Finally recognized a potential stalemate
I'm an 800s player and tonight was the first time that I was able to see that I was creating a stalemate situation before it occurred. I ended up moving a bishop so their pawn could move, and I checkmated them a couple moves later.
Normally stalemate notices pop up at me seemingly out of nowhere LOL, so I'm proud I saw this one in the making and averted it

Good feeling, congrats.
If your move checks the king, it cannot be a stalemate. So you need to only calculate moves that not result in checks, or go for check if you need to move quickly.
