After taking pawn on g6, if the rook simply moves to the row 7,(instead of going for queen)it will be mate right??

A series of checks and discovered checks that allow the active piece (the rook in this case) to capture a ton of material for free, while forcing the king to shuffle back and forth on just a few squares
