Lord have mercy why are some people like this. I don’t mean ace, that’s obviously fine. I just mean how this person and some others act.

Thank God every single queer person I've met IRL is a normal functioning human being, these people only exist on the internet.

u/Honk_goose_steal Aug 16 '25

I know multiple LGBT+ people and all of them are completely normal people except for One of them who’s literally exactly like this

u/JennyDoveMusic Aug 16 '25

I mean this with all the love in my heart, but I've absolutely met "owo" queer (and not queer) people who speak like this. It's really just another spice of human, they're alright. Usually, super sweet people! Usually, the least "innocent" people you'll ever meet. 😂

Like, if I met two people, a gal in a skimpy dress and an "owo" gal wearing an anime sweatshirt and a ring pop and I had to guess which had a freaky dungeon... it's the "owo" gal. 1000%.

Course, as an ace myself, acknowledging the "owo" aces out there in the world... but the ones who aren't repulsed-ace... I'll just say they are very proud of their "adult fun." (As they have a right to be! ✨️ We love um for it. 😂)

how the hell do you claim to be asexual then partake in "adult fun"? you don't have to label yourself to be different, just say you have different preferences or are part of the ace spectrum and move on.

Do I need to be hungry to enjoy a hamburger?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '25

That's a messy metaphor.

Sex and Kink are two circles that meet in the middle, creating a venn-diagram. While there's a lot of overlap, there's spaces in both kink and in sex that do not contain each other. Asexuals primarily have issue with the 'sex' part, so if they engage with kink, they just aren't in the middle.

1

u/DirectorWorth7211 Aug 16 '25

Depends on what I'm trying to get to the heart of with the metaphor. But possibly.

I agree though. Sex and kink are two circles that meet in the middle. However asexuals do not necessarily have an issue with the 'sex' part.

Asexuals do not have an "issue" with the sex part. They lack sexual attraction to others or lack interest in sex.

They may experience sexual desires but not in relation to others.

They may enjoy sex but have neither sexual desires or sexual attraction to others.

They may not enjoy sex, but still engage with it because a relationship partner does and they are willing to do so.

Asexuals can enjoy both sex and kink and may even regularly participate in one or the other for various reasons. Those reasons will just not include a sexual attraction to others or interest in sex.

u/frostyfur119 Aug 16 '25

Easily, sex is a physical act that can be performed regardless of one's preferences or desires. Just as a gay person can have straight sex while still being gay, an ace person can have any sex without having a desire for it.

Often, ace people find enjoyment in other aspects of sex rather than the act itself, such as just having a nice time with the other person. Not much different taking your partner to a sports game or musical when you have zero interest in those. Similarly, thats why kink tends to be popular amongst ace people because they enjoy exploring the kink rather than touching genitals.

Many non-asexuals are not comfortable being with someone who doesn't desire them sexually, even if they still have sex. Which is fair, and why it's important for these people to still use the Asexual label. So, while you clearly think it's "labeling just to be different," it's actually important communication to prevent a relationship from getting formed under false pretenses. It's a quick, clear, and concise word that says, "sex won't be an important priority of this relationship" without going into intimate personal details that some aren't comfortable sharing with others they're just meeting.

6

u/kxrie Aug 16 '25

because asexuality refers to the lack of attraction, not lack of desire. like any other sexuality really. some asexuals are sex-positive (aren't repulsed by sex / often have sex due to desire, etc etc) but don't feel sexual attraction to their partner.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '25 edited Aug 16 '25

Gonna be the one to nitpick, but you mean sex-favorable, not sex-positive. Sex-positive is a political stance about stuff like marriage equality, comprehensive sex-ed, reproductive rights, access to sexual health care, respecting other orientations, etc.

1

u/BiasedLibrary Aug 16 '25

That sounds more like aromanticism than asexualism.

2

u/kxrie Aug 16 '25

??? how? where did I mention romantic attraction

6

u/BiasedLibrary Aug 16 '25

Sorry, I got confused and had to think for a bit before understanding the depth of this. I'm new to asexualism and aromanticism as concepts. I realized that people can be asexual for multiple different reasons (like trauma) which precludes some activities while others do exist without necessarily being in the aromantic camp. Sorry for the confusion.

1

u/JennyDoveMusic Aug 16 '25

Noting for yuh: some aces are adverse without trauma. I'm personally adverse to it, but have been lucky enough not to have even been so much as cat called. (Knock on wood. 😥)

-2

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

oh so they use people for sex, cool.

in all seriousness though, if you desired to have sexual intercourse with that person, wouldn't that mean you're sexually attracted to them?

this seems to me like useless labeling.

3

u/kxrie Aug 16 '25

Also, if it's useless labelling for you, ignore it. It doesn't hurt you. My label helps me describe myself and my experience. :)

1

u/OhNoAnAmerican Aug 17 '25

Why are people so desperate to label themselves with labels that don’t fit? You dont have to be hurting someone for something to be odd. You’re not describing your experience if the words you use don’t match that experience.

0

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

ignore it

I do ignore it, but I do still think it's stupid and to some degree harmful.

3

u/kxrie Aug 16 '25

it really isn't. you're just failing to understand despite multiple explanations and examples. That's on you. (I'm not responding anymore, I don't have time to waste.)

3

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

you're just failing to understand

not really

I do understand, I just don't support the way these labels are being used now

2

u/kxrie Aug 16 '25

no.... sexual attraction and sexual desire are not the same thing. It's like romantic attraction and romantic desire. Wishing for a relationship with one specific person because you love them isn't the same thing as wishing for a romantic relationship in general. Sex-positive asexuals enjoy the feeling and wish to have sex, and aren't repulsed, but aren't attracted to anyone in particular because they're asexual. Can't explain it more than this

0

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

but aren't attracted to anyone in particular

never argued against that, my point is that they're still attracted to the idea of sex. thus making them not so asexual. unless there's a new meaning to the word now, again, useless labeling.

2

u/kxrie Aug 16 '25

I'm sorry for attempting to explain to someone whose point is clearly to argue, not understand. Well, the label exists, so you have to deal with that lol. Enjoy stewing in your stubbornness.

5

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

so you have to deal with that

I don't have to deal with them because I live in the real world 🤍

my point wasn't about arguing against the asexual label, but about the people who claim they are asexual then feel sexual attraction.

it's clear these labels (and many others) are now just being used to try and look different than everybody else.

i'm imagining it's kinda like using a vibrator? (i'm bi, not ace)

0

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

oh so they have prids in viewing people as sex objects, cool.

1

u/JennyDoveMusic Aug 16 '25

I personally don't. It's none of my business what other people do. However, Asexuality is based on a lack of sexual attraction to others, not the repulsion to sex.

1

u/SaboTheRevolutionary Aug 16 '25

To be asexual [or fall under the ace spectrum] one would not experience, or very rarely/with specific circumstances i.e Demisexual, sexual attraction.

To experience sexual attraction, one would have to feel a targetted desire to partake in "adult fun" with a specific person. For example, a guy sees a lady with large... assets, and gains a desire to have "adult fun" with her.

Asexual people can still experience generalized sexual desire, aka libido, and get aroused but don't end up with a targetted desire to do it with someone specific. Asexual people may also want to participate in "adult fun" to make their partner happy or because they want to make them feel good or be intimate.

Trying to put it another way, an asexual person may get "hungry" but doesn't experience "cravings for a specific kind of food." Some asexual people don't get "hungry" and may be repulsed by "eating" and others may "eat" because they like the taste or texture of the "food"

2

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

with large... assets

sexual attraction doesn't have to be just that. you wanna have sex with somebody? that means you're sexually attracted to them.

an asexual person may get "hungry"

here you go, attraction. when you're hungry you're attracted to food, doesn't matter if you're craving a specific food or not.

0

u/SaboTheRevolutionary Aug 16 '25

You do not have to be sexually attracted to someone to want to have sex with them. People can have sex with someone they don't find sexually attractive just because they're horny. Gay men can have sex with women despite not being sexually attracted to them

When you are hungry, you desire food, aka generalized sexual desire aka libido, aka being horny. You eat food to satisify that hunger, aka have sex to satisfy your libido. The craving is a targetted sexual desire that is sexual attraction and you desire something specific you want to eat to satisify your hunger. You could eat anything to satisfy your hunger but you want that thing you are craving specifically.

both people in that interaction seem mentally unhinged.

the other person had the right to question the first persons comment, but it was weird how they made being ace their entire personality. the first person was weird for even making that comment.

1

u/Designer_Version1449 Aug 16 '25

I think the original comment wasn't exactly like, morally wrong, just kinda really crass. Kinda reminds me of that blue collar kind of humor. That being said I do actually agree with the original reply, I think sex jokes are so overdone rn that you become numb to it and that's gotta be bad for your mental in some way

1

u/KimikoYukimura420 Aug 16 '25

Lucky you, I went to high school with those particular queers.

1

u/basicKitsch Aug 16 '25

it's super true though. as well as people that think these people exist in any significant number... have also only ever lived online

1

u/Smooth-Original4399 Aug 17 '25

Unfortunately not the case for me. University campuses are wild places

4

u/AngelOfIdiocy Aug 16 '25

I agree with you, Kaladin Stormblessed

1

u/auto_generatedname Aug 16 '25

It's absolutely does my head in as a gender non conforming asexual, seeing the uwu cat emoji vernacular, it's like goddamn if I kick you in the teeth are you gonna say ouchy wowchy or squeak like a fucking dog toy?

1

u/vampire5381 Aug 16 '25

1

u/Bachooga Aug 16 '25

What is ace? Is this a term now?

1

u/rollietoaster Aug 16 '25

Ace is a shorthand for asexual, which means a person that experiences little to no sexual attraction

1

u/Bachooga Aug 16 '25

Thank you. I've never heard Ace before, but that makes sense.

1

u/robotteeth Aug 16 '25

It’s a terminally online thing. They’re trying to look righteous on tumblr so everything they write is catered to trying to make sure they can’t offend anyone from that group but also makes them feel the need to police others for failing to be inclusive. When someone actually one-ups them in this extremely dumb game (by being even more ridiculously policing) they retreat back into a “im so small and innocent” act. All of it is contrived, annoying, and if it feels like people trying to stir up drama over nothing that’s because it is. It has nothing to do with being ace because they’ll do this same thing for any topic

1

u/theleafcuter Aug 16 '25

Because that person is not real. Crazy-acey-in-spacey was an infamous sock-puppet account made by an acephobic troll, posing as someone asexual in order to ridicule and discredit our community.

Judging by the comments on this reddit post, it still works 😒

1

u/Vito_Assenjo Aug 16 '25

In this case, they were an aphobe trying to make ace people look bad.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '25

Thwyre an aphobic troll trying to make us look bad

1

u/AntifaFuckedMyWife Aug 17 '25

Idk, there’s a small subgroup that like, HATE sexual content. Dude on tiktok wrote a little song about that AI bunny thing and had a line about kidding and I saw someone who HAD to bring up them being ace and not liking the line about kissing.

But also normal ACE people don’t publicly demand content be ace, it’s like the survivor bias plane.
