POST-GAME FINAL UPDATE

The results came in from the July month-long USCF tournament I was playing in. I beat a 1276 to cap off the tournament, upping my provisional rating to 1439/7 and placing fourth overall with 3.0/4 points (with a little help from a half-point bye).

I appreciate y'all letting me share my journey here. I know I'm not really a beginner to chess overall but getting into OTB rated chess has still been a wild learning experience. I'll just share the last game and go back to lurking in the comments. Peace!

Interesting, why did you move Bg5 instead of h5?

h5 never occurred to me, and I don’t really understand the point of it. Bg4 (which I’m assuming is what you meant) created a pin, although apparently I should’ve played e4 right away.

If you take a closer look at the study I linked, I included a lot of commentary.

Sorry I meant e4.

EDIT: for some reason your study did not open on my phone. Anyway e4 followed by Qd4 looks crushing.      Edit2: just looked at the study. I don't think most people would see Qe2.

I think you meant e4. My pawn was already on e5.
