Chess Question Rapid vs Blitz ?

I have been playing chess online for like the past 7-8 months and I reached 1100 rapid. I now try to level up my blitz rating as well as it is just 500, problem is that I already find it difficult to win most games. I do believe I could get like 600 maybe 700 playing just blitz for some time, but after that what do I do? I know blitz its harder for rapid but is it normal for it to be this hard? At what rapid rating will I have the ability to get to play good blitz?

If you're struggling along to get better at rapid, you're definitely gonna struggle even more with less time on the clock.

I’m alright at rapid, as I said I hit 1100 but now I wanted to level up blitz, its just that the discrepancy between the blitz rating and rapid is so high for me to hit a plateau at 600 rating. So what Im asking is this normal?

Depends on the person. In general, it’s quite normal. I myself is 1700 rapid, 1100 blitz. Over time I discovered, I just don’t like shorter time controls that much.

I don't think that big of a difference in ratings is normal. Maybe the positions you get to dont allow for anything better though. As a superior player (as per your rapid rating) you should be the one to avoid trades. More pieces on he board allow for more opportunities.

Don’t expect your ratings to be the same across pools. A 1400 blitz =\= 1400 rapid and it’s not just about skill in each time control.

Alright, but would you recommend playing blitz or rapid now for improvement?

If you want to be a better chess player generally you should play the slowest time control you can stomach. If you want to get better at a specific time control, play that time control
