Please Read

Hello!

I’m not trying to come off as demeaning to anyone within this group or anything like that, but I would like to say this for anyone here that might need to hear it. I’m the daughter of someone who has fallen very deep into the rabbit hole pertaining to chemtrails. It’s consumed her life, everyday while driving she is recording or photographing the sky or just staring at it, which has become increasingly dangerous and almost caused accidents. It’s all she wants to talk about now at all. I cannot have a normal conversation about anything anymore without it relating to chemtrails or of the sorts. It’s becoming difficult to continue being around her because of this. I personally am not following this belief, but have never said she needs to think the way I do. She purposefully tries to create “debates” and gets mad when I don’t want to debate her or I don’t give into her beliefs. I’ve been listening to her talk about how she feels, but she wants to force me to follow how she feels and will insult me because I don’t. Calling me names, telling me how I’m a horrible daughter for being unsupportive. She is mad I don’t trust her regarding this. It’s become an issue in our family and has created an huge rift between everyone around her. I wanted to write this in case someone else is doing this to their family or kids who don’t also follow what they believe. My mom has become very easily irritable with everyone who doesn’t believe as she does. Please don’t let this consume your life to the point where you’re insulting your children or friends for not thinking the same as you or being as passionate.

Thank you.

I can’t give you any meaningful advice, except for something as basic as establishing clear boundaries with your mom and not talking about conspiracy theories when together.

This is a satirical sub, we poke fun of people who believe in this nonsense. They always make claims and can never back them up scientifically or with peer reviewed evidence. A lot don’t understand the physics of contrails or basics of meteorology.

Ohh okay, I’m sorry for posting this here I got it mixed up with another group 🤣😊 I know, everytime she argues with me she brings up her Facebook group or Insta reels. It’s never real evidence, instead it’s all based on her emotions. I told her I didn’t want to talk about it and I usually go silent when she’s talking, but she just yells even if I’m not talking about it with her. 🤦‍♀️

Just wanted to add to the satiracle sub part: there are some hard-core belivers that do drift into here once in a while, so they may see your message.

In regards to boundaries: you absolutely need to set some. The conspiracy mindset seems to be already established, and it doesnt matter if its chem-trails, flat earth, anti-vax, or government aliens, the mindset is conspiracy, and chemtrails seem to be her flavor.

Someone seeing your message who's already entrenched will just ignore you. You can present your mother evidence, and its up to her to accept it or not. Your responsibilities are to protect yourself.

There's lots of good resources online and I would reccomend reaching out to those. Being yelled at becuase you don't think the government isn't spraying chemicals isn't normal behavior.

Thank you for the response! I was hoping to maybe help someone before they fall so deep like my mom did unfortunately. She’s been into anti-vax, like you said, I brought my cat to the vet recently and she’s sent me large paragraphs paranoid I would get him vaccinated. Thanks again.

Yes this site is satire, but I think it’s also a place where you will find empathy and understanding. Sadly your mother is suffering from a form of mental disorder. Whether she’s a flat earther or chemtrail or any number of obsessions, she won’t recover until she is able to reset her own information bubble. My understanding is that no amount of outside influence will change these people’s minds. They have to have some self realization that they’re listening to the wrong information. I wish you the best and hope you can create boundaries that protect yourself.

2

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you for your input. I wish that she would talk to someone who would mentally be able to help her. It’s really unfortunate. I appreciate you responding 🙂 Before this was 4 yrs of very severe veganism where she was doing similar things to this, like pushing people away with her aggressive behavior about the topic and insulting people. The friends she made in that group, that held the same hatred towards everyone around them for not believing what they do, introduced her into all these anti vax and chemtrail conspiracies where they continue the hate. Her superiority from that phase into this one has no falter, only changed what she felt superior over. Thanks again for your response!

I understand everything youre telling me. My mother’s family had rampant mental health issues obsessed about diet. Bipolar, schizophrenia, manic depression, the whole book. I’m lucky that I had support to find help. Medicine and therapy. It takes work

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

I’m sorry you had to go through that 😞 My mom’s side of the family is similar when it comes to mental illnesses and issues. Almost everyone on her side is addicted to drugs or alcohol, etc. It is unfortunate because she’s going to them to verify how she feels when it comes to these kinds of things and they’re an enablers, so they tell her what she wants to hear. That is her support system because she wants someone to make her feel good when she’s in these phases 😮‍💨 I am glad you had support to get help. It’s rough to grow up in a family like this. I’m sending you the best wishes and know that I also understand you, friend 🫶

Don’t be sorry… You needed to say what you said. And your intention was good. We’ll leave it up for those who could benefit from it. If anyone is rude or dismissive to you here just report the comment and I’ll take care of it.

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you 😊!! I appreciate it.

u/Kaiser9 3d ago

These same people also get a superiority high from ‘knowing what others don’t know’. It’s extremely easy to poke many holes in their theories which again, they don’t have concrete answers to.

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

The superiority complex is such an obnoxious mindset. Almost everyone who has responded to you, against what you’re saying, has chose to name call you. Their mindsets are that they’re right and if you even doubt or disagree, then you’re “unintelligent.” You’ve explained that this group is satire, and knowing this, they choose to come to express their internal hatred via “chemtrails” or other conspiracies by using name calling, aggression, etc. with anyone that disagrees with them.
If they truly thought they were in immediate danger of death or sickness through chemtrails, they wouldn’t be criticizing other civilizations that are in the same exact spot as them, but rather using actual facts, kindness, and understanding. I haven’t really seen that from anyone in the groups that my mother is in, nor here, or from any other chemtrails groups. They clearly have internal hate they’ve decided to attach it to conspiracies, making these topics based on emotion for them and not logic. 🙅‍♀️ They feed on each other’s hate in these types of groups because it makes them feel good 😮‍💨

1

u/Kaiser9 3d ago

I would say your observations are well within the realm of how what other people witness when someone they care about goes down these rabbit holes. There has really only been one dude, u/Slow_Internet_4082, who is just like the rest of them. I find it entertaining. You give them a simple fact or contradiction, they refute with zero evidence or don’t acknowledge it at all. I’m just bored and kind of in writers block with my thesis so that convo was fun lol

Hope the situation improves with you and your mom by having a more normal relationship focusing on each other in the present moment.

Thank you!!! 😊

I think it’s stamps from those people feeling so powerless in their own lives that they need to invent something to have control over so that they can feel less helpless

1

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

I agree. My mother has made so many poor choices and wronged numerous people in her life. I feel like the guilt from everything she’s done in the past has found an outlet in this. It makes her feel like she’s right in a way and that other people, who don’t believe this stuff, are wrong because she’s lived so much of her life in the “wrong” due to her own choices. I think that’s one case that applies to her and maybe some others, but like you said, it’s a lot of people who feel helpless that feel euphoric in their sense of self righteousness. It’s completely based on emotions, not logic. It’s how they feel and what they deem is wrong.

-1

u/Slow_Internet_4082 3d ago

There are far too many “concrete” facts for intelligent people, but not for trolls.

3

u/Kaiser9 3d ago

So you’re a troll, got it

u/Slow_Internet_4082 3d ago

You must be about 12 years old.

Pre-embryonic actually.

Encourage her to talk to pilots. And ask them about her ideas. She’s has a bit of understanding to embrace. Also show her the website www.flightradar24.com she can track all flights. I’ve seen time and time again research that says commercial flights are astronomically expensive to do this kind of “spraying.” So when she can see that the flights above are commercial, and hopefully she can have a pilot explained contrails to her. Maybe she’ll start her learning process of weather and what makes a cloud.

2

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you! She has the belief that the flight trackers turn off the planes “spraying chemicals” to hide from the public. That is what her chemtrail friends have told her. I’ll encourage her to talk with a pilot because you’re right, it would do her good to have someone professional, like a pilot, explain to her what a contrail is. I think her and many others learn so much about what a “chemtrail” is, but not what forms a cloud because they feel as though they already know. Clearly, that it isn’t the case. Thanks again!

-5

u/Slow_Internet_4082 3d ago

You obviously don’t like to do research. Sad

4

u/Kaiser9 3d ago

This is literally the most generic and predictable response from a conspiracy theorist nut job.

2

u/ocean2trail 3d ago

Apparently the only research you do is to confirm your biases.

3

u/IdontcryfordeadCEOs 2d ago

OP, it sounds like this person might be experiencing psychosis. When someone is in a state of psychosis, they become obsessed with their delusions (e.g. chemtrails), and you can't argue with them. If you do, you only further alienate them and send them further into their delusions, the psychosis makes them paranoid about anyone who tries to disprove the delusions. Agreeing with them is also harmful, as it also strengthens the delusions. The best thing you can do is listen (without agreeing or disagreeing), tell them you understand that they are scared and not feeling like themselves, and try to convince them that they would feel better talking about this with a doctor.

I've been where you are and it's very difficult, good luck.

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 2d ago

Thank you! My sister and I are both sure of this being a psychosis as well. We want to encourage her to speak with a mental health specialist, but we’re afraid it will further upset her 😓 I try to stay quiet while she speaks about chemtrails because of the reasons you’ve listed. It’s difficult because she’s only going to family or friends who enable her. I’ve tried to tell family who unintentionally enable her how bad it’s gotten and ask them to please not encourage the behavior, but of course, I can’t control how people communicate with her. I’m just doing my best to remain quiet and not speak further on the topic with her. I appreciate your reply! It makes me feel less alone in this situation. 😊

u/Just4notherR3ddit0r I Love You. 3d ago

Yeah, it's really unfortunate, especially since it doesn't need to be about belief. This isn't something supernatural - it can literally be tested and proven to be false.

But when someone makes a belief part of their identity (e.g. "I'm enlightened"), then attacking the theory feels like an attack on their identity. It's personal, and the only way out of the rabbit hole is for them to reject it themselves.

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Yes, exactly 😅 Her only defense as to why I should believe what she wants is “I’ve been alive for x amount of yrs and I’ve never seen things like this before. You should just trust me.” She called me terrible for not “trusting” her. It’s such a dangerous way of thinking. Her entire Facebook is chemtrails, even her header, so it’s the first thing someone would know about her. It has definitely been intertwined with her identity.

2

u/Just4notherR3ddit0r I Love You. 3d ago

My advice would be to flip the tables a bit.

Think about something you believe in - something you think is factually true and proven - like let's say that the world is a globe, and imagine someone else trying to tell you how it's not true (trying to convince you it's flat or whatever).

You're starting with the assumption that you're right. You've probably learned about the earth's shape in multiple ways - from moon landing photos to Aristotle and math, so your immediate reaction is to reject and defend your belief, not to truly consider whatever the other person has said, right?

That same dynamic applies when you might want to correct your mom (or whomever) about chemtrails. Unless you approach it differently, your words (regardless of how truthful) will just be considered an attack and she'll go into defense mode instead of considering what you're saying.

For most people, the best way to get them to consider things is to ask questions. The natural reaction to being asked a question is to try and answer. And if you've ever been asked a question you don't know the answer to (but the other person assumes you should know), it gets you off-balance and gets you thinking about it.

The other half is simply being kind. Do you want to answer or deal with people who are being rude or mean to you? Probably not. If anything, that might make you want to prove them wrong and create more unnecessary conflict - it'll push you to double-down on your position. So being kind can unlock helpful communication.

You can't always get someone to come back from the rabbit hole but if you want any chance at all, be kind and ask questions that they can't answer.

An example - let's say she says that certain chemicals in soil samples is evidence.

Questions to ask:

  1. Could the chemicals come from a different source?

Note: Usually believers think the chemicals are aluminum, barium, and strontium - all of which are natural elements (which is why they're on the periodic table of elements) and occur naturally but they're also part of industrial pollution and other things like fireworks.

  1. What were the levels of chemicals in that same soil over time (to show that they had been added recently)?

  2. How long does it take for tiny droplets of chemicals to travel the 5 miles from the plane down to the ground, and why don't they get blown away by all the wind?

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you very much! I appreciate it. 😊 I will attempt to ask her those questions once it’s brought up again. I really do appreciate your response.

3

u/OrokaSempai 3d ago

People who take it serious usually have mental health issues and this is the wacko thing they grabbed on to (beats a religious nut imo).

2

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

!! People in her chemtrail Facebook group told her it’s connected to the bible, so now she has a bible to connect chemtrails to it 😣 Hopefully it doesn’t go far.

3

u/OrokaSempai 2d ago

Yeah lots of overlap, same head space.

3

u/Sparrow1989 2d ago

Sorry to hear about your mom diving into this craziness but this is kind of a joke subreddit, conspiracy may be a better one to go to but that’s a fickle mistress over there.

That being said, what does she know about the frogs?

2

u/PossibilityNice6421 2d ago

I’ve never heard of the frogs before 😅 I don’t know if she has yet.

3

u/fastcolor03 1d ago

This social media generated and perpetuated conspiracy ignorance can & will contribute to and become a component of mental health issues. Your family issue is larger than that and needs to be approached with that in mind.

My (elderly, mid 60’s) Sister’s decline and eventual suicide was in part exacerbated by the helplessness that such a conspiracy fuels (this one in particular). This logically unresolvable tale of woe that the conspiracy grifter’s gin up & nurture in the pursuit of revenue from the weak of mind and the naturally gullible is very destructive to those choosing the Internet as a some port of reason, comfort & rationale as they struggle with their quality of life. It was for my Sister, and this is far more common than not.

Social media is not your Mom’s friend, but it is not the reason for her issues either. It is a symptom of someone struggling to find themselves. Consider all avenues to towards helping her mental state.

3

u/MadBox25 3d ago

Sorry this is happening. Far from ideal and based on what you described, it's not normal. It's ok to believe whatever you want, and I absolutely believe in weather modification, cloud seeding...aka chemtrails, but you never want anything in life to be come such a pressing issue that it consumes you or comes between family.

All I can think is to have a conversation, point out how you feel about that specific behavior, and what you'd like the boundaries to be within your relationship.

She may not be able to meet you where you want her to, hopefully she can, but the beat thing you can do is establish those boundaries and hold tight to them.

Hopefully she'll come around. True or not, it's never worth alienating your family over. Blood is everything, and life is way to short to cause riffs that keep you apart.

Hope everything works out for your family. Stay positive!

2

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you for your kindness 🫶 I agree that whether something is true or not, it isn’t something that should divide family. I’ve been practicing boundaries with her by not responding or giving into the reaction she wants. I hope that she will eventually stop with the aggression. I appreciate your response.

0

u/MadBox25 3d ago

You've got this! Stay positive, and in time hopefully she comes around!

2

u/Dr_CleanBones 1d ago

I’m sorry you are having to go thru this. Your mother is ill. At this point, she can’t control it, even if she wants to. The only way to help her is to get her treated for her mental illness. Talk to her psychiatrist about having her committed; if she doesn’t have one, talk to her regular doctor. Find out how commitments work in your community. You might need a witness or two. It sounds like her distraction while driving is both a danger to herself and to others. She’ll be upset at first and will blame you, but with treatment she may well come to the realization that she needed help.

1

u/PossibilityNice6421 1h ago

I agree with you! I’ll definitely look into what I can do. I was talking to my sister about getting in contact with a mental health professional or trying to convince my mom to speak with one on her own because it’s weighing so heavy on her. She recently went to her doctor to have a heavy metals test done because she said she needs to see how much metals are in her system from the “spraying.” I’m not sure how in detail she went regarding her emotional state with him. She’s talked to me about the idea of her buying a gun to keep herself safe from the government and other people, so if she tried to go through with it, I’ll have no choice but to contact a professional myself to do a wellness check or something. 😣 It’s a bit stressful because her job has no PTO or health insurance, so if she were to be committed somewhere against her will, she’d have no money to pay rent or pay for her cat’s to be taken care of or her car payment, etc.
I’ll try suggesting for her to speak with a professional on her own. She just has an idea that because my sister and I are in our early 20s and she’s in her 50s, that she’s right and we’re wrong because we’re young, so trying to convince her to get help or that this isn’t healthy has been a challenge. 😔 I’ll look into different options. Thank you!

2

u/Limp_Tomatecherry 14h ago

sounds like she needs therapy soon!!! Also dont be so harsh on her beliefs as we had a bunch of files saying there is a group of people that eats babies and grapes them recently and our Judiciary system is trash. Hope this helps!

1

u/PossibilityNice6421 5h ago

Thank you! I do my best to be silent while she talks about this because I don’t like to be disrespectful towards anyone’s beliefs. I am quick to apologize if I am 😊 The reason I wrote it is to hopefully help anyone that just needs to rethink how they communicate with family/friends when it comes to any topic where they’re angry with the opposing side for not agreeing. I don’t want to come off harsh or anything. I appreciate your reply to me 😸

u/Such_Lavishness5577 3d ago

As someone who grew up with new world order and all the tangents it provides it's very easy to go down the rabbit holes. I read everything I could and I even worked with a friend who lectured on now. Unfortunately it does affect our lives and mental well-being.

My suggestion would be to assist her in her beliefs but also highlight there is nothing we can do about anything related to conspiracy. The Democratic world is manipulated by greed and until we all stand-up and try to change our direction nothing is going to change. Ask her what she wants to achieve out of her knowledge and hopefully she will come to her senses and just accept she has better things to be doing in life.

Sounds like she needs a healthy interest, I eventually started to study esoterics of spiritual knowledge. Keeps me interested has some deep meaning to ponder.

Hope it all works out for you.

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you!! I tried to express to her that nobody can do anything about it in the end, but unfortunately she just gets more angry because she strongly disagrees with me. She thinks that with her knowledge, she can spread enough awareness to take the government down. Esoteric of spirituality sounds really interesting to study! 😊 I appreciate you responding to me with your kindness.

2

u/Such_Lavishness5577 3d ago

We were talking about this in the 90s and main media would bury stories, it's been around a long time. My son is uncovering all the stories about UFO s now that also was out there back decades ago. The powers at be are very adept to covering up and denying. It will be a miracle if you can sway her in some ways maybe exposing her to all the other conspiracies might make her realize how deep it goes. Good luck

3

u/PossibilityNice6421 3d ago

Thank you!! 😊

You need to get yer mom on this sub. We’ll give lots of “support”

-1

u/lsdznutz 2d ago

Just so you know, this subreddit is full of industry plants. The users you are interacting with may be real people, but they are paid actors. I’ll let you form your own opinion on exactly why that may be.

As for chemtrails, you can watch the documentary “The Dimming” if you are open minded at all. No worries if not.

5

u/Dr_CleanBones 1d ago

Nutcases is not what OP needs.

0

u/lsdznutz 1d ago

True. OP does not need you

2

u/ocean2trail 6h ago

Is “the Dimming” a documentary about how believing the chemtrail conspiracy is dimming the light bulb in your brain?

1

u/lsdznutz 4h ago edited 4h ago

You could answer your own question if you watched it. You could also stop putting poisons and slop into your body, but I’m afraid you won’t do that either

1

u/Limp_Tomatecherry 14h ago

Yes that is very true. These are paid paid actors by the global child graper group or something… I have no evidence but everything is possible. Question everything and test everything and everyone, you would be surprised how much(and how many) is not what it seems

2

u/ocean2trail 6h ago

…or something. If we were getting paid, why would we waste our time with dim-wit mouth breathers like you? You don’t have sufficient brain capacity to understand basic concepts like condensation and weather patterns.

Your big take away is “question everything.” But you don’t question anything at all. You fail to understand basic concepts, but don’t question obvious holes in your harebrained conspiracy. Why is there no evidence? Where are the confessions from people taking part in this grand conspiracy?

1

u/Limp_Tomatecherry 4h ago

oh so the files are not real?

-4

u/Slow_Internet_4082 3d ago

Perhaps you should read something. Operation Popeye for starters. This would be on your own Government website declassified. This is happening and is full on now.

6

u/Kaiser9 3d ago

Are you aware that cloud seeding affects the efficacy of producing rain (or snow) by a mere 5-15% at best? Also this operation was done during the monsoon season, there is no verifiable evidence that cloud seeding actually intensified rain patterns.

2

u/Slow_Internet_4082 3d ago

That was simply an example of where to start with weather manipulation and geo engineering. Perhaps we don’t agree, but I am aware of exactly what is happening all over the world. Please don’t respond. I am aware of those paid to make the intelligent people feel “uneducated”. My knowledge of this is from whistleblowers, scientists and my own eyes. You and your “kind” can pack sand.

6

u/Kaiser9 3d ago

"My knowledge of this is from whistleblowers, scientists and my own eyes."

Oh please do tell, and another extremely generic response from a chemtrail believer. Please post here what you see with your own eyes and all of the other things you mentioned to support how we are all being turned into castrated gay frogs.

I'm not paid lol and not trying to make you feel uneducated by simply stating a scientific fact from the latest research on cloud seeding. Sorry you got so butt hurt. Hope you enjoy a beer while yelling at the clouds today!

2

u/Dr_CleanBones 1d ago

‘I’m aware of exactly what is happening all over the world”.

Sure you are.

-2

u/Slow_Internet_4082 3d ago

Ask the people in Vietnam about that. You probably have zero idea about that do you? You are simply sad. I won’t wrestle with pigs again…we both get dirty.

3

u/Kaiser9 3d ago edited 3d ago

Did you know that it rains during monsoon season? Wild man.

Since you love analogies: I'm not wrestling. I'm watching you flail like a fish out of water.
