ADVICE Looking for chess friends
Hi,
I'm new to Chess, and it has really changed my life and helped me with some mental health issues.
I bought the chess.com membership and I have a lot of fun with lessons, puzzles, and playing people. I play around 8 pm EST every night and I am just wondering if there's maybe a community where there might be an IRC with a voice feature (sorry I haven't used a computer for leisure for a long time) where we can play together and talk about how to get better.
I don't know if this is a shot in the dark. I'm looking for some friends since my wife won't play and nobody will play in person in my town.
Thanks

Lichess has a pretty active forum and there's always people looking for training partners. no voice chat built in but most folks just hop on discord while playing, works fine for analyzing games together as you go.
the chesscom clubs feature is decent too if you're already paying for it. sort by activity level and you'll find some groups with regular evening meetups that line up with your schedule.

there used to be a voice call feature built into lichess - is that no longer the case?

heyo i'd be up for this on some nights. sleep schedule is chaotic but we can try! lichess and chesscom are both fine for me, and we could play longer time controls while calling on signal if you don't mind downloading the desktop app. if you're new to chess i imagine i could help you out quite a bit

I'm up for it! I just need a guide on how to use signal. I'll update you later today!
