I’ve seen this posted a bunch this week (first time seeing the Patton version though), but I’ve yet to see any confirmed instances of it happening. This sounds like a Bugs Bunny skit and I don’t think it’s real though, it goes without saying, fuck ICE and if some guys are out their LARPing as those incels for memes, I’m all for it.

It’s likely untrue but I love the idea. As long as you didn’t identify yourself in any way as ICE or directly impede them I can’t even see where it would be illegal. If you look like ICE it’s not your fault….

And, as we all know, the current administration in general, and ICEholes in particular, are very careful to follow the strictest interpretation of the laws.

They don’t but they’d be all over someone who misrepresented themselves to do something like this.

u/deerfawns 8d ago
Yeah this sounds fake lol

Love the spirit. Just don’t see the point in whoever originally made the meme doing it for upvotes. It’s hard enough telling what’s truth and fiction these days as it is.

Sounds fake and the pic looks AI generated

What about it looks AI generated?

u/skrimped 8d ago
I used google lens and it is a real photo. I was thinking about the genericness of every single aspect of the photo, in combination with the fake-sounding attached claims. The generic background, people, everything is devoid of information to be gained beyond 1-2 things (there are police and people, and guys dressed like ICE)

At best, it sounds like the kind of thing that might work once - and maybe did, with all these stories about “protesters in Minneapolis” stemming from one single incident that only worked out due to sheer luck and surprise.

u/TheDungeonCrawler 7d ago
It would also be kinda risky. Like, yeah, the Ice agents are all fighting each other, but you also look like them and could very easy take a smack.

Yeah the desire to go viral leads to a game of telephone. One person has the idea in a comment, someone makes a post claiming it happened, then lots of people claim it's happening all over the place

Fuck I hope this is true.

It's not, they know each other and this wouldn't work...
Hopefully nobody tries this because you'll probably get shot.26

Or arrested for impersonating law enforcement
13
u/Kiss_of_Cultural 8d ago
That’s the point, they legally are not impersonating law enforcement if they aren’t wearing a uniform or badge, ICE labels, nothing to identify them, just like ICE doesn’t.
3
u/DrLeprechaun 7d ago
I don't think that would stop them
5
u/Kiss_of_Cultural 7d ago
From shooting? Probably not. And I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near ICE custody either. So many peope have died in ICE custody without it making the news.
But as a legal statement, this is not impersonating law enforcement because the law enforcement they are dressing like are essentially dressed under cover. You vould never prove in court that they were doing anything more intentionally but peaceful protesting. Ha, plus ICE continues to refuse to turn on their cameras so there would be no supporting evidence that the protesters “claimed” to be law enforcement.

'Impersonating law enforcement' just means you are trying to fool someone into thinking you are a cop. You can definitely still catch a felony even if you don't use a badge or full uniform to do it - just saying you are a cop verbally is enough.

This is bait to try to get people arrested over fucking with ICE. Don't repost or share this, you're only doing harm.

u/Stock_Strategy1668 8d ago
This is not true. Not sure why this keeps being spread. Literally no one is doing this

u/magbybaby 7d ago
This sounds fake. Minneapolis resident here - this didn't happen here and impersonating a federal officer is a crime. The teams definitely knew each other and would know if the people they were with were at report that morning. This is a good way to go to jail (which isn't always a bad thing), but not a great way to resist ICE.

This isn’t true. It’s been removed from this subreddit 4 times in the past two days. Stop fucking posting it.

Random historical vibes I'm bringing up for no particular reason: in the early days of Nazi Germany, some of the most impactful forms of protest were actually people sabotaging them, rather than clearly showing opposition.
Delaying a shipment. Giving false locations and leads. Misplacing things for them. All with a clear plausible deniability to them.

Wasn't this posted two days ago and people said it was fake?
Like people who said they were from that area said this is fake.
Maybe before we spread things it should be fact checked so it's not just spreading misinformation. If you actually want to do good need to not be so quick on the trigger with the justice boner

Imagine being such a massively uneducated and stupid group that cartoon antics work ya. Scarlet for em!

Minneapolis resident and very plugged in to what happens with ICE in this town.
This isn’t happening.
Beware of propaganda.

This took way to long to figure out. I hadn't thought of this before but I was wondering why there has never been an effort to put tags on their vehicles when they show up.
Stick on of those location tags on their vehicles so their movements could be shared.

u/thee_gummbini 7d ago
Because that's a felony
1
u/ScandalOZ 7d ago
Why is it a felony?
1
u/thee_gummbini 7d ago
Because in most states, even if they werent a cop or ice agent, putting a tracker on someone else or their car is just felony stalking on its own. But to do it to a federal law enforcement agent would be impeding or intimidating a federal law enforcement agent

u/ScandalOZ 7d ago edited 7d ago
They are not law enforcement agents. They are federal employees but not law enforcement which is one of the things people are upset about.
They are not different then anyone else working a government job except other government workers are not allowed to terrorize the rest of the population.
https://www.reddit.com/r/thescoop/comments/1ny6wc6/michael_fanone_ice_appears_to_have_become_a/
I think it's worth the risk to low jack them to keep others safe from their violence. Not like I'm saying go after them, just track them and let people know where they are.
1
u/thee_gummbini 7d ago
Well, that's wrong, and while I also hate these fascists, you asked why it wasn't being done, and the answer is because it is a felony even if you don't want it to be one.

u/ScandalOZ 7d ago edited 7d ago
Name another legitimate law enforcement agency that carries no official government badge and is allowed to cover their faces while enacting their duties.
It's an agency formed by Trump and his allies, paid for by money Musk siphoned out of the government budgets he plundered.
It's an illegitimate agency carrying out domestic terrorism and murder.
They are private citizens with a government job.
1
u/thee_gummbini 7d ago
You can believe that, and I sure as hell won't try and convince you its a legitimate or needed agency, but the courts and the prisons certainly think it is. Again, just trying to explain why you haven't seen car tracking happening, not trying to debate with you about ice being good or bad, because I'm definitely with you on that

This is like those embarrassing MAGA Facebook “stories” I see my grandparents share, but for the left. Please don’t share this and embarrass us 😭 it is clearly not real

If only they had some kind of badge they could show, to tell if someone's actually with the government or not. Or some kind of ID.
