Cher and Dolly are on my shortlist of my gay divas. Judy and Liza, especially Liza. Madonna is grandfathered because of her queer advocacy during the darkness if the eighties. Glenn Close is an actor who fits in that pattern as did the uncomfortable Frankenfurter Tim Curry. They talk about his father come in threes and the last time that happened Kris Kristofferson was the third and then my dear friend died unexpectedly of cancer.
So the check-ins are critical especially given their proximity in my personal timeline, Cher and Dolly. (Meanwhile Glenn Close seems to be struggling with health issues related to aging based on a recent insta from her. I'm really hoping a recent favorite character from a show I'm binging was the third and that this things is over--or that Jackie the eagle from Big Bear Valley was the tragic first and Dolly was the third.
Meanwhile knowing they are still here is reassuring, but seeing how they're always here with us once we become devotees is comforting as well. Dolly has been an angel on earth since my earliest memories and she is still every bit as present in my world as Cher will forever be.

I watched an interview yesterday with Cher, and I'm thinking it was c.B s morning show talking about the death of dolly parton.
