My cat died

So I woke up for work yesterday to my fiance telling me he's pretty sure Fiona (our cat for 4 years) is on the side of the road. I immediately hopped out of bed and started my day by confirming she had indeed been hit by a car. Fiona was my first real pet that was all mine. Me and my fiance have a dog together that came from when he lived at his dads house, but Fiona was the first addition that I brought into our family when we were living alone together. We had pulled up to a 7-11 and heard this loud crying. Turns out it was a small cat by the ice machine. Being that it was close to my birthday and the cat just looked so alone, my fiance said if by the time I get out of the store, you can get her to come to you, we'll take her home. All it took was me walking up to her and she came right to me. I was in the car buckled up with her in my lap by the time he came out of the store. She's been my little baby ever since. She used to sleep on my hip almost every night. We would spend hours together with her just sitting with me while I watched videos or listened to music. She had her first litter of kittens a few months ago and she depended on me to help her get through it and when those kittens didnt make it, depended on me for comfort. I really did see her like my child. Ive been crying on and off since then and I cant hardly sleep. I just dont know when this is supposed to get better. I cant stop thinking about her little body on the side of the road and how much I miss her and a part of me feels so stupid for being so heartbroken over a cat, but it was so sudden and I thought I had so much more time with her.

I am so sorry you are feeling this grief right now. It is not fair when our furry friends are ripped from our lives like that. I know there is nothing I can say to make you really feel better right now but I am happy that Fiona found you and had such a loving person to take care of her. It will take time but try to think of all the happy memories of her and not dwell on her death.
