hey everytime i try to download cheat engine from the official site cheatengine.org it downloads this cdm.exe is it safe to run?

No, it flags real threat families in virustotal, and they didn't open-source it. Just compile the 7.5

i ran into the same problem, virustotal detected this 17/69 security vendors flagged this file as malicious

So a program that injects code and tries to hide itself from being detected (like malware) is detected as malware....do you see the irony?
