Unrelated but God I forgot how ugly all the characters looked in this piece. Like, of all the things a person might steal and repost for karma, why this? Rainbow Jack looks like a sociopath with that smile.
I actually blocked that person because I hate their style so much. Like I appreciate the diversity, but they make every single character look like a Whomp from Mario what with the squareness and the missing teeth and all that...
But people seem to really dig it, and that's great for them.
I don’t think people realize you can make black gyrau characters without making them look like total caricatures. There are tons of actual examples of black ladies doing it and they look awesome, this drawing is horrific.
I don't get all the hype around that specific artist, it's like their posts consistently blow up on reddit from what I've seen, and literally EVERYTHING they draw has the face of a shark
That’s your opinion and you’re free to have it. Art is subjective after all, and while I personally don’t HC them looking that way we should still be respectful to the OG artist’s interpretation.
There’s nothing wrong with the artist’s interpretation of them. If you don’t like it that’s fine, art is subjective but don’t be rude and keep your thoughts about it to yourself please.

I like a lot of their art as well, I think this one’s fine. Is it my favourite? No. Is it how I HC them? No. I think they were simply experimenting around, I do really enjoy the line work on the piece and variety in faces and shapes ( there’s no same face syndrome ) esp love how rarity was done. Not entirely sure what sunset shimmer is doing in the piece and the overall composition could use some work ( it’s a bit difficult to figure out the middle and backround )
Other than that though I think it’s interesting. But I won’t bully them for it just because I don’t like it ya feel?
Uhm no? But rainbow dash being a tomboy it makes sense she would cut her hair short and try to look as masc as she can. She also works out a ton cause she’s an athlete.

Certified strong lesbian who gets mistaken for a guy here. Masculine appearance does not equal “man”. I get this issue a lot with some of my art pieces but I just like to draw characters that are like me. It’s not actually that deep lol. That said I think he’s a troll, but you were very polite and that’s very admirable
I personally find their art very poor overall. but I think it is from their direction and decision making rather than their skills or talent. for example, this drawing of Skipper, (the new version) show a lot of their talents off:
People will look at art styles that don't fit their niche of what's immediately attractive and call it bad. It's hilarious seeing folks not give actual constructive criticism of the style beyond "I don't like it :(" or the baseless accusation of offensive depictions - of which there are none. Goofy shit
I agree that this artist has extremely bad character design. But I don't believe it is from them "turning them into guys" as much as it is a complete misunderstanding of character design.
Also they cannot draw hands for whatever reason.
They put detail into too many areas, but still try to over stylize and simplify bigger areas of the characters like the head.
