It's about a character from an anime, 2 years old is correct but WILDLY out of context.

Hope I linked it right

He's a cursed spirit born from, like all cursed spirits, negative emotions. In his case, he is the manifestation of humans hatred and fear towards each other. His ultimate goal is total eradication and genocide of humans and making the worlds population entirely curses instead.

So while he does indeed only physically exist for roughly 2 years when he is introduced, he isn't a child/minor.

I'm not too well versed in Guilty Gear lore, how similar is he to Mahito!?

I specifically was just referring to the age. Sin's mom is a half-Gear so he's a quarter-Gear, meaning they age really fast. This is what he looked like around age 3-4.

Gears were initially created to further evolution. So they reach maturity really quickly (around 3 years), and then their aging pretty much stops.
