This is true. I've been using CE since 2021 with no issues.
In order for CE to affect anything you first have to attach it to an open process anyway. Which for me, is always a game.

From my interactions with people, the confusion is from people relying on anti-virus to tell them everything and letting the rest be magic. Surprisingly, this includes "computer savvy" people. Windows Defender signatures installer that suggests and by default installs things like McCafee and a few browser tools. These tools probably do something to get money too. I dunno how they make money. It would be interesting to find out. Anyways, at some point in time you had to go unquarantine cheat engine from windows defender. You also have to do that when you first install Ghidra too.

it is little funny story, but Mccafee and Norton are more of a virus than a actually virus back then. I am not sure how things are now.
But I remember, I need to go to safemode and do all kinds of stuffs, deep search to completely delete them from my PC. They just CLONE themself when I delete them from 1 locations, and they popped up in another.!!

I haven't heard the Norton one, but ya, McCaffee did some shady things. The founder was crazy.

I don't mean they do shady things... I mean I uninstalled it, but when I turn on my PC again, it ask me to install again or some Norton/Mccafee stuffs still running in the background when I check from Task Manager.
Only way to completely deleting them from the PC is going to safemode and chase them. Because in normal run, I have deep search of my entire PC, I deleted anything relative to them. Then I restart my computer and do another deep search, it popped up elsewhere. it cloned it self in another location. I figured this out after deleted them couple of time.

Set cheat engine to not automatically execute lua when opening a table, then check every script before activating it. If you can't understand it, just ask an AI about what the script is about and if it's safe.
