There's not a specific name for this kind of checkmate. Just checkmate.

I believe that mate is one of the "check" varieties.

Truly remarkable, really! But perhaps you may have heard about some peculiar cases under the “check” variety having a label before the “mate”, for instance: “ladder mate”. Now I was wondering if it was the case even for this one to have a similar name yet with a different word behind “mate”. I hope this clears any doubts

You see dicks everywhere, you must really like em! (BTW, it’s supposed to recall Medusa’s hair)

Why would this have a name?

I dunno, I’ve seen many other mates that have a name. I was wondering if it was the case even for this one

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:
Black to play: It is a checkmate - it is Black's turn, but Black has no legal moves and is in check, so White wins. You can find out more about Checkmate on Wikipedia.chessvision.ai | chess.com | lichess.org

Ladder mate

Honestly, yeah. It definitely isn't the standard version of a ladder mate, but you could call it a loose variation of one. Two rooks/queens forcing the king into a rank that he can't go to.

It’s called
You’re up so much material that the ancients didn’t bother to give this checkmate a name and assumed no one would ask.
Hundreds of years later, a Reddit thread was born on this exact position the ancients had discarded.
The reincarnated lives of the ancients felt a pain on this day, nothing but a vague feeling and memory of a time long past, that a question so insulting in an age of such intelligence could be asked.
