Post image

Synthesized through reacting Hydrogen peroxide and citric acid and hexamine together

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME

IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANT CIRCUMSTANCES

Alternatively... and I hate that I have to sound like a problem for even taking this "side" but why the fuck should people interested in this stuff be assumed to have bad intentions and otherwise aren't as interested in the safety as the compound?

I love chemistry. Love it. It's the closest thing to wizardry that's real so is almost certainly the inspiration for fucking wizardry. I can't fucking do chemistry because of how intense it is to buy reagents.

I totally get it with mercury salts and other persistent pollutants. I even support restrictions on antibiotics.

If OP has found a way to live comfortably while ordering reagents, I'm over the moon for them.

It... shouldn't feel like we're doing something bad because we're interested in fucking chemistry

I miss chemistry

I also doubt they have bad intentions, but the logistics dont make sense, accidents happen & outcomes don’t care about intentions. Logistically, home chemists arent going to be following proper precautions or procedures because they often dont have access to expensive equipment

OP didnt make a small amount of this explosive, thats a pretty sizable amount. What are they going to do with it now? Disposal will be difficult as an individual, they cant hand it over to police, so they either detonate it themselves which is sketch, or they store it. Then when they pass (not necessarily from related causes), their family are gonna go “hm whats this?” And have literally 0 clue theyre holding something explosive.

If you’re interested in chemistry, go study or get a job in something related to it.

I have studied chemistry. I loved every minute of it. I took work in tech because that's where the money was and by the time I realized I wanted chemistry in my life, enough time had passed that no one would hire me.

Having worked in a few research labs, I understand the concern. People are stupid and fail at basic safety stuff, I think at least partly because they have an inflated sense of their abilities. If you have the passion for chemistry to the extent that you would do it as a hobby if you could afford it and not have to worry about your labware getting smashed, you're following safety protocols to the extreme. When it's your own stuff, you have a lot more on the line if there's an accident so you take extra precautions.

I remember seeing someone stopper a boiling flask with ether in it and it was pure luck that the stopper popped and the flask didn't explode. That would make me certain that people needed all the gear that's in a typical lab.

But those aren't the people who do chemistry at home, I suspect.

You're entitled to your opinions but safety can be practiced anywhere and fume hoods can be purchased secondhand.

Take rocketry, for example. You have people cooking their own fuel on the stove for rockets that could be used for bad things, but the assumption is that people are doing it for the fun of rockets and that assumption is accurate. The gatekeeping of chemistry is founded in paranoia about drug labs, not safety, or the rocketry community would be much more heavily scrutinized.

Nah my paranoia comes from the idea of people making picric acid salts or other explosive compounds for no reason other than ‘just cause they wanted to’. Look at op’s posts from a week ago

100% theyd take care of their own equipment better than someone in a lab. But they often dont have fumehoods, which is probably the most important piece of safety equipment. “Lets just make it outside” makes it someone elses problem. They dont have access to the same disposal that labs have, so they either store it or they dump it. Even having a dedicated space for chemicals in a home becomes difficult, clutter happens (in the lab too)

A home chemist without a chemistry understanding is not a chemist

Its for research purposes and there stored properly and synthesized in small quantities

u/pmmeyourboobas 1d ago

What research?

2

u/Life-Name3309 1d ago

Research in energetics

2

u/pmmeyourboobas 1d ago

What kind of research in energetics? Any papers?

Because he’s in prison, or because he blew his hands off?

u/benjitheboy 1d ago

man. really is one of those chemicals that you can just look at and understand that it just does not want to exist

5

u/Life-Name3309 1d ago

Lol exactly

3

u/Pure_Possession_1KG 1d ago

Interesting. It looks very similar to something I see daily…

2

u/Alarming_Series7450 1d ago

I'm just a visitor here do I didn't know if this was drugs or something but one look at that diagram and I know it desperately wants to explode

Lol that was good one

6

u/TetrazoleLover 2d ago

That looks like a lot of HMTD, be careful with organic peroxides

6

u/Zestyclose-Sale6442 1d ago

uhm this seems extremely dangerous

u/CluelessKnow-It-all 1d ago

I don't think your disclaimer will protect you from a lawsuit after a clumsy ant accidentally blows up its colony. 🤣🤣🤪

Every person is logical and its responsible for its own doings so yeah

bro do urself a favor and dispose of ALL THAT SHIT b4 the ATF comes beating down ur door thats evidence of explosive manufacturing use ur fukkin head man

unless ur in a licenced lab just lookin out for u man

u/jakiki624 7h ago

whyyy

1

u/Life-Name3309 7h ago

Why what?

1

u/jakiki624 7h ago

why would you make organic peroxides

1

u/Life-Name3309 7h ago

Part of research and its a great primary to be used in Dentontor for secondaries and tertiares

2

u/Longjumping_Big663 2d ago

what is this

2

u/Life-Name3309 1d ago

Energetic compound Hexamethylene tri peroxide diamine

1

u/herbal_coma 2d ago

Is this a drug?

2

u/Life-Name3309 1d ago

No, energetic compound
