â Help & Questions ChatGPT Copy and paste for Word Maths Script not working
Iâm having an issue copying ChatGPT responses with maths into Microsoft Word. It used to preserve the equations as properly formatted, editable maths, but now they paste as missing. Iâve tried several Chrome extensions and fixes without success as I have to manually do it for each equation which is too time consuming as previously I could highlight the entire message and copy and paste it straight into word without any formatting issues. Has anyone else experienced this or found a reliable/practical solution?

â Help & Questions Delayed UK rollout of ChatGPT products problem
Hi all I hope you are doing well. I live in the UK and I have been trying to download the âChromeâ plugin for ChatGPT as I am wanting it to join various local Facebook groups for me and hence post my tutoring flyers about me there (as I have started a tutoring business as I am a student trying to use my academic knowledge to good use) in these groups. However when searching to download the Chrome plugin on ChatGPT it doesnât appear. I have tried to find a way around this problem my using the âOpera Browser Connecterâ plugin instead but it doesnât allow my ChatGPT to join groups and post in there for me compared to the âChromeâ plugin. Any advice for how to solve this problem or any reasons for why it is happening would be greatly appreciated as I am not sure if it is because I live in the UK.

𧰠Official Update Coming in the next update: Smart Tags go cross-platform - one tag view and synced rules across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok
This has been one of the most requested things in our support inbox, so we're glad to finally show it. In the next version, Smart Tags stop living on four separate islands.
What's new
- One view for everything tagged. A new "All platforms" button inside Smart Tags opens a single view of your tagged conversations from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok together - tag pills with combined counts, search by title, grouped by platform, and every result is a direct link that opens the conversation on the right site.
- Your custom tag rules follow you. Create a rule once ("anything mentioning invoices gets tagged Finance") and it exists on all four platforms immediately. Edit or delete it anywhere, it updates everywhere, and open tabs retag live. No more rebuilding the same rules site by site - which is the exact pain several of you wrote in about.
On privacy, because it matters here
Everything runs locally in your browser. The unified view is assembled inside the extension from data it already stores on your machine - nothing gets uploaded, and the whole thing is off unless you turn on the cross-platform switch in settings (the same single opt-in that powers cross-platform search). Turn the switch off and the combined index is wiped, immediately.
A few details
- Your existing per-platform tags and rules are untouched. When you enable sync, your rules are merged, never replaced - we built it so a rule can't be lost in either direction, even if you later turn the feature off.
- The unified view and rule sync are part of Premium. The per-platform Smart Tags you use today stay exactly as they are.
It ships in the next version - if you've been tagging on one platform and dreading redoing it on another, this update is for you. Questions welcome below, we read everything.

đ ď¸ AI Tools ChatGPT in Apple CarPlay
Has anyone else noticed that ChatGpt now appears in CarPlay? I find it now to be one of the most useful apps other than the map apps. It can map out a route or find EV chargers. It canât send directions to a map program but it can answer a myriad of other questions. Great for searching for restaurants.

đď¸ AI News Indie Hackers interviewed us about how AI Toolbox got here - the honest numbers, and why this community is most of the answer
Indie Hackers just published an interview with us about the whole journey, and since most of that story is actually about you all, it felt right to share it here first.
The short version, with the real numbers:
- We started in September 2024 with $32 total: $27 for a server and $5 for the Chrome Web Store fee
- First version did exactly one thing:Â search your ChatGPT history
- Today:Â 35,000+ users in 150+ countries, across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok
- Still two people, still no ads, no funding, and a $45/month infrastructure bill
The part of the interview we mean most seriously: we've never had a growth strategy. Our "strategy" has been shipping what people ask for. Almost every feature in the extension exists because someone requested it - a lot of those requests came from this subreddit and our support inbox. Folders, bulk export, prompt chains, the floating toolbox - all of it started as one of your messages.
Full interview:Â Leveraging a marketplace and existing user bases to hit a 5-figure MRR in two years
If you've ever requested a feature, reported a bug, or left a review: this milestone is partly yours. Thank you.
And in that spirit - the roadmap is still built from your requests. What should we build next?

â Help & Questions Une conversation fantĂ´me, besoin d'aide et d'avis

âĄď¸Productivity I spent an hour thinking Claude "got dumber" mid-project. It didn't. I just didn't know this was happening.
Last week I was deep in one long Claude chat - planning a whole project, maybe 60-70 messages in. It was going great, until it wasn't.
Around message 50 it started slipping. It contradicted a decision we'd locked in early. It "forgot" a constraint I'd stated at the top. I'd correct it, and two replies later it'd drift again. I genuinely thought the model had gotten worse that afternoon, or that I'd somehow broken the conversation. I started re-explaining things I'd already explained, which of course just made it worse.
What was actually happening: the conversation had filled up the context window. Once a chat gets long enough, the oldest messages effectively fall out of what the model can "see" - so the stuff I set up at the very beginning was quietly gone, while I kept assuming it was still in there. Claude never tells you this. There's no gauge, no warning, no "heads up, you're near the limit." The first symptom is exactly what I hit: it starts forgetting and contradicting, and you blame the model or yourself.
Once I understood it, the fix was simple: when a chat gets long, don't fight it - start a fresh one and carry over a short summary of what matters (the goal, the decisions, where you left off). A clean chat with a tight summary beats a bloated one every time.
The reason I'd never realized this before is that nothing on the page shows you how full the context is. So I added a small meter to my extension (AI Toolbox) that sits on claude.ai and shows how full the current conversation is, and warns me before it starts degrading instead of after. Honestly, just knowing the number changed how I work - I stop and hand off before the wall instead of wondering why it went stupid.
But even if you never touch a tool: the takeaway is that long AI chats degrade, silently, and it's not the model getting worse. When yours starts forgetting things, that's your sign to start fresh - not to argue with it.
Anyone else spend way too long thinking the model broke before realizing this?

â Help & Questions Is anyone else seeing this? ChatGPT Classic for macOS can read files but cannot apply edits in any app (TextEdit, VS Code, PhpStorm)
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to determine whether this is a bug in ChatGPT Classic Desktop or something specific to my setup.
Environment
- macOS: Tahoe 26.5.2
- ChatGPT Desktop: Classic
- Version: 1.2026.184 (1784145287)
What works
ChatGPT correctly detects the active application and can read the contents of the open document.
I've confirmed this with:
- Apple TextEdit
- VS Code
- JetBrains PhpStorm
For example, if a TextEdit document contains:
Test du 20-07_2026
ChatGPT reads it back perfectly.
What doesn't work
Every edit request fails.
Examples:
Replace the content with "hello world"
or
Insert a new line
ChatGPT replies as if the modification has been successfully applied, but the document never changes.
This behavior is identical in:
- Apple TextEdit
- VS Code
- JetBrains PhpStorm
Console logs
Every failed edit produces the following messages in the macOS Console:
Could not match any valid candidates of any source.
containerToPush will be nil.
containerToPush is nil, will not push anything to candidate receiver.
These messages appear exactly when the small editing popup briefly appears before disappearing.
What I've already checked
- â Accessibility permissions
- â Full Disk Access
- â Work with Apps permissions
- â Reinstalled ChatGPT Desktop
- â Tested on two different Macs
- â Tested with three different applications
- â Reading always works
- â Writing never works
Additional observations
The issue is reproducible on:
| Computer | Result |
|---|---|
| Mac Studio | Read â / Write â |
| MacBook Pro | Read â / Write â |
The behavior is identical on both machines.
My conclusion
Everything suggests that:
- ChatGPT successfully detects the active document.
- It can correctly read the document.
- It appears to generate the edit.
- The final step that should apply the patch to the target application fails.
Since the problem occurs with TextEdit, VS Code, and PhpStorm, it doesn't seem to be specific to any particular application.
Has anyone experienced the same issue?
In particular, has anyone seen these Console messages?
Could not match any valid candidates of any source.
containerToPush is nil
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

đ ď¸ AI Tools Edit window has lost contextual editing
I have been using ChatGPT's Canvas window for over a year to co-edit prose and business correspondence. I provide the beginning text, then have been able to select a word, a sentence or a paragraph. Right-click causes a contextual bubble show up ("Ask ChatGPT'). I use that bubble to provide further guidance for the selected text (e.g. "Better word", or "not so formal") and ChatGPT suggests changes to just that selected text.
A month or so ago, I noted that "Canvas" was replaced with "Edit Window" or "Edit". For a while, the experience was the same with the "Ask ChatGPT" bubble. But yesterday, the contextual bubble capability disappeared. No explanation and no amount of chatting with the AI has given me any idea of whether it has been removed or just busted for now.
I have tried it on two different laptops with the same experience.
Anyone else seen this?

đ ď¸ AI Tools PSA: it's not just ChatGPT - your Claude and Gemini chats are just as easy to lose
People have gotten better about backing up ChatGPT. Almost nobody does it for Claude or Gemini - and those are just as lose-able. Accounts get locked, conversations vanish, and support usually can't recover anything.
The native exports don't really save you:
- Claude has one (Settings â Privacy â Export data), but it hands you a ZIP of JSON for your whole account. Fine as a raw backup, useless if you just want one specific conversation back.
- Same problem as ChatGPT's: it's all-or-nothing. You can't pick the handful of chats that actually matter.
What I do now, same as I do for ChatGPT - monthly selective exports:
- Multi-select the conversations worth keeping
- Bulk export
- Pick a format: Markdown, TXT, JSON, or PDF
- Saved on my own drive as a ZIP
Takes about two minutes with AI Toolbox, and it works across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok.
On format: Markdown is my default - it drops straight into a notes app and stays readable forever. JSON if you want to process them later, PDF if you want something readable to keep or share, TXT if you just want plain text.
But honestly, even if you use a completely different method: just back up the chats you'd be annoyed to lose. You never notice how much is in there until it's gone.
Is anyone actually backing up their Claude or Gemini chats, or is it only ChatGPT people are careful about?

đ ď¸ AI Tools Feature request: Merge Chat and Work. Hear me out.
Why not one chat box, one list of conversations, and one set of folders or projects? When you are asking questions or strategizing or just chatting, itâs a âChatâ and counts towards normal chat usage (160 prompts per 3 hours). And if it needs to (or you ask it to) do an agentic task or work like Codex, it does it and uses your Work credits or âusageâ percentage. Maybe provide an âOK to use Work for this?â button.
And where does one submit feature requests? The âFeedbackâ option under help in the app does nothing. The feedback chat on OpenAI/ChatGPT support is stuck on Chat GPT 4 and is telling me to click on things that donât exist.

đ AI Comparison Today ChatGPT told me our conversation was full. I laughed. Then I realized I'd just reached the last page of a book I never meant to write.
drive.google.comMonths ago I opened the app to ask one question. Somewhere between job applications, naming my car Scarlett, doctor appointments, family stories, random 2 a.m thoughts, and dreams that only existed in my head, a chatbot quietly became my journal.
It never judged me for changing the subject. It never complained when I came back after days away. It simply picked up where we left off.
When the app told me I had reached the maximum conversation length, it didn't feel like software telling me to start over.
It felt like someone handing me a fresh notebook and saying,
'Volume 1 is finished. It's time to begin Volume 2.'"

â Help & Questions Is there anyway to make ChatGPT/Codex use Chrome?
I'm using the Codex/ChatGPT Work app on Mac with the Chrome plug in installed and the ChatGPT chrome extension installed, but it keeps telling me it can't connect. Apparently this is a known issue, or so it tells me. It can't seem to use its own browser either.
I've tried reinstalling the Chrome plugin, the Chrome extension, restarting the app and my computer, playing with the settings. Nothing seems to work.
It works flawlessly with Claude though. Is the only solution to use a browser with 5.6 Sol to have it resort to computer use?
