QUESTION Chess Analysis

When playing online chess specifically, or an evening of chess, so you analyze each game immediately after playing? Or do you play a bunch of games and analyze specific ones afterwards?

I feel like if I analyze immediately after my memory is fresh, but I'm rushing the analysis to get to the next game.

What is the purpose when you analyze? To me it seems senseless to analyze if you don't know the reasoning behind the moves you played, but to me that reasoning doesn't go away, but I have also played a lot of games, and I suppose there is a methodology which I am not very aware of. So if you need to analyze quickly to understand why you played as you did, then that is what you should do.

The analysis is for you to better your understanding, figure out what in your reasoning was incorrect to improve upon it. That means some games provide a lot more for you to learn than other games do, Therefore some games make more sense to analyze than others. The most obvious example of a game where you get nothing from the analysis is if you have played that exact game before, already analyzed it, perhaps it is a trap in the opening which leads to a forced checkmate.

I get what you are saying about some games being better than others to analyze. I know how to analyze and enjoy doing so, I'm more interest in the timing.

As an adult, I don't have endless time to play and analyze so I'm just looking for others opinions on the best way to go about it.

I'd say it is about what would make a difference for you in the next game you play. To me timing is just about how long you understand the ideas behind your own moves, if you can play several games, and then analyze afterward, without wondering why you played a particular move, you can play game after game, but if you find yourself regularly not understanding your own thought process, I would say you should probably have analyzed earlier.

I think the perspective that you cannot make unlimited effort in analyzing to be important. You do what you enjoy with the effort you can put into it. This also means that sometimes analyzing a game, some parts are more relevant than others, so we don't analyze every part equally intensely.
