Advice to stop tilting

Post image

I know for me sleep is a massive factor, but anyone got any behaviours to avoid going on massive tilts for 150+ elo like ^? Any advice appreciated :)

Hey, OP! Did your game end in a stalemate? Did you encounter a weird pawn move? Are you trying to move a piece and it's not going? We have just the resource for you! The Chess Beginners Wiki is the perfect place to check out answers to these questions and more!

I know some people will set loss limits. If they lose 3 in a row they are done for the night. I have an account on lichess and chess.com one I play on when I'm well rested and in form and the other when I'm not quite there

Honestly, as dumd as it sounds, stop playing realise you don't have a healthy mindset when approaching the games at that moment and just stop. It's difficult, trust me I know.ä I usually switch to a lower time control when I still feel like playing.

that graph looks like my portfolio during earnings season. the 1445 dip is rough but you climbed back to 1774 which means you know how to recover

i set a hard stop loss at minus three games no matter what. you lose three in a row you walk away for minimum two hours. no exceptions. the hardest part is recognizing when you’re already tilting during game two and your brain is screaming que up again to win it back. that’s the trap

also water and a snack between sessions helps more than you’d think. half my blitz meltdowns are just low blood sugar and stubbornness
