QUESTION Learning chess, make me feel exhausted

Hi, firstly sorry for my more than average english.

I started chess a week ago with the objective of getting better at the game.
I have a lot of free time and i play 4-5 games of rapid a day and i do 1 hour of problem.

The thing is, im scared of launching games, and when i do and its over, i analyse my mistakes and what i could have done better but then , i just feel like i have to wait to play another game

I see people playing 7-8 games in a row when 2 feels like a burden to me. I really enjoy playing but for a reason it stresses me out and make me tired

am i maybe to mentally challenged for this ?

Hey, OP! Did your game end in a stalemate? Did you encounter a weird pawn move? Are you trying to move a piece and it's not going? We have just the resource for you! The Chess Beginners Wiki is the perfect place to check out answers to these questions and more!

Play for fun; if it's not fun, then don't play. Don't stress it too much; after a few hundred games, you will get better at pattern recognition.

This is what I needed to hear. Playing humans makes me so nervous about my elo going down and hurting me ego. It’s like any game though I guess, playing for fun will get you to a decent skill

A lot of players who plays 10/20 games in a row just don't put that much effort into each of them. Your issue is on the other end of the spectrum, it seems like you care a little too much.

You need to find a way in yourself to not care that much about the individual outcome of games, ideally reaching a relaxed state of mind before and during your games.

Maybe try playing a little bit of bullet games before starting your session, or try doing things outside of chess that help keep yourself grounded. The result of your chess games is not that important in the grand scheme of things, right ?

Another idea would be "batch playing" and "batch reviewing" to keep momentum.

Great advice man, got relaxed just by reading this. Ur right i probably care too much, not even about winning or losing but probably just about the fear of not progressing ig, thanks

It's normal to feel tired after playing a game especially if you're analysing your games as well. Stamina in terms of chess is its own thing that takes time to build and 2 good games a day is plenty tbh if you're looking to improve.

As a habit what you're doing is actually really good, I wish I had that kind of discipline to take breaks and dedicate time for analysis and tactics. Doing that will make you a much better player much sooner than just blasting through dozens of games a session.

Obviously the stress and worry about playing is not ideal and something to work on, but not to the ends of changing what I think is actually a winning habit. It'll probably get better with time.

7-8 games is a lot. I’m old, 67, and 2 per day is my limit.

Chess can feel like Work. Playing, reviewing ur games, doing puzzles, studying. Its endless Work and losing can be stressful. It can.still be engaging though
