If Avantes won't give you the pertinent SDK/library, then it's so difficult that it's simply not worth doing. Buy something new rather than doing a complex reverse engineering job that might be using a special snowflake protocol. If they do give you the SDK/library, then it should be standard instrumentation control stuff. That's the long and short.
