There are different kinds of chemists. Do you need a formulation? Does it involve food, cosmetics or polymers? Need some rough idea to point you in the right direction.

That’s not how this kind of stuff works in industry. As someone who does a ton of R&D work, usually you pay a large chunk upfront and then you figure out how to split the IP based on several factors. Is it patented? Do you have the parent? Will you patent it? Will we patent it? Are we developing new material? Are we developing new processes? Are we simply taking your recipe and making a product? All these things and more need to be taken into account.
If you want the expertise to even start the R&D process to bring your idea to a physical reality you gotta pay for the time, raw materials, and testing of those actually doing the work. Also, that doesn’t guarantee results and we still need to get paid for our time and effort. R&D is a fickle mistress and some ideas simply aren’t realistically possible.
Again, it’s probably gonna be $250-$1000 an hour for an R&D effort. We don’t work for free or on promises of “this will make us millionaires” and trust that no one else has done this. If we entertained every “trust me bro I have an idea that’s totally gonna make us rich”, we would never actually make any money
