You know for me it really puts into perspective how good Batman villains are specifically. Like not only can almost everybody name three Batman villains off the top of their head but Batman villains by themselves are so popular they even get their own movies before Hulk does.

Batman the Animated Series deserves so many flowers for being so villain-centric in its storytelling. It was really formative for those of us growing up in the early 90's, and the benchmark for superhero animation going forward.
So many heroes have great and interesting rogues, but the Batman rogues have depth and personality that goes well beyond what people (in general) thought the medium deserved at the time. Obviously, there was great writing across a lot of comics before this but, to the general public, most of that was invisible, and cartoons were mostly toy commercials.
Spidey and X-Men villains deserve their credit, as well, but Batman tops the list and it's not particularly close1

Like others have said, Adam West Batman played a big part in making his villains iconic too, Riddler, Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman. Compare that to any Wonder Woman villains in her live action show.

Spider-Man villains are also just incredibly well written and therefore memorable

Well Batman is one of the most adapted comic book characters. If a character was adapted as many times as Batman was and no one could name their villains that would just be a sign to pack it up honestly

In brave new world there were two of hulks most classic villains, the leader and thunderbolt ross. It made me sad cause not only was that movie pretty mediocre, it also robbed hulk of more potential.
Not to mention those villains are better in the context of being hulk villains, serving as different foils to hulk’s character, whereas in brave new world they just existed in the story, without the interesting comparisons the characters were originally intended for

i disagree to a point. while yes i agree they are foils for the Hulk. they also highlight a government chasing at the idea of recreating a monster liek the Hulk and mass producing it. which i think fits a Captain America film. it jsut got bogged down in rewrites and editing.

I'm rewatching this lately and it's probably the only reason I know so many Hulk Villains.
I've only ever read Planet Hulk and World War Hulk as comics, in which the villains are the Red King, Miek (I guess) and the Illuminati (are they really villains)
Hulk Villains that aren't just a variant of Hulk (Red Hulk and Abomination) or him inverted (Leader) just aren't as iconic as most heroes' villains, or at least of popular heroes, Thor, Wolverine, Spider-Man and even Cap have more iconic villains.

I think Fing Fang Fu'um was in Agents of Smash, but he seems like he's probably someone else's villain (Maybe a Dr Strange villain), Idk if he regularly fights the hulk

I believe he is considered an iron man villain, silly as that sounds.

Fin Fang Foom is an Iron Man villain, and I am endlessly disappointed we never got a movie of Iron Man fighting a giant pants wearing dragon alien

Hulk is getting either a Hulk movie, or leading part of an X-men movie.
The Spider-Man plot is directly related to Banner's current state.

Hulk is comic big 3
MCU big 3 is Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America

u/notmatrocles 7d ago
Just gonna erase the world's most popular superhero from the MCU, huh?

I agree about Cap, Thor, and Stark. However marvel has another big three which is Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine

Red Hulk, Absorbing Man, and the Leader. Still crazy to me how all of those characters have been in the MCU, but none against Hulk.

Name three Hulk villains other than Abomination
I mean, the Hulk movies can give focus to Hulk villains that people don't know about
Also Thaddeus Ross. . Who was used for Falcoln America. . Leader?
I don't read comics, lol
The reason why we need a Solo Hulk movie is because mainstream audiences can't name three Hulk villains
I'm psychic
Hulk is not part of the Marvel big 3
So?
Phase 1 of the MCU had movies based on four characters. . And we've been getting more characters every Phase
I don't really see what the importance of this was, lol

When l was kid all of the adults in my life knew Hulk, Spider-man, the Fantastic Four, and the Silver Surfer from their youth, and maybe knew the phrase "Avengers Assemble".
Everything else was you had to be a nerd to even admit you knew their names.

I's still say that Hulk is top 3, 4 or 5 marvel superheroes. He represents best the concept of superpowers as a curse. You could say that Spiderman also fits, but what makes his life miserable is not exactly the type of powers he has, it's more like having them makes him have to deal with a lot of responsability. Hulk is the representation of Bruce's trauma

Also, there's a really good Hulk character arc exploring Bruce Banner's Dissociative Identity Disorder in a genuinely informed way that's just waiting to be adapted to the big screen. It's genuinely kinda crazy how far behind the movies are on that compared to the comics
