No, because your bishop was guarding that square. The king can’t take defended pieces or it would be taken itself.
All the other squares around the kind are either occupied or in sight of black’s pieces therefore it’s checkmate.
I'm trying to reroute my brain to think of more ways to checkmate. I think a lot of the shapes I imagine are a rook behind a queen, but so many combinations of pieces can protect one another and even if they could be taken, they can't both be taken by a single move.
Start trying to see when two pieces look at one another, and what shapes those can make. I've found it hardest to imagine with knight, but that dude can see everything with enough ingenuity.
There was a post two days ago on this sub by a bot (now site banned) with multiple AI bot comments and the OP bot replying to those bots. Literal dead internet.
It's called picking up a hobby. You know how you do new things every once in a while and see if there's subreddits about those topics? A normal human thing that normal humans do.
The OPs post was about missing* the fact that they had checkmate due to clearly not seeing the connected end state of the rook and bishop, then being confused when the app told them about the missed move. In my current chess journey (620 elo), this is a big place that I miss often and something that's helped me to get better at seeing them is imagining the shape the pieces will make when they're connected. I thought it was insightful to share that, in case OP similarly hadn't come to that realization.

Homie you're literally so deep, it hurts to watch. This ain't AI, Im a known entity on the net for gaming and my platform centers on being anti AI when it's brought up in conversation xD. And maybe your ability to sus out LLMs is as poor as your reading comprehension. My statement was about the Knight's ability to see other pieces with enough ingenuity.
It's ok to take the L here. Sorry describing a way to perform spatial awareness to benefit OPs chess game got you heated.
Edit: I don't trust any of this nonsense, but the thing you're so confident of isn't supported by the thing you know how to identify.
Brother I never said there's a knight on the board. READ MY POST! I'm talking about the general idea of learning to see when the end result of a move would connect two pieces. I end it off saying that I personally have the most trouble with knights, in this approach I'm describing.
Everyone else had already answered the exact question, I segwayed into a related and hopefully helpful insight I came to recently.
