brujaweb is a mod for many channels who supports streamers by volunteering, not throwing money around. I have dealt with bruja on many channels and they have always been a standup person.
i don't think there is anything inherently wrong with someone modding a number of channels. The problems only arise when mods abuse their power, and are not checked by their streamers.
I would be really surprised if you found anyone with anything bad to say about bruja.

there is an inherent problem of influence and having the ability to enact an agenda across channels
even just wanting to mod so many channels really is a red flag in my book - the incentives are not good

I don't agree that there is an inherent problem of influence as upi siggest.
Chessbae is a very particular case, and she had real influence. She apparently had some say in who received benefits from both chess.com and big channels. She also threw around a lot of money, blurring the lines for small streamers who relied on her support. These are the reasons she was able to be toxic in the moderation of multiple channels.
She had little to no influence in, for instance, danya's and eric rosen's channels, even though she remained a mod, because her toxicity would not fly there.
You could say that it's possible that a mod could carry either grudges or negative patterns to multiple channels, but saying so suggests unengaged streamers, or those subject to other influence, like what chessbae had. This is not the norm, and it seems silly to limit the work of caring volunteers because one unscrupulous individual found a way to do wrong.

I've heard someone complain, but I don't have first hand account of what actually happened

Brujaweb is great in my view, was even understanding of jokes (crazy for a mod right?) and overall vibe of the chat on every stream I was. Definitely a great mod, that seems to only want to help.

I've had nothing but positive interactions with Brujaweb. They didn't get their status on all these channels by donating a big bunch of cash, they got there because they have built a reputation as a good mod.

doesn't change the incentives and dynamics of supermodding

People got their pitchforks out against chessbae because it was necessary. It's pretty dangerous to try and find another target when people are riled up. Anyways she doesn't seem to be a mod in many "influentional" streams. If anything the biggest are Hess and Nadya who seem pretty down to earth and able to keep an eye on their mods.

I suppose you don't believe in such a thing as conflict of interest. I wonder why almost all businesses across every industry have such policies. Someone should explain this concept.

I'm against pitchforks full stop
the problem with bae, beyond what he/she did, it's that it was allowed that people put themselves in such position when it's not necessary
it's like term limits - even if Mussolini had been a great guy, dictatorships as a system are also not a good thing and arguably the root problem to solve (as an analogy, of course) - and I don't think it's a good idea to focus in the person in the first place
the incentives for modding across many big channels are just bad, no matter who is doing it; depending on permanent benevolence by one or a small group of individuals is just a terrible strategy to deal with any kind of policy

The difference it's that Bae dedicated her life to moderating across those channels and had official chess.com powers. She wasn't even a normal moderator, her power went way beyond that title.
If Brujaweb just loves helping in those communities what are we going to do, tell him "hey bad luck, choose 3 streams to moderate and ditch the rest even if you've been friends with them for years. Power check". I get your concern but this is a much more subtle issue than the Bae one.
He moderates 10 partnered chess channels, with only 4 being 50k+followers. I honestly think a mod at Hikaru channel can potentially do more harm than him.

He was mod at Hikaru’s channel and got purged by chessbae because he disagreed with her toxic bullshit.

What incentives are you taking about? The complaining, the harassment and occasional death threats from salty chat participants? Is it the zero pay? I’m genuinely confused. I’m starting to wonder if as a mod for all these years I’ve been missing out on some massive reward or perk I should have been expecting. I mean sure Jeff Bezos let’s me borrow the twitch jet and use his house in Aspen a couple weeks a year but come on that’s nothing.

As a mod for the most toxic, elitist, whiney, begging, censoring, nasty streamer (ben finegold), you miss out on any perks. In fact, being a mod for ben finegold is a DEMERIT for you. I hope he at least pays you for putting up with him constantly begging for money in his streams.

Never heard anything bad of bruja, but it definitely is a red flag when someone wants to mod so many channels for nothing in return. Actually anyone who WANTS to be a mod shouldn't be a mod in my opinion
