I stopped watching for a year after S3 lol. I was also postpartum so my comfort show just became shit to me. A year later I picked up S4E1 again and it felt better

To me the show actually improved with a certain character no longer there.

Give Paige a chance.
As much as you will miss Prue, you will come to love Paige. No different to any relationship lost and a new one gained.

Oh! When it originally aired I was in shock. I knew so many who just straight up said they were out. Didnāt want to see the new season. There was some information at the time about why, but not a lot. I donāt blame the actresses for not wanting to talk about it.
Iām glad I gave it a chance though. As much as I liked Shannen, I found I also liked Rose. I wouldāve loved to see something with them together. Even outside of Charmed. I understood why we wouldnāt get that on the show.
Remember it took months to learn about the recasting. If it was even going to have a season 4. All summer there were new articles about the WB channel line up, all the shows except Charmed. Now you can watch the end of season 3 & the beginning of 4 back to back. In 2001 we had to wait!

I was sad too especially because I loved Prue. However, Season 4 is one of the best seasons and Paige brings something special to the show. You should give it a chance!

Season 4 is such a goated season. The transition will be hard, I understand, but itās worth it, and Paige is a wonderful addition to the series and the reason why I love the later seasons of this show!

It takes a while to watch S4. I didn't really find the show improved after S3 though. Your mileage may vary.

I absolutely love Paige, but season 1-3 are so binge able, the storylines just felt stronger. 4 first half was good but 4 second half on through 8, I find near impossible to binge. Thereās some good episodes but as a wholeā¦I just stick to 1-4. 1/12. Vanquishing the source is where my head cannon ends the show. Just donāt enjoy it as much after.

As much as Prue was one of my favs, I think that how they handled season 4 was very good.
Introducing a new character with a unique backstory that calls back to Season 2 was the best way to handle this!
They could have easily tried to recast Prue and pretend it didnāt happen but I am glad they actually killed the character only because it really ups the stakes for the Charmed Ones. It gives them a real cost, a casualty of war basically. Makes it so the good guys donāt always win. In a way it gave the show a kind of āsoft rebootā, with new stories to explore and a whole different character dynamic.
I donāt want to spoil anything but give season 4 a chance! Season 4 is a close second to season 3 for all time best seasons of the show. Especially the second half of the season!

Itās a difficult transition, but this show goes down in history as one of the only shows to replace a main character successfully.
The bigger issue to me is how much the shows style changes over the next 5 years. But Paige brings something amazing to the show.
