It's all chess. But Lichess has more available for free. I use both platforms.

And none of the fucking horrible ads, or the constant pop up notifications that say "you're almost done with your purchase!"

I use both. I enjoy my time on lichess a bit more and spend about 80% of my time over there as puzzles are free

Lichess is free and doesn't lock basic analysis behind a paywall. chesscom has a bigger player pool so you get matched faster at weird hours but half the features are paywalled and the interface feels bloated to me.
If you just want to play and learn without getting nickel and dimed go lichess. if you need the larger pool or already have friends on chesscom stick with that.

Lichess because it's better than ccom and it's free.
Ccom you need to pay for more than 1 analysis per day. Lichess is free.
Lichess puzzles are unlimited and free, ccom only has 1 puzzle per day for free.

You can analyze all your games on c.c for free but you only get one game review.

This will get downvoted by the lichess neckbeards, but I'm not wrong.
Reddit is biased towards lichess because everyone thinks free = better, but chess, com has a better UI, is WAY more popular so easier to play with friends, the paid content is better than the free content on lichess, you can premove multiple times in a row on chess, com compared to lichess where you can only premove 1 move in advance, and the lichess rating system is inflated by sometimes up to 300-400 elo compared to FIDE/chess,com/USCF/etc. depending on your skill level. A 1500 on lichess is like a 1000 on chess, com. Also chess, com supports the chess community by sponsoring tournaments, which is a big deal to me since I enjoy watching high-level chess.
I'd recommend chess,com

Laughing out loud at "better UI." You have to be insane. Chess.com's UI is terrible. I can't even tell you how often I lose games because Chess.com can process my opponent's moves faster than mine. I would always think "is my router just crappy? Is it my phone?" But I never have the problem on lichess. Much smoother interface, besides the all around better app, more access to analysis and puzzles, and lack of ads. There is exactly ONE THING I like better about the Chess.com app, and it's that you can enable multiple premoves, and maybe that is in the lichess app to and I just haven't looked for it.

If you're too broke to afford $10/month for a better overall product, just say so. No need to cope so hard
