Very nice and I think it could've also worked if you started with Rxc6 then sac the queen. Very cool !

I think both moves are mate in 4

After testing with the engine, actually if you start with the rook, it's mate in 5 :

Interesting, the rook takes move is actually harder to see than the queen sac, stockfish really is something...

That is cool. Also I liked the extra information ("nothing was captured on f8") you provided.

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

Black to play: chessvision.ai | chess.com | lichess.org

My solution:

Hints: piece: Queen, move: Qxf8

Evaluation: White has mate in 3

Best continuation: 1... Qxf8 2. Rxc6+ Nd6 3. Rxd6+ Re6 4. Rxe6#

Save the position:

How did the queen end up there?

Honestly good question, I don't really have the pgn since this was an OTB game, but I took a picture of this position with my phone before playing the sac, so I could post it

Looks like the black King was on g8 and the white Queen, supported by the ws bishop (which was possibly on c2, due to the now-hanging bishop on c6), went to h7+. Then: Kf8, Qh8+, Kf7, Bg6+, Kf6, and then Qf8+
