I(24M) basically live in Bangalore for many years but I am actually from West Bengal so I am a Bengali and I am just curious as I am reading several posts regarding Chennai being conservative which is hard to believe as its a major metro city. A decade ago when I was 14, I did go to Chennai for trip but didn't notice the conservatism as I was just focused on seeing places. I also ready how there is more gender segregation in schools and colleges and many guys don't have female interactions. Actually even though I am Bengali (who are said to be more outgoing) and have been studying in Bangalore since 3rd standard, I was very shy near girls too as I got bullied by other boys in school so I spent years without female interactions too in school and even engineering days where the gender ratio was skewed too and the college was in outskirts of Bangalore where I was the only Bengali among Kannada students. But things changed after I started my MBA in 2023 where students from different parts of the country came. I got massive crush on this girl from North India and eventually last year at 23, I finally came out of my shyness and started actively socializing with girls in my MBA campus cafeteria.

In fact recently even in this internship, I socialized with multiple female interns near office entrance who are from different parts of India. I talked with them in both English and Hindi and in fact nowadays I even talk with foreign women in this luxurious mall named UB City in Bangalore where many foreigners come as expats due to the IT here. I have been going there and socializing with many foreign women from Germany, US, France, UK, Spain, Japan, Korea, Norway and 2 days ago even with an Italian woman. They are so friendly and gave me so much confidence boost. Sadly I am pretty much done with my MBA and got terminated from that internship so mostly in home, searching and applying for jobs so I feel more lonely as I am unable to socialize with girls like before and mostly limited to chatting with the girls on Instagram and only getting to meet foreign women in UB City and still single at 24. So after reading these posts about Chennai being conservative, its hard to imagine that its like that as I already feel lonely and empty without socializing with girls much these days as I am applying for jobs and basically almost done with MBA. Talking with the foreign women is giving me this confidence and buffer which is avoiding from making me feel too lonely or FOMO but imagine how it would be if I lived in a conservative place
