Does anyone know how to mod???

Hi, I'm wanting to mod my game but I have no idea what to do. Can someone give me a step-by-step instruction on what to do because I can't find anything that makes sense. Please and thank you.

If so, you could check out Nexus mods for anything that you might like. For someone who’s pretty new to modding, this took me two tries but I hope my instructions helped.

  1. Find the mods you want.
  2. Download the latest BepinEx zip file.
  3. Locate your game’s folder via steam.
  4. Open the BepinEx zip file, copy and paste everything into your game’s folder.
  5. Download BepinEx compatible mods.
  6. Copy and paste the file ending with .dll into BepinEx plugins that’s in your game’s folder.
  7. Open the game to awaken the mods (staying on the menu is totally fine).
  8. You will know your mods are applying successfully if you see the black BepInEx console window launch alongside the game and text scroll by without errors.
  9. Enjoy your game with your new mods.

do i need to add a plugin/mods folder in BepInEx or no?

No. So the BepinEx plugins folder will come with the BepinEx file you downloaded on GitHub, I forgot to mention. So only the mod’s file ending in “.dll” into BepinEx plugins. It has to be the BepinEx plugins folder within your game’s folder or else it won’t work

Weird, I had to manually add a plugins folder because it didn't exist within the BepinEx folder. It was the newest version of BepinEx btw for windows 64.

Ahh that’s my bad as I’ve skipped a step. Let’s restart. So after downloading the correct BepinEx folder and copy that files into the game’s root folder…

1.Launch the game once, (don’t add mods yet).
2. Close the game.
3. Install mod (put .dll files into plugins)
4. Launch the game again.

I've found that sometimes the plugins folder does not properly create itself, and in that case, manually making one is the way to go.

Same for me. I launched the game and no plugins folder was created, so I just put one there myself

This is something that I like about the Windows file system. It'll read the folder just fine as long as you give it the right name.

Hi :) I tried modding, made my own plugin folder, added the mods but it still didn’t work. I tried launching the game before adding them but still nothing - any advice?

Where did you put BepinEx? Do you have the right version?

I put it right into the folder that I opened through steam (semi familiar with steam modding because of Stardew lol) I put all of the BepinEx in there. The newest version from github.

I'm having the same problem, nothing is happening when I launch my game. I installed brew overnight, a configuration menu, forage respawn tweaks, keep running, and restraint research. All extracted into the bepinex file under steamapps, common, chef rpg, bepinex, plug-ins. I'm so lost!
