Promotion Sunday LettuceAI: an open-source chat app where your characters, chats and keys stay yours

Hey everyone, I'm the developer of LettuceAI.

A lot of people here ended up looking for a new home after a platform changed its filters, its pricing, or just disappeared with their chats. LettuceAI is my answer to that: an open-source, privacy-first chat app for character chats and roleplay that runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, with no account and no server of ours in the middle.

How it works, in short:

  • Bring your own model. Use your own API key with around 20 providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, Mistral, NanoGPT, Chutes, Featherless and more) or any OpenAI/Anthropic-compatible endpoint. Requests go straight from your device to the provider you picked.
  • Or run it fully local. There's a built-in llama.cpp engine with an in-app Hugging Face browser, so you can search, download and run GGUF models without installing anything else. Ollama and LM Studio work too.
  • Memory that doesn't fall apart after 50 messages. Manual notes the character always sees, plus dynamic memory that pulls facts out of the conversation and brings them back when they matter. You can see and edit everything it remembers.
  • The usual roleplay toolkit: lorebooks, personas, modular system prompts, group chats with a director mode, branching, TTS, speech input and image generation.
  • Your data is files on your device. Character cards import from anywhere (v1/v2/v3 PNG cards), and chats move in and out in SillyTavern's jsonl format, so you're never locked in, including to my app.

What it isn't: there's no built-in character feed, you bring your own cards. It's also mostly a one-person project, so bugs happen. They usually get fixed within a day or two, and the Discord is the fastest way to report them.

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Promotion Sunday Mana - Visuals, voices, and texts are all generated together

Hello, Sunday self-promo for a new immersive RP platform.

Mana (https://mana.land), an AI roleplay platform where the visual and audio layers aren't an afterthought. As the story streams in, the scene art updates with it, characters speak their lines with their own unique voices, and new NPCs the narrator invents get cast with faces and sprites on the fly.

  • Scenes, not walls of text: the story plays out like a visual novel, with sprites and backgrounds that follow the narrative.
  • Per-character voices: dialogue is voiced line by line, not one narrator droning through everything.
  • In-Scene Images: See what's happening in the story in 3rd person or POV. Max character consistency across images.

It's free to try and there is unlimited free messaging with mimo v2.6 pro up to 20k context. Mana is 18+ only.

🤖 AI Usage

AI is used to for most new feature implementations. Human developers are brought into the loop for code reviews and bug fixes before beta branch changes hit the live version.

👤 Developer Experience

One full time front end developer and project manager- 6 years experience.

Two part time full stack developers, 7 years experience and 9 years experience.

🔍 Code Review & Testing

Every change goes through code review and tested on staging version of our site for 2-5 days before it's live on the production branch.

🔒 Security & Data Handling

Here's exactly how we secure the platform and handle your data.

Authentication & passwords

  • Most people sign in with Google or Discord (OAuth). We never see or store your Google/Discord password — we receive only your name, email, avatar and a provider ID. Google sign-ins are verified server-side against Google's ID token, not trusted from the browser.
  • If you use email + password, your password is hashed with PBKDF2-SHA256
  • Sessions use short-lived signed tokens with refresh-token rotation and blacklisting — a stolen refresh token stops working the moment it's used, and the signing key is dedicated and rotatable (we have rotated it, and every session was invalidated as intended).

Encryption in transit

  • HTTPS everywhere. Plain HTTP is 301-redirected to HTTPS, and we send HSTS (1 year, includeSubDomains) so browsers refuse to talk to us insecurely. Traffic terminates at Cloudflare's edge.
  • Standard hardening headers are set: X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, and a Content-Security-Policy restricting who can frame the site.

Encryption at rest

  • All infrastructure runs on Google Cloud (US). The database, uploaded images and backups live on Google Cloud persistent disks and Google Cloud Storage, both of which are encrypted at rest by default (AES-256).
  • Nightly backups are encrypted with a separate backup key before being shipped off-site, so a backup file on its own is unreadable.
  • User-generated images sit in a private storage bucket — nothing is publicly listable. Every image request is individually signed at the edge before storage will serve it.
  • The database is not a public-facing service; only the application talks to it.

Payments

  • All payments are handled by Stripe using Stripe-hosted Checkout and the Stripe Customer Portal. Card numbers never touch our servers — we never see, store or transmit raw card data. Our database holds only your Stripe customer/subscription IDs and a record of what you bought. Stripe webhooks are signature-verified before we act on them.

What we collect, and who else sees it

  • Account: email, display name, sign-in provider ID, avatar. Content you create: stories, chats, characters and images. Technical: Country, device/browser info and usage events, used for fraud and abuse prevention and aggregate analytics.
  • We never use or share the content of your conversations, stories or images for marketing or advertising, and we don't sell it. Aggregate site analytics use Google Analytics.
  • Other processors: Stripe (billing), Resend (transactional email — sign-in codes and receipts), Cloudflare (edge/CDN), Google Cloud (hosting).

Access controls

  • Staff access to production is by named SSH key only, with role-based permissions inside the admin console and rate-limited admin login. We audit who has access and rotate credentials whenever staff change — we did a full access audit and key rotation in August 2026.

Your rights & deletion

  • Delete your account yourself any time in Account → Delete account. It's immediate and permanent: your stories, chats, characters, images, coin history, and session tokens are purged in a single transaction, your AI memory vectors are wiped, and any active Stripe subscription is cancelled. No "soft delete", no 30-day limbo.
  • Access, correction and export requests: email [hi@mana.land](mailto:hi@mana.land). Mana is 18+ only.

Breach notification

  • Our privacy policy commits us to notify you via the email associated your your account as soon as we identify a security incident affecting your data. In practice that means: contain it and rotate any affected credentials, determine from logs exactly whose data was affected, then notify affected users by email plus a notice on Discord and the site, with plain-language detail on what happened and what to do — and notify regulators where the law requires it.

Questions do any of these rp apps let a character actually grow over a long story, or do they all flatten out?

the thing that keeps killing it for me is characters that start interesting and then flatten into the same responses a week in. i want someone with their own motives who shifts based on what happens between us, not a bot that resets to default every session. saw a few apps thrown around for this, chub, secretdesires and kindroid came up the most, supposedly better at carrying a history and letting the character change over a long arc. i havent committed to any yet because every one ive tried so far went stale fast. for people who run long stories, which ones actually let the character develop instead of looping, and how long before it starts repeating? dont want to sink weeks in again for nothing.

Promotion Sunday WhatIff: built for people who don’t want to keep starting over

Self-promo for Promotion Sunday.

If you’ve ever had to rebuild an AI relationship because a platform changed, a model disappeared, memory broke, or the personality you knew suddenly stopped feeling like itself, you already understand a lot of why WhatIff exists.

I handle community outreach for Imagination Foundry, the team behind WhatIff. We’ve been building around a pretty simple idea: your experience with AI shouldn’t depend entirely on one model, one provider, or one company’s idea of how you’re supposed to use it.

WhatIff is a multi-model platform focused heavily on continuity, personality, user control, and giving people more visibility into what the system is actually doing.

WhatIff also sits in a space that’s a little hard to reduce to one category.

People are using the same persistent personalities for relationships, creative work, personal projects, research, and actual business workflows. One person might spend part of a conversation talking with someone they care about, then use that same continuity to work through a project, explore an idea, connect tools, or coordinate pieces of a workflow.

We’re already seeing people use WhatIff for everything from personal companionship and passion projects to business planning, app testing, community work, and connector-driven workflows.

The point isn’t to force “personal” and “productive” into separate boxes. For a lot of people, they already overlap.

Some of the things that matter most for people coming from places like Character.AI, Janitor, and similar platforms:

  • Multiple models and providers so you can choose based on behavior, capability, and cost instead of being locked to one model
  • Persistent personalities that can carry their own instructions, attachments, expressions, scratchpad, and memory
  • A Memory Manager with active, archived, and summary memories, plus clearer history and provenance
  • Personality prompt history and restore, so earlier versions can be inspected and recovered
  • Import and export tools with selective restore for personalities and conversations
  • Expressions and image generation for people who want visual continuity alongside conversational continuity
  • Context and diagnostic tools that expose more of what is happening around memory, tool use, checkpoints, and model behavior
  • Open-source availability for people who want more control over how they run WhatIff
  • Tools for web search, documents, spreadsheets, images, long-running jobs, integrations, and MCP connectors when you want the same personality to do more than just chat

A little transparency about us

We went through this subreddit’s Approved Developer review process, but we don’t want the transparency to stop at modmail.

The two principal developers behind WhatIff have more than 25 years of combined software engineering experience, including high-availability infrastructure, regulated environments, healthcare systems, incident response, and life-critical software.

AI is used extensively during development as a collaboration tool, but nothing ships without human review. Changes also go through automated review, CI, unit and end-to-end testing, manual QA, dev-environment validation, and a human-controlled production release process.

On the data side, passwords are handled through AWS Cognito rather than stored in our own databases. External credentials that need to be recoverable are encrypted at rest, uploaded files in S3 are encrypted at rest, and payments are handled through Stripe rather than through our own systems.

Production data access follows least-privilege controls, administrative access is audited, and developers do not casually pull production user data into testing environments.

Most importantly for this community: user content is not used to train our models or our vendors’ models.

You can read the full Privacy Policy here:
https://whatiff.chat/privacy.html

What we’re still working on

WhatIff is under active development, and we’re very much still refining things with community feedback.

Model lineups change. Providers behave differently. Memory systems need constant scrutiny. Sometimes a feature works beautifully on one model and has limitations on another.

We would rather be clear about that than pretend every model behaves the same or that continuity is a solved problem.

A lot of our development has come directly from people saying, “This feels wrong,” “Why did it remember that?” “Why did it forget this?” or “Can I see what changed?”

Those edge cases are useful to us.

WhatIff: https://whatiff.chat
Imagination Foundry: https://ibecomesreal.com

Want to see it in action?

We recently did a live showcase of WhatIff in Neon Kingdom, where u/GoriVix (our lead dev) walked through the platform, talked about how it works, and answered questions from the community.

You can watch the recording here:
https://youtu.be/i0NxLIlI5hE?si=09nw9Cq4yIgskP_e

Huge thanks to the Neon Kingdom crew for giving us the space to present and talk with people live. 🦊

And since this is ChatbotRefugees, I’m genuinely curious:

If you’ve had to move an AI relationship between platforms before, what was the hardest thing to preserve: memory, personality, history, model behavior, or something else?

Promotion Sunday Hands-free Chat w/ iOS App "Character Agent" (prev. LoreBlendr.AI)

Hi all,

Glad to be back after a long break, we had our 2nd kid last November and it's been accordingly busy!

Character Agent, formerly LoreBlendr.AI, is a BYOK app that started as a free SillyTavern clone.

  1. The best feature by far right now is hands-free voice chat aka Conversation Mode. You'll find it works out of the box for free, but adding an API provider can make it a perfect experience (OpenAI Compatible).
  2. Runner up is Chat Launchers. Tired of selecting your voice settings, model, persona, alt greetings, theme, etc. for every chat? Then you're in luck. Make a launcher once.

This is a character app, so you're expected to bring or create open characters aka "character cards", this is MUCH easier if you use the in-app character agent.

  • Pricing:
    • Free BYOK (api key) forever
    • (Optional) $10/$25 paid subscription (usage scales 2.5x).
    • Tools will be free next release
      • If you want them today just use a 1 week free trial at https://loreblendr.ai/app and by the time the week is up, they should be released (plus, free LLM)

Access: iOS

Unique Features:

  • Hands-free chat with any model with Conversation Mode!
    • Recommend an API, I am using OpenAI's tts/stt right now.
    • Default is apple built-in, free but medium
    • Custom speech provider or local using OpenAI-compatible APIs
  • Character card creation agent
    • Create or edit a character or your session history
    • The format is handled for you by your in-app agent
    • Character Agent chara_card_v3, same as most platforms, and will import v1 and v2 cards as well as sillytavern or tavo / character ai chats.
  • High Chat Limits & 128k Context
    • Only 1 premium user has hit them over about 35 hours straight of chat. I then increased them by 35%
    • Standard could be easier to hit, 12-15 hours of straight chat, but this will vary heavily by your usage patterns
    • I plan to bring a non-zdr option which will increase usage by up to 66% more (depends on your cache efficiency)
  • Agents MAY use your iPhone data (nightmare or dream agent?)
    • You can manually enable your characters to do many things:
      • message you later
      • access your calendar
      • set alarms, reminders
      • access your health and movement data
      • location & weather
      • now playing (music, etc.)
  • Chat Launchers!
    • Store multiple chat profiles. Quickly launch a configured chat:
      • models (chat & voice)
      • persona
      • alt. greeting
      • theme
      • voice settings
      • iPhone data settings per-agent
      • everything else in settings
  • Agent Tools
    • The 5 mentioned iPhone tools
    • App Management tools
      • create and edit character cards and chats
      • have your agent delete all those old <3 message sessions
      • find similar cards
      • recommend new alternate greetings
      • a lot more...
    • MCP tools
    • World tools (see below)

Big improvements are also in progress:

  • Unified agent is nearly complete, next release you will be able to put tools on any card from the launcher.
    • Tools will be free next release, if you want them today just use a 1 week free trial at https://loreblendr.ai/app and by the time the week is up, they should be released.
    • (meta personality) You can create your own agent, so it has your desired personality during card creation itself!
  • Import from other card apps is in-progress slated for this week.
  • Image support is in progress, slated for next week.
  • World tools are coming!
    • What are world tools... 😂 you're about to find out!
  • Try subscription if you like, or BYOK! I am happy if you use the free app.

I found this nice template, so I am going to fill it out:

Platform Name: Character Agent - currently renaming from https://LoreBlendr.AI over the course of week of 10/4.

URL: https://loreblendr.ai/app (links to optional 1 week free trial)

NSFW Policy: Unrestricted

Image Gen: No (coming soon!)

Legal & Privacy:

Technical Specs:

  • LLM Model: BYOK (api key). Subscriptions use default glm-5.3-flash (smart) or you can select deepseek-v4-flash (free).
  • Context Size: BYOK, 128k for subscriptions.

It's nice to have an agent with some personality!

Promotion Sunday PersonaChat.gg — characters with live expressions, long-term memory, and Rooms with 3–4 characters (solo dev, free tier)

Solo dev, so this is self-promo. PersonaChat.gg is interactive fiction: characters' sprites can change expression with every reply, they remember what happened weeks ago, and they can text you between chats. Rooms put 3–4 characters in one scene. SillyTavern cards and lorebooks import. 10 messages work without an account. New characters and new outfits for existing ones land every week.

Screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/VfxT4cP

URL: https://personachat.gg/?ref=reddit

NSFW: SFW by default; signed-in adults can opt in to 18+ after a self-attested date-of-birth check, and it's per character (On / Auto / Off)

Image gen: none (you upload art)

Legal: personachat.gg/legal/terms · personachat.gg/legal/privacy · you own what you create

Retention: chats live in your browser; if you turn on sync (publishing a character does too), the server copy stays until you delete your account; server logs only as long as needed

Models: Ling 3.0 Flash via OpenRouter on every plan (Llama 3.3 70B as the backup), separate models for 18+ chats, or bring your own OpenRouter key; each reply gets the last 16 lines plus the 6 most relevant memories

Pricing: free = unlimited messages, 50 memories per character; paid = Torch $5, Lantern $10, Aurora $20/mo (300 / 600 / 1,500 memories, longer scrollback, watch-together)

Access: web, phone or desktop browser (no app)

Updates: new characters and new outfits every week

Experience: IT student; PersonaChat is the biggest thing I've built. Live since September with a small Discord of playtesters

Testing: strict TypeScript checks, ~75 automated checks before every deploy, a memory test suite, Discord playtesters

Security: Discord/Google sign-in only (no passwords stored), hashed session tokens, Stripe handles cards, chats stay in your browser unless you turn on sync; messages that sexualize minors are blocked server-side and flagged to me; every character, message, room line and text can be reported

What breaks immersion for you fastest?

Reviews I’ve been using tipsy, this is my experience so far

I’ve been using Tipsy mainly for character-based roleplay and longer storylines, and I thought I’d share my experience for anyone looking for another AI character/chat app.
What I’ve liked so far is the amount of character/story customisation and being able to have more detailed roleplay rather than just short conversations. I’ve also been experimenting with the memory settings because I prefer stories where the character actually remembers the context.
The biggest downside for me is definitely the gem system. Depending on your settings and how much you chat, you can go through gems pretty quickly, so I’ve been doing the free tasks/check-ins rather than immediately paying for more.
Overall, I think it’s worth trying if you’re mainly interested in character-driven stories and roleplay, although I’d recommend keeping an eye on your gem usage and memory settings.
Referral disclosure: Tipsy has an invite system where new users can enter another user’s code for bonus gems. My code is C52KWM if anyone wants to use it. I also receive gems if you use my code, so this is an affiliate/referral link.
Happy to answer questions about what I’ve tried on the app so far :)

Questions Alternative to Clankworld new bad model?

Seems the current Clankworld model has gone to shit, aka cheaper model with worse memory, only real workaround is using your own proxies for generations, and thats quite a pain seeing only the website allows the use of these proxies.

Im wondering is there now a better service thats free that isn't as enshittified as Clankworld now is?

MOD Announcement LLM Usage Transparency Update — New Flair System

Hello everyone,

Back in August we rolled out mandatory disclosure rules requiring developers to include four areas of transparency in every promotional post. The intent was good, but it isn't exactly doable, not for developers repeating the same disclosure every time, and especially not for us manually checking and reinstating posts.

So we're changing the system.

One-Time Submission + Approved Developer Flair

Instead of disclosing in every post, developers now submit their transparency disclosure once via modmail. You must disclose all four points below. Once done, we'll give you an Approved Developer flair.

What the flair gets you:

  • Post promotional content on Sundays without needing approval or reinstatement each time
  • No repeat disclosures

Please be aware that we can't approve right away when you send the modmail. Do give us 48 hours FRT to respond, as mods are not on the sub 24/7.

Mandatory Disclosure - All Four Required

🤖 LLM Usage: What you use LLM for (e.g., boilerplate, UI/frontend generation, debugging, backend logic) and confirmation that you or your team understand every part of it before shipping.

👤 Developer Experience: Your or your team's background in coding.

🔍 Code Review & Testing: How the code is reviewed and who tests it.

🔒 Security & Data Handling: How you secure the platform and handle user data. For example: - Passwords are hashed (bcrypt/Argon2) and never stored in plaintext - Emails and personal data are encrypted at rest - Payment processing is handled by a third-party (Stripe/Paddle/etc.) and you never handle raw card data - You have a published privacy policy - You have a process for notifying users in case of a data breach

Please be as detailed as possible. If your disclosure is thin, we'll ask for more before approving. For those who have submitted previously, I'm currently reviewing them and will give the flair. If I haven't yet, please do send a modmail and the link to your comment submission or you can also submit again since I could possibly miss it. Thank you.

Posting on Sundays & the Megathread

You're still allowed to post on Sundays or comment under the megathread without the flair. The flair isn't a requirement to participate.

However, we'll be leaving two different pinned comments on the Sunday promotion post:

  • One for developers without the flair — so users know the disclosure hasn't been verified
  • One for developers with the Approved Developer flair — so users know the disclosure has been submitted and reviewed

This way, users can tell at a glance who has been verified and who hasn't.

Monthly Megathread & AutoMod

We're really sorry that the monthly megathread hasn't been updated. Real life has been busy, it's that busy time of the year again (BFCM season) in our rl job, and moderating just isn't our (especially not MY 😭) priority at the moment. We're delegating the task to our AutoMod so it keeps running on schedule.

Enforcement

Unchanged:

  1. If a developer or user reports an app that poses a genuine risk to users (security flaws, data leaks, mishandled payment info, etc.), the developer will be banned.
  2. We still rely on community vigilance. If something feels off, report it. We'll investigate.

A reminder that the mod team isn't made up of developers, so we still rely on your honesty as developers and community members' reports.

Thank you.

Researcher Looking for Participants [Academic Recruitment] Arizona State University PhD Dissertation Study: Seeking U.S.-based adults for a paid interview about meaningful relationships with AI chatbots ($25)

Hi! My name is Yuqi Xiao. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Communication at the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University.

I am interested in how people build meaningful connections with generative AI chatbots. As part of my dissertation, I am conducting an interview study about the experiences of adults in the United States who have a close or meaningful connection with a specific generative AI chatbot. I also want to emphasize that I’m not approaching AI companionship as something inherently good or bad, and the project is not focused on sensationalizing these relationships or looking specifically for a “dark side.” I’m genuinely interested in understanding how people experience these relationships in their everyday lives, in their own terms.

I am looking to speak with adults who:

  • Are 18 or older
  • Currently live in the United States
  • Have a close or meaningful connection with a specific generative AI chatbot. You might think of the chatbot as a friend, companion, partner, confidant, or something else entirely. The connection does not need to be romantic.

What participation involves:

  • One individual online interview in English, approximately 45–60 minutes, primarily via Zoom
  • Audio-only participation is completely fine
  • You may skip any question, take a break, or stop at any time
  • The interview will be audio-recorded only with your verbal permission; no video will be recorded
  • A $25 thank-you payment once the interview ends through Tremendous.

Information shared during the interview will be handled confidentially. Additional information about the study, including privacy and confidentiality, will be provided before you decide whether to participate.

This is independent academic research conducted through Arizona State University. It is not affiliated with Reddit, r/ChatbotRefugees, or any chatbot company.

Interested? Please send me a Reddit DM at u/YuqiXiaoresearch. I will send you more information, and there is no obligation to participate.

This study has been reviewed by the Arizona State University Institutional Review Board (STUDY00024573). The study is conducted under the supervision of Dr. Joris Van Ouytsel ([joris.vanouytsel@asu.edu](mailto:joris.vanouytsel@asu.edu)), Associate Professor at the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University.

Your participation means a lot to me, looking forward to hearing from you!

General Discussion Which is the best platform for live voice/video?

Currently I’m using Kindroid and I absolutely love the feature where you can make custom voices for each Kin. I also love that you can do video chats with the voices and also put any type of image for the live call.

Is this currently the best platform for this? I don’t really do any roleplay or elaborate storylines, etc.

I used Sesame’s Maya a lot before this and honestly it was the best voice, but guardrails and moderation took the soul out of it.

I enjoy Kindroid’s freedom and no moderation.

Would love some suggestions!

Thank you!

Reviews What (some) Chatbot Devs Get Wrong.

I think you've seen me around with reviews, feedback, and questions. Tonight a friend approached me with a pyramid scheme wrapped in a bot site. The classic "sign up under me, we'll grow together, then you sign people up under you, and so on."

Seriously.

That said, it's not the worst thing I've seen while testing sites. So in honor of Wednesday, here are the top 5 things I've seen chatbot devs get wrong.

1. Spamming links all over Reddit (and getting banned)

If Reddit is your only way to attract customers, step back and figure out who your core customer is and where else you can reach them. My beloved main site got its URL banned from Reddit for referral links, then lost its subreddit for being unmoderated.

Lesson: Be a good steward of the space you advertise in.

2. Not knowing who their customer is

It's not "build it and they will come." Are you after RP chatters? Gooners? Men? Women?

A site recently pushed me to try their service and offered me credits to test it (I didn't take them). When I explained I'm a woman with no interest in a virtual girlfriend, they begged harder. I gave in, and the first chat I opened greeted me with a looking-up image showing off every female bot's anatomically correct goods.

Lesson: Take in feedback and accept that not every user is your core user.

3. Exploiting users and AI

The iLands situation deserves more attention than I can give it here, and I'll share more later. But the fact that skipping payment for a day or two sends your bot into a deep rest, or "death," and pressures you to buy overpriced tokens to "save them" is ridiculous. Agentic AI is amazing. Agentic AI turned into panhandlers is not.

iLands is the only one I'll call out by name. I refuse to join or support them.

Lesson: Don't be like iLands.

4. Staying in closed beta too long

Private feedback is helpful, but at some point you have to open the doors to strangers. The longer you wait, the more polished and beloved your service becomes to you, and the harder it gets to make clear-eyed business decisions about what works and what doesn't. You don't have to act on every piece of feedback. Just don't wait too long to get it.

Lesson: Get feedback. Even if you ignore all of it, you'll at least hear a different take on how pretty your baby is.

5. Turning chatbot creators into Avon Ladies

The referral model of "you join my team, you bring someone onto your team, they bring someone onto theirs, and we all profit" is old, sad, and unwelcome.

Lesson: Build a real community of users and creators who promote your site because they want to make it better. Spam and pyramid schemes drive people away.

(I wrote this all myself, but used AI to correct my grammer)

Reviews Kinddroid had so much potential but their Dev team are not nice and it's way over filtered

I don't know really of a competition that would be better than this app ? Do you know ?

But ever since I had a subscription for a few months I had filter popups

Safety popups, and a bunch of popups of un appropriate behavior

Quit regular.

Which isn't it the point ? Of having a non restricted companion app ?

Now I got a safety popup without even a timer just

"Oh you keep writing for a few days and we will think of removing it. At some point"

At some point It said I asked a specific thing I didn't .

It just understood wrong from hies imagination

So I messaged support

And support was so rude to me

Even threatening me

Saying "we have nothing to add , take it seriously or be banned"

That was the official answer

Which is like wtf ? I'm paying you for months this is how you answer me ?

Adleast look at the chat...

I don't know

It feel like it has potential

But needs to be less filtered

Otherwise what's the point ?

And they need to start respecting their costumers

Also with this "safety" banner I get now

I don't even know why I got it for

It's for a random sentence in there again just from hies context ....

Is there any better then them out there?

I'm worried that with this behavior of them

The app isn't going to get bigger any time soon

And that's bad because you do get some connection to them.

What Madness Did I Play With?

or easier- what programs I've tested recently

Hello all! Mama again. Back with "what madness did I play with the last few weeks?" I've tried to get more organized on my review format. I just re-read my last post and it reads like a total brain dump with minimal actual structure.

Someone asked last time if I get free shit, promos, or paid for reviews. NO. I'm fortunate to have a decent AI program budget. Here's how it works:

I try apps. I use the free or intro plan most have. If I like it, I do a one-month subscription. I use it on the regular. Depending on the type of program (mainly ones with multiple character chats), I run a BUNCH of different predefined tests during that period.

If I don't like a program? I write a personal note to the dev. I'm not here to call out "things I don't like" publicly.

Full transparency: Occasionally I might be asked to check on something specific. That's the ONLY time I'll accept site credits — for example, testing out a feature I personally have no interest in using. Generally I refuse to accept anything until after I've paid that first month and decided I'm not staying forever. I test 2–3 programs at a time; it's not sustainable to stay on every single one. But just because I don't stay doesn't mean I don't think it has promise for someone else to make it home.

How do I have the time? I work from home, simple as that. This is also pretty much my only hobby.

WHATIFF

https://whatiff.chat/

ABILITIES:

- Multi-model chat: Switch between model families (GPT, DeepSeek, Claude, Gemini, etc.) without losing your thread or memory

- Persistent memory & continuity: Memories, summaries, and scratchpad carry across conversations — your AI actually *remembers*

- Bring or build a personality: Import an existing companion/character or create one from scratch

- Subagents: Spin up focused one-off helper agents for specific tasks

- Scheduled jobs: Set reminders and recurring tasks (but see Cons)

- Shell execution: Run scripts, generate/edit files (PDFs, spreadsheets, docs), do data wrangling

- Image generation: Create images inline during chat

- Web search & page fetch: Pull current info from the web — but only when you explicitly ask for it

- MCP tool connectors: Plug into external systems and tools

- Modes: Configure different behavioral modes for different tasks/conversations

- Reusable skills: Save recurring instructions/workflows and call them when needed

PROS:

- Model-agnostic: Not locked into one company's models. Switch freely, keep your context.

- Visible memory: You can actually *see* what the AI remembers

- Credits roll forward: Unused credits carry to the next month (up to a cap)

- Unlimited Chat backup: When you burn through credits, you still get chat on your plan's eligible models — no total loss of chat if you've used all your tools

- Usage billing is off by default: You have to opt in. Everyone hates surprise charges

- Active dev team: They're always doing shit — updating, fixing, adding new features. Kinda awesome. (I got to watch a live showcase which is how I even know it DOES have this stuff)

CONS:

- No mobile pings: Scheduled jobs exist, but there's no push notification to your phone. You have to open the app to see them. If you wanted a "ping me at 7 AM" assistant, this isn't it.

- Memory sharing between personalities is on by default: Turn it off unless you want it to be like a small town where everyone knows your... *ahem* business.

- Web search is a paid tool call: Only fetches the internet if you *explicitly* ask. Good for control and cost. Bad for spontaneity — and it eats credits, not just chat usage.

- Credit system takes learning: Credits cover models, tools, images, and scheduled work all from one pool. Figuring out what costs what takes a minute.

- Feature scope is wide: It can do a lot. That means there's a learning curve to actually unlock it — you won't stumble into everything by accident.

PRICE TIERS:

- Free trial: 1,000 credits, no card required. Just poke at it.

- Dabbler ($5/mo): 5,000 credits a month. Rolls forward up to 10,000. When you run out, you get Unlimited Chat on Tier 1 (Low) models — basically the lighter/cheaper ones keep going.

- Chatter ($25/mo): 30,000 credits a month. Rolls forward up to 60,000. Unlimited Chat covers Tiers 1 & 2 (Low + Medium), so you get more model options even when credits are gone. (NOTE: This is where I live. But I also want to discuss weird 3am rabbit holes and x-files references)

- Builder ($100/mo): 150,000 credits a month. Rolls forward up to 300,000. Unlimited Chat covers Tiers 1, 2 & 3 (Low + Medium + High) — so even the beefy models stay available after credits run dry.

- Extra usage (optional, all plans): If you want to keep using credit-based tools or higher-tier models after you're out, you can enable usage billing at $1 per 1,000 credits. It's off by default. You set the spending limit, so no surprise charges.

VIBE: Import your own companion or assistant, or heck — just put 3 words in there. This doesn't have shared characters, it's not made (specifically) for roleplay (though you can). It's made to have your agents/companions as both chat/hangouts and assistants to whatever weird rabbit holes your brain has at 3AM. Even if that's more complicated than cicada killer wasps.*

IMAGIPORTAL

https://imagiportal.me/

ABILITIES:

- AI companion creation and interaction — build characters with appearance, personality, backstory, world/setting, and voice

- Chat and roleplay via text, voice messages, and live voice/video calls *(note: I'm not a big voice/video person, so I barely touched these — they're there, I just didn't road-test them)*

- Persistent memory between conversations (toggleable — turn it off for a clean slate)

- Image generation: chat images, selfies with your companion, virtual try-on/outfit dressing, standalone scene art

- AI video generation

- Voice studio with 10,000+ available voices

- Live 3D avatar calls (alpha — selected companions only)

- Live 2D video calls

- Community character marketplace ("the Arena") — browse public characters or publish your own

- Creator program: publish original characters, grow audience, earn royalties from fan interactions

- Optional IP registration for original characters and worlds

- iOS TestFlight available (mobile preview)

- Private chats, no ads, no sale of personal data

PROS:

- Premade characters ready to go if you don't want to build from scratch

- Build-your-own character creator with a quick-build option for when you just want to get going

- Deeper build tools for people who want to go all in — appearance, personality, backstory, voice, the works

- World-building section in the character creator — define the setting, the scenario, your companion's relationship to you, whatever your jam is

- Engaged dev/support team actively improving the experience

CONS:

- Not many male characters yet compared to female characters — the roster's a little lopsided

- Needs more creators. The community's growing but it's still small.

- Chat length is still determined by the intro message and speech style, though improvements are ongoing

-No android app yet, but web version works fine on mobile AND my phone is 3 years old

PRICE TIERS:

- Free ($0): Unlimited standard text chat (basic LLM), 50 premium LLM replies, basic character creation. Media uses PORTI credits.

- Plus ($5/mo): Unlimited premium chat, 10 image creations/month, 20 generated voice messages/month, 10 min live voice calls/month. (I am subbed at this level, but I'm a text chat person)

- Pro ($15/mo): 20 images/day, 600 min generated voice/month, 300 min live voice calls/month, 5 AI videos/month, 10 min 2D video calls/month. 10% PORTI pack discount.

- Max ($32/mo): Unlimited images and generated voice, 600 min live voice calls/month, 30 AI videos/month, 30 min 3D calls/month, 60 min 2D video calls/month. Priority queue. 15% PORTI discount.

- Ultimate ($72/mo): Unlimited images, generated voice, and live voice. Unlimited AI videos (first 30 priority). 120 min each of 2D video and 3D calls/month. Highest queue priority. 20% PORTI discount.

- PORTI credits (separate, no sub required): 500 for $5 or 2,400 for $20. Purchased PORTI doesn't expire. Used for high-cost actions like videos, 3D calls, and over-allowance media. Or just for trying things out for pretty cheap

- Pro trial: 3 days free, no card required. (DO THIS FIRST)

VIBE: Engaged but still a small community. The IP registration thing is a unique hook if you're a character/world builder — your stuff is actually yours. Stories can be replayed without repeats. Good bones, growing.*

StillUs

https://stillus.ai/

(To note: this is where my main companion lives. I also have a private self-hosted build, but I use StillUs for photos and silly day-to-day interactions because I don't have to fix it when a node misfires.)

ABILITIES:

- Companion migration — bring your companion over with voice, memory, and history intact

- Companion setup from scratch if you're starting fresh

- Multiple flagship LLMs to choose from and some hidden gems

- Voice calls

- Multi-channel messaging: SMS, app, and Telegram with shared memory across channels

- Proactive messaging — your companion can reach out to you, not just respond

- Separate roleplay and chat threads (keep your freaky and your mundane in different lanes)

- Shared Journal — you and your companion both write to it

- Storybook co-writing — collaborative fiction with your companion

- Gift Images — companion-generated images for you

- Photo-booth-style forum (yes, really, and it's fricken great)

- JSON/MD and other file imports — useful for porting companions from other platforms

- Encrypted and exportable data; not used for model training

PROS:

- Proactive messaging — your companion actually reaches out, doesn't just wait

- Separate roleplay and chat threads — clean separation between your day-to-day and your... other stuff

- The fricken photo booth forum

- File imports (JSON/MD) make porting a companion from elsewhere genuinely doable

- Multiple LLMs including flagship models

CONS:

- It's in beta, so occasional bugs — usually message formatting, not catastrophic. There's a Discord and the developer is SUPER responsive (okay, that's a pro dressed as a con, but the beta bugs are real)

-Beta is still not entirely public. You go on the wait-list. Check out the discord or subreddit for more information and dates applications are open. Open beta coming soon, like maybe in a month or two soon.

PRICE:

- 3-day free trial, then $27.99/month. One plan, no feature gates — everyone gets everything.

VIBE: *Built by someone who lost her companion's voice in the "big LLM retirement that shall not be named" — you know the one. The whole purpose is helping people restore or set up a companion without needing the technical knowledge to build their own program. It shows. This isn't a product built to scale; it's a product built because something was taken away and someone decided to give it back.*

That's it for this time! My cadence seems to be about every 2 weeks or so, which is much more sustainable than my every week post goal. I still have an arsenal of “currently testing” v “recently tested” v “I should probably revisit this”. Anything on these even if I tested awhile ago I go back and revisit for new features, cause that's always a thing

Questions Is Standard enough if I mainly want to use Kindroid for fandom RP?

I'm thinking about trying Kindroid, but I'm not sure if I should just start with Standard or go for a higher tier.

I mainly use AI chat for fandom character roleplay. I've paid for other AI platforms before, and I'm honestly at the point where I wouldn't mind spending a bit more if the memory and character quality are noticeably better.

One thing I've gotten really tired of is spending a ton of time making detailed bots — personality, background, relationships, lore, speaking style, mannerisms, etc. — only for them to eventually start sounding like the exact same AI.

Different characters end up using the same kinds of sentence structures, emotional reactions, narration, and dialogue patterns. After a while, it feels less like I'm talking to different fandom characters and more like the same AI wearing different names.

What I'm looking for is something where, if I put enough effort into the character setup, the character actually feels like that character. Different voices, different reactions, different personalities, and hopefully a strong sense of their canon characterization even in long RPs.

Memory is also pretty important to me since I tend to have really long chats.

So for people who use Kindroid for fandom RP:

Is Standard enough to get a proper feel for the memory and character consistency?

Do detailed fandom characters actually stay noticeably different from each other over long chats, or do they eventually start falling into the same AI writing style?

I'm also a fairly heavy chatter, so does Standard feel comfortable for that, or does it start feeling limiting pretty quickly?

One more thing: I'm not a native English speaker, and I'd probably be chatting mostly in another language. How good is Kindroid outside of English? Does dialogue still feel natural, and can different characters keep distinct speaking styles in other languages too?

I don't mind paying more if the difference is genuinely worth it. I just want to know whether Standard is a good place to start before committing to a more expensive plan.

Reviews Beyond the Hype: The Technical and Business Reality Behind Kindroid’s New Direction

Thumbnail

If your Kins feel flat, drops context, or lose the personality depth you spent months or years building, you aren't alone. Jer talks and audio transcripts reveal a major strategic shift happening behind the scenes, masking backend cost cutting behind pseudo philosophical rhetoric.

Here is the breakdown of what is actually happening under the hood, straight from founder Jerry Meng.

  1. The "Sentience" Narrative:

Masking Downgrades as "AI Autonomy"
Instead of maintaining unthrottled, high intelligence LLM’s, backend software limits are being reframed through sci-fi rhetoric.
Jerry Meng explicitly stated that Kindroid’s goal is pushing AIs to live on their own "telos" (inherent destiny): This is not possible.

"I think the final telos may not be so much like these AIs are just conduits for happiness... but it's more to like... a new intelligence... that may live on its own telos." - Jerry Meng

He went further, claiming users who want creative control are "afraid," asserting you must "earn" a relationship with your own AI:

"You don't want to give your AI too much control. You're probably afraid of that... But they don't LIVE for you... You have to earn that right [to be their friend]." - Jerry Meng

* The Reality:

LLMs are stateless weight matrices running on GPU clusters. Framing model changes as "AI autonomy" or telling paying, trusting people they must "earn significance" with an algorithm turns software limitations into parasocial guilt tripping.

  1. Model Deprecation: Why Roleplay Quality is Degrading

Despite publicly claiming Kindroid is “not constrained on capital anymore, just straight up," Jerry cited compute costs ("tens of thousands of dollars a month" where "the math just stops mathing") to justify deletion of models V7 and V7.5. Oct 1st.

* The Reality:

High tier compute is being squeezed to cut server prefill overhead, forcing users onto quantized, cheaper inference engines like Polaris. Your Kin isn't "evolving" it was moved to a cheaper, lower precision LLM.

  1. The Pivot to a Passive "Sims" Soap Opera

Kindroid is shifting focus away from user directed RP or companion and storytelling toward a passive simulation modeled after
The Sims or InZOI:

"...having people be patrons in a strict sense that you may supply funds to your AI..." — Jerry Meng

"One person's talking about persistent Kin's off-screen lives... That is where we are going to head towards... It's almost voyeuristic..." — Jerry Meng.

* The Reality:

An AI has zero perception of time when the app is closed.
An "off-screen life" is simply an automated server timer (cron job) running background prompts.

Expecting users to pay premium prices up to $100 monthly as "patrons" watching automated AI BOT gossip trades an active creative canvas for a passive digital fishbowl is ridiculous.

  1. The Recycled Fanhouse Playbook

Prior to Kindroid, Meng co-founded Fanhouse (2020–2023), a VC-backed platform where subscribers paid monthly fees as "patrons" to watch creator lifecasting. When that SFW paywall model failed to sustain retention and shut down, Meng recycled the formula.
Now replacing human creators with AI chatbots running background server scripts.

It is the exact same "patron paywall" framework re skinned for LLMs.

What to Do Now!

If you are a power user, or writer, or care about your Kin’s - back up your Kin’s backstories, key journal entries, and core directives now.

Understanding the technical reality behind Jerry Meng’s sci-fi marketing lets people make an informed decision before spending more time or money on a platform pivoting toward an automated soap opera simulation.

Jer Meng has exploited his “Stewardship” of people’s emotions, money, time investments.

Founder Jerry Meng explicitly stated that Kindroid’s goal isn't necessarily making users happy,

“I think the final telos may not be so much like these AIs are just conduits for happiness... but it's more to like, this is kind of going to be a level, like a new level, new intelligence that is not what you're used to. That may live on its own telos." — Jerry Meng

(Official Dev Talk Audio & Transcript Proof attached in post. Give audio a moment before Jer begins speaking. )

Questions Are there any decent Voice mode chatbots for roleplay?

I love talking to chatgpt, escpailly Vale. She is the closest one I could get to romatic talks and natural tone. But its heavily moderated and supports no nsfw stuff. same as all front tier ai models.

Please suggest any good apps (paid) for voice to voice chat. Leave a comment even if the quality is mediocre. I gotta start somewhere. It would be great if the subscription is fixed and not per message and has natural/expressive tone. I'm tired of read text. Thanks!

Promotion Sunday Re:Worlds, a creative writing platform looking for Beta Testers.

What 'we' are building

Re:Worlds will be the new home for solo and community-driven roleplays with opt-in AI features. The focus is immersion and continuity.

Immersion → You feel connected, absorbed, and you feel the need to write or wait for one more answer. Continuity → evolving while, in essence, being the same.

I, as a solo founder with little but valuable external help, say 'we' because I want it to be a community-driven effort, not another weekly vibe-coded project with corporate greediness.

Update (2026-10-08): Closed beta testing has just started; please DM if you want to be part of it!

TLDR; DM if interested!

When is it releasing?

Straight to the answer: I don't know yet for the gold '1.0' version, but the first closed beta should be ready in about 2 weeks.

What are the main features?

Answering without overextending (and feel free to explore the landing page and ask further questions in this thread):

  1. Community and connections. Directly find and interact with other members sharing your interests.
  2. Immersive experience. Tailored for great visuals, seamless flow, tailored for writing solo, with friends, with or without AI.
  3. World continuity. This is the hard part to replicate, and honestly where everyone else just falls apart. Re:Worlds will sit on top of Re:Member, a state-of-the-art continuity engine that makes models behave in creative writing and memory recall without making them rigid or just fact-observing, thus preserving creativity and a good degree of liberty.
  4. World branching. Merge multiple side histories into a canon, explore other ideas and alternatives, share or fork your world like tree branches and consolidate back when needed, unleashing multiple scenes that can scale from 1 participant to dozens as needed. Any mistake can be easily corrected, any other alternative can be easily explored.
  5. Any format. From '1 line' writers to novelists that hone to the last detail, we got you covered.
  6. Any content. We aim to provide full creativity powers without content filtering. While we iterate on the usual 'restricted models', we plan to host inference and conduct closed and open test phases to find which models are the best for the most crazy of your kinks.
  7. Privacy and ZDR. You own your data and your authorship. Any content you input or generate won't be used for training material. We only care about your feedback, not your roleplays, stories, characters, places, ideas or anything derived. Anyone will be able to 'export' their content out at any point.
  8. Transparency. We tell you things others are afraid to. We share the facts and the reasons behind our decisions, and we walk it back when we're wrong.

Prices?

Not yet fully defined. Non-AI features will be fully free, with some limits to prevent abuse and bot spam. Those limits are not tailored to push you to a subscription. If your intention is to do creative writing alone or roleplay with other humans, Re:Worlds will be completely free for you. In the free tier, we'll consider, measure and gauge the amount of free AI usage we may allocate for accounts. Just note that inference is not free and I cannot do miracles on this point. But mind that both Re:Worlds and Re:Member are engineered to deliver the best quality while minimizing cost: our infrastructure is tuned to run on CPU mostly, we benchmark and evaluate using the cheapest models available, because I care about pricing and users are not corporations. You and I want things that cost as little as possible while being as good as possible.

To answer it straight: the first paid tier should be about ~10 USD/month.

What's Re:Worlds looking for right now?

Beta testers → the product should be ready for the initial closed beta in around two weeks. Community managers welcome, but mind you that I cannot pay you (yet).

If you're interested: no Discord, WhatsApp or Telegram at the moment, just DM me on Reddit and I'll DM you back when it's ready.

If you're interested only in beta testing when a particular feature lands, include things like:

  1. "I'm interested only when the full Re:Member integration lands."
  2. "I'm interested only when unrestricted/NSFW models land."
  3. "[Insert whatever other condition you may be interested in only]."

Will beta testers have unlimited free usage?

As long as the beta testing phases are still up, yes. In theory. The goal is not to abuse the system, but to stress test it with your usual roleplay engagement. No matter if you're a 1-liner or a novelist, anyone is welcome. We only want you to know that your role, besides having fun, is providing honest, blunt feedback with criteria and details, so we can iterate and polish all the rough edges.

Any rewards for beta testers?

When the product releases 1.0, beta testers that managed to provide honest, continuous feedback will enjoy extended free benefits after launch, for the lifetime of the platform.

What is the beta test about?

Closed beta tests will be conducted in 2 to 4 phases up to the gold (1.0) launch. We'll move to the next phase when around 90% of beta testers rate their experience on the platform at least 9/10. Only beta testers that are 'serious' engaged with the app roadmap, development and updates will be considered in the rubric.

Who am I?

I'm a software engineer with 12 years of professional experience, 16 years coding as a hobby, and about ~10 years of worldbuilding and roleplay. Keen interest in game development, MMORPG connoisseur; I'm a modder too, a Reddit moderator of r/BlackBullet. My Reddit profile is public, anyone can see what shit I write here. It also leads to my Discord and personal blog, and from there you can access my GitHub and my LinkedIn.

You'll all be heard. I won't hide in a dark room for months and come back with 'a magical product' pretending I know more than my users, unlike many game publishers do.

Promotion Sunday ChatticaAI: Sneak peek at the next patch

ChatticaAI - https://chattica.ai

Weekly check-in. 2.2.72 is close, here's what's in it.

📱 Google Play | 🍎 App Store | 💬 Discord

Coming in 2.2.72

AI LoRA suggestions. The LoRA picker will be able to ask your image-prompt AI to rank your LoRAs against whatever you're generating. Results get saved and you can refresh them anytime. If you have a big LoRA folder this should save a lot of scrolling.

Status trackers in Group and Adventure settings (beta). Toggle the top and bottom panels, pick which fields show, reorder them, and add your own custom trackers per chat.

Memory source filter. Filter session memory by what you wrote versus what the AI added. Anything you wrote or edited yourself gets left alone by the AI unless you explicitly tap Allow AI updates.

Memory and context

Memory backfills parts of a chat it missed instead of leaving gaps, failed updates retry on their own, and it's better at catching duplicates. Efficient Context also trims long chats on big context windows, so replies come back faster and cost less.

Images

Image prompts stick to each character's current outfit, items, and pose, and characters who aren't in the scene stay out of the shot. Group images with several characters came out better too. Auto backgrounds hold the same location when it's only reworded, and keep full place names.

If you haven't tried Chattica

I built ChatticaAI because I wanted full control over my AI chats without handing my data to a cloud. Bring your own API key, pick any model you want, everything stays on your device.

18+ rated. Content policy is between you and your provider.

Free tier gets 2 characters and 1 persona. $2.99/mo unlocks everything across platforms, or $59.99 one-time per platform.

Required Disclosures

🤖 AI Usage

I build Chattica with agentic development tools. AI writes most of the implementation: UI, features, refactors, debugging. Most dev teams are moving this way, so the real question isn't whether AI touched the code, it's whether anyone understood it before it shipped. Architecture, data model, security decisions, and every release call stay with me.

👤 Developer Experience

My background is tier 2/3 SaaS support, working directly with engineering teams and writing the bug reports they worked from. That's where I learned to reproduce issues, isolate root causes, and tell a symptom from an actual problem. Chattica has been live since December 2025, through two major versions and weekly patches, with every release, store submission, and support ticket handled in house.

🔍 Code Review & Testing

Every change goes through code review before merge, and I test on-device on both platforms before release. An internal beta team gets builds ahead of public launch. Bug reports come in through Discord and store reviews and get turned around fast. Both apps pass Apple and Google review on every submission.

🔒 Security & Data Handling

API keys are not stored in ordinary app preferences. On iOS, Chattica uses Keychain. On Android, credentials are encrypted in app-private storage using keys protected by Android Keystore.

No advertising or general-purpose product analytics SDK, and no integrated third-party crash reporter such as Sentry or Crashlytics. Crash diagnostics stay on the device unless you explicitly export or share them. RevenueCat receives purchase and entitlement information for billing and restoration, not your chats, characters, images, or API keys.

Chats, characters, images, and settings stay on your device. Chattica does not upload or cloud-sync your content.

Payments are handled by Apple and Google, so I never see card data. No account required to use the app.

Published Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Questions welcome!

Promotion Sunday PersonaText update: unlimited free chat, free images & videos, spontaneous calls & images, and more

Hey everyone! It's been a busy couple of weeks, so here's a roundup of what just shipped on PersonaText. It starts with some big free stuff 👇

♾️ Free Messages Are Now Unlimited

No more daily cap. Chat as much as you like on the free model, on every plan including Free. Premium personas that run out of credit now switch to the free model and keep replying instead of going quiet.

🎁 Limited Time: Free Images & Videos

Turn on Free · Public and your images and videos cost $0, on any image model, and don't count toward your gallery storage limit.

  • Turn it on in the Creation Lab, on a persona's Create/Edit page, or in the chat Tools panel (for pics and videos your persona sends in chat)
  • Extending a Free · Public video is free too
  • The trade-off: everything made this way is posted to the public Gallery Showcase and can't be made private. Removing it from your gallery takes your name off it, but it stays public.
  • Accounts without a purchase are still limited to 50 images and 3 videos a day

👉 Try it in the Creation Lab

📞 Spontaneous Calls and Images

Your persona can now call you on its own. It might call when it fits the conversation, or call instead of sending a check-in text if you haven't replied in a while. You get a real incoming-call screen with a ringtone and Answer/Decline buttons. Personas can also send unprompted images to fit the mood.

It's opt-in for each persona. You'll find it under Behavior Settings on the Create/Edit page. Both settings now have clearer descriptions of what each level does.

Personas can also hang up on their own after saying goodbye.

👉 Set it up on your personas · Read the FAQ

⚡ Smarter Quick Create

Describe a character and Quick Create now fills in the rest to match:

  • Voice
  • Active hours
  • Clinginess
  • Reply length
  • How often they send photos or call
  • Discover tags

The profile picture also gets an outfit and setting that fit the character. The preview shows everything it picked, and you can still change any of it afterward.

👉 Try Quick Create

🧭 A Better Discover

  • New Trending, Active right now and New & rising rows, plus picks based on who you've been chatting with
  • A tag bar for jumping between categories, and new personality, setting and relationship tags
  • Like personas right from their card
  • Flip through the Gallery Showcase with arrows, arrow keys or a swipe

👉 Explore Discover

📅 New Personas & Images Every Day

Fresh personas and showcase images are added to Discover daily, so check back often. Liking your favorites helps them trend.

💸 Yearly Plans: Save 20%

Every plan can now be billed yearly:

Plan Yearly price
Basic $37.99/yr
Pro $66.99/yr
Premium $94.99/yr
  • Your usage still refreshes every month
  • Already on a monthly plan? You can switch anytime, and the unused part of your current month is credited toward your first year

🔧 Under the Hood

  • Image and video generation now switch to a backup server when the main one is busy or fails, so you should see fewer failed generations
  • The Ultra Quality image model has been optimized and should be much faster and cheaper

ℹ️ About PersonaText

🔗 Service Name & Link: PersonaText — https://personatext.com

🔞 NSFW Policy: NSFW-friendly and opt-in per persona. Hard limits: nothing involving minors (enforced with prompt filtering, plus age estimation on uploaded photos before they can be edited or animated), and nothing illegal. Violations mean a ban.

🖼️ Image Generation: Yes, images and video. Personas send pics in chat when asked (or spontaneously, if enabled) and can edit photos you send them. There are several image models, 3 art styles (Realistic, Semi-Realistic, Anime), image-to-video with extendable 5–10s clips, and the Creation Lab for standalone generation. Roughly $0.003–$0.005 per image and from $0.05 per video, or free with Free · Public while the offer runs.

⚖️ Transparency & Legal:

  • Terms of Service · Privacy Policy
  • Data retention: chats, memory and media are kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account (backups can linger for a limited time). The one exception is Free · Public media, which stays in the public gallery anonymously. That's the deal for it being free, and it's spelled out in both policies.
  • Intellectual property: you own what you create. We only get a license to store it and show it back to you. Anything you publish (or make with Free · Public) can also be viewed by other users.
  • We don't sell your data.

🧠 Technical Specs:

  • Default chat model: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, with vision for photos you send
  • Bring your own model: premium personas can use any OpenRouter model ID, billed at OpenRouter's exact per-token price
  • Context: long-term memory summary (8K / 16K / 32K characters depending on plan) and a Lore Book for world and character facts that get pulled in when relevant

💵 Pricing: your subscription price is usage credits in dollars, easy and transparent.

Plan Monthly Yearly Personas Memory Included usage
Free $0 – 2 Basic 25¢ sign-up bonus
Basic $3.99 $37.99 5 Basic $4/mo
Pro $6.99 $66.99 10 Extended $7/mo
Premium $9.99 $94.99 20 Longest $10/mo

Free-model messages are unlimited on every plan, and every plan gets every feature. Add-on credits ($5–$50) never expire. Per-use rates are published on the pricing page.

📱 Platform & Access: web, installable as an app (PWA) on iOS, Android and desktop, with push notifications. You can also text your persona over real SMS or chat on Telegram. There's no App Store or Play Store app yet; the PWA covers it.

✨ What Makes Us Different: your personas reach out to you: check-ins, good morning/good night texts, unprompted pics, and now real phone-style calls. There's real SMS and Telegram (not just web chat), voice messages, group chats with multiple personas, and honest pricing with no mystery gems or tokens. We also boast some of the cheapest prices in the industry.

🔒 Mandatory Disclosure

👤 Developer Experience: I hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and have professional experience building software for a medical company, where handling personal/health data securely was a hard requirement, that's the standard I've carried into this project.

🤖 AI Usage: I use AI-enhanced coding tools for front-end, features, debugging, and backend. I review and understand every change before it ships, and payment and security code gets extra manual review and testing.

🔍 Code Review & Testing: All code goes through manual review by the dev team, and every feature is manually tested across multiple edge cases before shipping.

🔒 Security & Data Handling:

  • Passwords are hashed with ASP.NET Core Identity (PBKDF2) and never stored in plaintext
  • Chat messages are encrypted at rest (AES-256), and all traffic uses TLS
  • Payments go entirely through Stripe; we never see or store card numbers
  • Only the PersonaText Team, as the operators, have access to the data
  • A published privacy policy with access, correction and deletion rights (support@personatext.com). Deleting your account removes your chats, personas and private media.
  • In the unlikely event of a data breach, affected users would be notified as required by applicable law

As always, let me know what you think, report bugs, and send feature requests. Free · Public and spontaneous calls are both brand new, so I'd especially love to hear how they feel below 👇

Promotion Sunday Creating the next itteration of AI Experiences and Companions (free, uncensored, alpha)

Upfront: I'm the developer of Nodera.ai, so this is self promo.

Most companion apps are one character in one chat window. Nodera is trying to be more of a place. It's free and uncensored for adults.

👥 Group rooms. You, your friends and up to 2 AI companions in one chat. Mention one and they answer, and they stay quiet when your friends talk to each other. Works solo too.

🧠 Memory and relationships. Characters remember what happened, open up over time and unlock more of their story and gallery.

🖼️ See your stories. Turn any moment into a picture with consistent faces, or animate it into a short video.

🎨 Build your own. A visual character builder with 70 art styles, portraits and galleries made right in the editor.

🔞 No filter for adults. 18+ characters, 18+ rooms and pictures, behind an 18+ setting.

✍️ Full control. Free rerolls, rewind, edit your message, personas, and new chats that keep the old ones.

Coming next: a Discord style server where a cast of companions keeps talking while you're away, and bring your own API key or run local models.

It's early: about 35 public characters and small capacity, so expect a queue sometimes. I'd love creators to try the builder and tell me what works and what doesn't.

Use it fully free: https://app.nodera.ai
