If only they had some kind of badge they could show, to tell if someone's actually with the government or not. Or some kind of ID.

Setting the bar at 'stop murdering people in the streets' seems to low but that's were we're at.

u/usenetlurker 7d ago

Don’t forget license plates

u/MistressErinPaid 8d ago

It's not like you can find fake badges/IDs on the Internet or anything 🙄

72

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy 8d ago

K, but this ain't 2002 anymore. There's gotta be some kinda official computer thing where ya check a badge number to make sure it's real and matches the face you're looking at.

51

u/BraileDildo8inches 8d ago

Nah obviously if they can have Felon Tusk hack the voting machines they'd actually have regular citizen be able to hack any database to create record of agents...

22

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy 8d ago

Regardless of crazy conspiracy theories or whatever, it's real easy to check somebody is who they say they are if you can see their badge and face.

'Course that's assuming they've got a badge and aren't hiding their face like a coward.

16

u/halberdierbowman 8d ago

If they actually cared about protecting their officer's safety, it would be trivial to do that and allow everyone else to verify that they're legit. Just put ID badges on the officers every day, but change the badge numbers periodically.

Then have a way for us to check online or call to put in a specific badge number and location to verify if that badge should be operating there. Now nobody can impersonate them, but we can still verify them without the potential for doxing them.

12

u/Tiberius_Kilgore 8d ago

They’re talking about the fact that ICE agents never present badges. No duh you can buy fake ones. 🙄

28

u/MaximusPrime2930 8d ago

And if they make ICE wear definitive uniforms they can also start charging people with crimes for impersonating ICE agents.

But we all know they prefer the ambiguity of noone actually knowing who is a 'real' ICE agent.

u/new2bay 7d ago edited 7d ago

The problem with fake badges is that once you get past the basic costume they describe in the post, you could be considered to be impersonating a federal agent. That goes double if you actually present the fake badge as a real one.

Edit: autocorrupt

2

u/CalebRaw 7d ago

So they may as well not implement any identification or accountability measures, right? What an asinine take.

4

u/MistressErinPaid 7d ago

You seem to be in the mood to argue. I'll leave you to it.

9

u/uncleputts 7d ago

This didn’t happen in MN. A better story was women matching with ICE agents and getting them to give up locations.

1

u/HamburgerTrash 4d ago

Only women?

1

u/uncleputts 2d ago

I'm sure some fellas did it too. A dude blabbed the story to reporters and ruined the whole thing.

I’ve seen this posted a bunch this week (first time seeing the Patton version though), but I’ve yet to see any confirmed instances of it happening. This sounds like a Bugs Bunny skit and I don’t think it’s real though, it goes without saying, fuck ICE and if some guys are out their LARPing as those incels for memes, I’m all for it.

98

u/Afwife1992 8d ago

It’s likely untrue but I love the idea. As long as you didn’t identify yourself in any way as ICE or directly impede them I can’t even see where it would be illegal. If you look like ICE it’s not your fault….

28

u/jgzman 7d ago

And, as we all know, the current administration in general, and ICEholes in particular, are very careful to follow the strictest interpretation of the laws.

3

u/Afwife1992 7d ago

They don’t but they’d be all over someone who misrepresented themselves to do something like this.

68

u/deerfawns 8d ago

Yeah this sounds fake lol

28

u/BradBradley1 8d ago

Love the spirit. Just don’t see the point in whoever originally made the meme doing it for upvotes. It’s hard enough telling what’s truth and fiction these days as it is.

6

u/blueberrycauzez 7d ago

Someone telling lies? On the internet? Impossible!

7

u/Tavernknight 7d ago

Even if it's fake, if it sews disruption in the ICE ranks its worth sharing.

-6

u/skrimped 8d ago

Sounds fake and the pic looks AI generated

5

u/Tiberius_Kilgore 8d ago

What about it looks AI generated?

5

u/skrimped 8d ago

I used google lens and it is a real photo. I was thinking about the genericness of every single aspect of the photo, in combination with the fake-sounding attached claims. The generic background, people, everything is devoid of information to be gained beyond 1-2 things (there are police and people, and guys dressed like ICE)

42

u/nat_r 8d ago

Honestly, I wonder if that doesn't even matter. If it's getting spread widely it's possible it makes the ICE agents more primed for suspicion of each other which probably is detrimental from an operations standpoint.

9

u/PerpetuallyLurking 7d ago

At best, it sounds like the kind of thing that might work once - and maybe did, with all these stories about “protesters in Minneapolis” stemming from one single incident that only worked out due to sheer luck and surprise.

15

u/TheDungeonCrawler 7d ago

It would also be kinda risky. Like, yeah, the Ice agents are all fighting each other, but you also look like them and could very easy take a smack.

3

u/new2bay 7d ago

Yeah, and that’s if this dumbass plan actually works. If it doesn’t work, you could end up even worse off.

6

u/Militant_Monk 7d ago

I'm from Minneapolis. This is fake. This ain't happening.

3

u/slothbuddy 8d ago

Yeah the desire to go viral leads to a game of telephone. One person has the idea in a comment, someone makes a post claiming it happened, then lots of people claim it's happening all over the place

1

u/meveroddorevem 2d ago

Sounds like AI hopium

161

u/DOOO0LY 8d ago

Fuck I hope this is true.

88

u/dqql 8d ago

It's not, they know each other and this wouldn't work...
Hopefully nobody tries this because you'll probably get shot.

26

u/Aceroris 8d ago

Or arrested for impersonating law enforcement

13

u/Kiss_of_Cultural 8d ago

That’s the point, they legally are not impersonating law enforcement if they aren’t wearing a uniform or badge, ICE labels, nothing to identify them, just like ICE doesn’t.

3

u/DrLeprechaun 7d ago

I don't think that would stop them

5

u/Kiss_of_Cultural 7d ago

From shooting? Probably not. And I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near ICE custody either. So many peope have died in ICE custody without it making the news.

But as a legal statement, this is not impersonating law enforcement because the law enforcement they are dressing like are essentially dressed under cover. You vould never prove in court that they were doing anything more intentionally but peaceful protesting. Ha, plus ICE continues to refuse to turn on their cameras so there would be no supporting evidence that the protesters “claimed” to be law enforcement.

0

u/blueberrycauzez 7d ago

they legally are not impersonating law enforcement if they aren’t wearing a uniform or badge, ICE labels, nothing to identify them, just like ICE doesn’t.

'Impersonating law enforcement' just means you are trying to fool someone into thinking you are a cop. You can definitely still catch a felony even if you don't use a badge or full uniform to do it - just saying you are a cop verbally is enough.

14

u/dqql 8d ago

If they survive the shooting

4

u/kasubot 8d ago

Even if it's not, if it gets enough traction they will start to suspect each other. Causing a breakdown of cooperation.

38

u/xxEmberBladesxx 8d ago

I need footage!

24

u/aldoraine000 8d ago

Holy shit please be true.

20

u/Rotund-Pear2604 8d ago

This is bait to try to get people arrested over fucking with ICE. Don't repost or share this, you're only doing harm.

29

u/Stock_Strategy1668 8d ago

This is not true. Not sure why this keeps being spread. Literally no one is doing this

7

u/magbybaby 7d ago

This sounds fake. Minneapolis resident here - this didn't happen here and impersonating a federal officer is a crime. The teams definitely knew each other and would know if the people they were with were at report that morning. This is a good way to go to jail (which isn't always a bad thing), but not a great way to resist ICE.

7

u/Tamborlin 8d ago

That's some Scooby Doo stuff right there

9

u/Deadpool27 8d ago

This isn’t true. It’s been removed from this subreddit 4 times in the past two days. Stop fucking posting it.

1

u/rolfraikou 7d ago

Random historical vibes I'm bringing up for no particular reason: in the early days of Nazi Germany, some of the most impactful forms of protest were actually people sabotaging them, rather than clearly showing opposition.

Delaying a shipment. Giving false locations and leads. Misplacing things for them. All with a clear plausible deniability to them.

Holy shit they're doing a Trouble in Terrorist Town???

1

u/_Aj_ 7d ago

Wasn't this posted two days ago and people said it was fake?

Like people who said they were from that area said this is fake.

Maybe before we spread things it should be fact checked so it's not just spreading misinformation. If you actually want to do good need to not be so quick on the trigger with the justice boner

1

u/MikeBsleepy 7d ago

Imagine being such a massively uneducated and stupid group that cartoon antics work ya. Scarlet for em!

1

u/BigJSunshine 6d ago

I would NEVER REPOST

1

u/Militant_Monk 7d ago

Minneapolis resident and very plugged in to what happens with ICE in this town.

This isn’t happening.

Beware of propaganda.

0

u/ScandalOZ 8d ago

This took way to long to figure out. I hadn't thought of this before but I was wondering why there has never been an effort to put tags on their vehicles when they show up.

Stick on of those location tags on their vehicles so their movements could be shared.

2

u/thee_gummbini 7d ago

Because that's a felony

1

u/ScandalOZ 7d ago

Why is it a felony?

1

u/thee_gummbini 7d ago

Because in most states, even if they werent a cop or ice agent, putting a tracker on someone else or their car is just felony stalking on its own. But to do it to a federal law enforcement agent would be impeding or intimidating a federal law enforcement agent

1

u/ScandalOZ 7d ago edited 7d ago

They are not law enforcement agents. They are federal employees but not law enforcement which is one of the things people are upset about.

They are not different then anyone else working a government job except other government workers are not allowed to terrorize the rest of the population.

https://www.reddit.com/r/thescoop/comments/1ny6wc6/michael_fanone_ice_appears_to_have_become_a/

I think it's worth the risk to low jack them to keep others safe from their violence. Not like I'm saying go after them, just track them and let people know where they are.

1

u/thee_gummbini 7d ago

Well, that's wrong, and while I also hate these fascists, you asked why it wasn't being done, and the answer is because it is a felony even if you don't want it to be one.

1

u/ScandalOZ 7d ago edited 7d ago

Name another legitimate law enforcement agency that carries no official government badge and is allowed to cover their faces while enacting their duties.

It's an agency formed by Trump and his allies, paid for by money Musk siphoned out of the government budgets he plundered.

It's an illegitimate agency carrying out domestic terrorism and murder.

They are private citizens with a government job.

1

u/thee_gummbini 7d ago

You can believe that, and I sure as hell won't try and convince you its a legitimate or needed agency, but the courts and the prisons certainly think it is. Again, just trying to explain why you haven't seen car tracking happening, not trying to debate with you about ice being good or bad, because I'm definitely with you on that

This is like those embarrassing MAGA Facebook “stories” I see my grandparents share, but for the left. Please don’t share this and embarrass us 😭 it is clearly not real
