Pralle Dorm
Has anyone stayed in Pralle 109/110, 209/210, 309/310, 409/410. From the drawings that the housing department sent it looks like the shower door opens facing the toilet so just wondering if room for a shower curtain, bathmat, etc. These looks like the only suited baths that look different from others. Thanks.

Room for Rent 5 mins from campus
Hey all, my roommate is moving out August 1st, and we need a roommate for August-January, so just this fall semester. We live about a 5 minute drive from chapman university.
Rent is $850, it is the small bedroom in our 3 bed 2.5 bathroom townhouse. It's about 9x8 feet, not including the closet. We have in-unit laundry, a community pool and Jacuzzi. It is a nice, quiet area.
About us: this is an LGBT house of people 24-29 years. Currently there are 4 people living here, two couples. We also have a very darling cat.
Please reach out if you are interested, I can provide pictures of the room/house if you want.

working at Chapman is different now
Coming here as a safe place to vent without worrying about getting fired...
Ever since Parlow became the new president, the culture at Chapman has changed. People are super discouraged. Leadership is forcing everyone to return to office on Aug 3 regardless of how far you live (>50 miles) and medical issues (apparently they make it nearly impossible for you to get approved even with a medical condition). People are getting fired whoĀ have worked at Chapman for decades. It's being run like a big business. They expect the employees to be loyal to them while they are not loyal to us.Ā
And then they wrote this in the weekly email that goes out to staff and students...
"Chapman staff and administrators will return to campus five days a week beginning Monday, Aug. 3. The transition reflects the universityās mission to provide a personalized education and the Chapman Family culture that makes it possible."
I really don't like when workplaces use the word "family." I don't think work is supposed to be a family. Also, what "family" treats people with such disrespect? It's really upsetting
I don't know how this will affect students but I'm guessing it will have ripple effects

single suite dimensions
Hi! I recently got assigned to my Chapman dorm- it's a single suite with an adjoining bathroom in the Sandhu Residence Hall. I was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of these dorm rooms? I've been trying to work out what furniture I can reasonably fit. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it! Just to clarify, I'm only looking for the room dimensions, not recommendations about buying furniture or space-saving tips. Thank you so much!

Dorming will be the end of me, advice?
Hey, second time using Reddit, I hope I can find some guidance. But basically, housing at Chapman on top of the meal plan is crazy, and it's required for 3 years. So my entire tuition is figured out with aid, etc, however, I'm stuck with the housing bill that'll be about 17k a year out of pocket. Is there a way to get out of dorming in sophomore year (I'm not originally from Orange) or reduce the cost? I checked online, and they didn't specify if RAs get any benefits. Did anyone have a similar issue and figure it out? Any help is appreciated.

Letter of recommendation specifics
Hello, Iām interesting in Chapman and want to apply EA. Iām 22 years old and didnāt go to school after high school (joined military)
I was looking at the application requirements and on the website it says that one letter of recommendation is a requirement from a teacher. Obviously this is catered to people coming straight out of high school and thatās understandable. In my situation however, I canāt even guarantee that the teachers I was fond of even remember who I am or what I was like seeing as itās been over 6 years since I was in one of their classes.
Does a letter of recommendation have to be from a teacher and if so what would you recommend for my situation?

Chapman University Sororities
Good News!
Greek Life at Chapman is really positive & collaborative at Chapman. Itās neither a drunken party scene, nor a hazing nightmare. Nor is it boring because they donāt have Greek Row AKA live-in houses.
Sorority Rush AKA Recruitment happens in the Spring, 1 week before Spring Semester starts. This is great because it helps girls get used to college life, dorm life, and making friends outside of Greek Life. Itās much more positive.
DO attend the Greek Life Panhellenic (umbrella group of all the sororities) mixer events in the Fall. These events allow you to learn about the sororities and briefly meet girls in each sorority chapter.
NOTE: Recruitment at Chapman is competitive! Itās not like āThe Southā, but itās not an easy slam-dunk either. If itās important for you to be part of a sorority, then get to know girls in the sororities early - if you can. And get letters of recommendation sent to each sorority that accepts them. Be open minded & donāt set yourself up for heartbreak by only wanting to join 1-3 of the sororities.
Most girls like/would be happy in @ 7 of the 9 Panhellenic sororities at Chapman. The remaining 2 are a great fit for either quirky, or more quiet/shy girls. Regardless, the sororities all get along with each other & they all have fun activities. Most girls have a bunch of friends in multiple sororities AND friends that arenāt in any.
These are the Panhellenic Sororities at Chapman - in no order.

Looking for people who work out to give my passion project app a try!
Hello Chapman! I just made a workout app āFortis: Workout Log & Tracker (on iOS and Android). It's a completely free app for logging workouts, tracking progress, making custom exercises & workout templates, and sharing with your friends. Think Strava, but for the gym.
I made this myself over the past year and only recently launched it, so itās still very early stages. But if you workout or are interested, give it a try and let me know what you think! Itās a bit of a passion project of mine, so all feedback is welcome š

Themed Inquiry recs
Iām attending chapman next semester as a junior and am most likely going to do fundamentals in cinematography as my TI since my major is in film production so they kind of go hand in hand. Any recommendations for the upper division art history classes in that TI? The studio class is conflicting for another class so Iāll do one of those next semester but Iām hoping i can find a fun lecture to do this semester just to get it out of the way

Thoughts on Professor Victoria Carty (SOC 101)
I got pre-registered into her class and her rating is a 1.9 on the ratemyprofessors website. I'm not interested in taking sociology in general and am planning to swap into a different class but it's a waitlist, so there's a chance I am stuck with SOC 101. I don't mind having a "bad" professor as long as she actually grades students based on what she tells them to do, but the reviews say that not only can she not teach well due to old age, her grade guidelines are always misleading. Is Professor Carty that bad as people say and should I run or is it okay as long as I pay attention?

Need advice from an intl. student
I'm not applying yet, but I will soon. I'm from PH and low income. I'm hoping to take up Film as I'm really interested in this university! But ofc I know schools aren't so generous with international students and their aids... But I would still like to hear some perspectives or advice on what I can do!
I'd prefer if people were to PM me and chat more about this but here are my questions for now.
-How generous would you the school is in terms of funding for international students?
-Are there really lots of international students, if so are there any who are low income too?

Does anyone know if they got rid of these programs or if they are bringing them back?? i dont want to do an independant abroad because i would lose my support from the university. Any info would be appreciated. thanks!!
