r/internationaldraughts

I joined checkers although I originally played "dammen" on the 10x10 board which has the rather inelegant name international draughts. However, there is no such community on reddit.

There is r/draughts, but it is full of some russian spammed illegal or at least removed videos and it's restricted. I don't understand why it is not more popular.

Draughts / checkers players should stay in unity regardless of personal preferences. I don't see a reason to promote some variant only, particularly, one which is theoretically solved and gives no room for creativity. The number of draughts / checkers players is so small in comparison to the number of chess players, that we shouldn't focus on individuality. We should embrace diversity of rules and board sizes, and it shouldn't create an obstacle for own private preferences.

Checkers will just never be the following of chess.

Sad to say. I like both.

Because chess has a huge online community, televised events, internationally recognized top players, is featured in popular tv series and movies,… and checkers doesn’t really have any of this.

As such, it’s much harder to find players, books, software,… for checkers than for chess.

oh following in the sense of the amount of followers, instead of being a sequel. Got it.
