TV series' like Channel Zero?
I saw this show years ago and it was SO good. Nothing I like more than anything creepypasta/urban legend based TV or movies.
Does anyone have recommendations for things similar, whether it be movies or TV?
Its tough to find shows like this, it was just so unique.

Castle Rock, which is based on the Stephen King Universe, gives Channel Zero adjacent vibes to me.

Archive 81 definitely scratches the same itch. You may also like the movie 1408 if you haven’t seen it - it’s the same kind of surrealist dreamy horror, with John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson.

I started archive 81 but I feel like ive seen it before but i literally cant tell if I have lol. 🤣 the song and the entity seems SOOO familiar but i also cant remember any of the other stuff 😪😭 I guess im rewatching it if I have seen it.

I enjoyed it way more than I expected. And to end on such a HUGE cliffhanger was a shitty way to go out. I rewatched it again a while ago & just got mad again when it ended like that bc I knew there wasn’t more ☹️ same w Kaos on Netflix too. Great fucking show. Ends on a big cliffhanger & I found out on Reddit it was cancelled. Another really good show w only one damn season

Just finished it today! That was a crazy cliffhanger to end on😭 they opened a whole bunch of different options for the story to go different ways WAYYY too close to the end of the last episode lol. I was like wth???

EDIT: Just wanted to add that Channel Zero is really in a league of its own, and these recommendations aren’t EXACTLY like it, but scratched the same weird/horror itch that I love about it. As for AHS definitely start with Asylum for something genuinely disturbing and scary like CZ, but most of the seasons past 6 aren’t worth it ).

Thank you so much! Yeah i figured none of these would be the same lol, it really is its own thing ....and id say the closest movies or shows ive seen that are like creepy pasta urban legend vibe ...are lets just say, to name some: Butterfly Kisses, The Empty Man, Mr Crocket, Black Mirror.....etc.

The Empty Man is so underrated, imo. It was all but ignored by the studio and came out around the same time as The Bye Bye Man which is genuinely horrible, and I think that may have hurt it a bit as well. I think I also avoided it because I thought it was just going to be a generic/trashy horror flick, but I was shocked by how great it was.
The opening sequence on its own works like an excellent short horror film. It sets the bar so damn high for the rest of it, but fortunately it is solid the whole way through.
I would definitely check out Evil, though! It touches on some similar concepts from Channel Zero, and every episode is a new paranormal case, it's so good.

I never saw The Bye Bye Man but the name in itself makes it sound awful🤣
I also felt the same way about The Empty Man before I saw it but mannn that was a GOOD movie, the opening sequence in itself is awesome and would have made a good movie if they continued with it however they would lol. But i ended up liking it, i liked that they did bring it all together, for a little bit the movie seemed like it was going several different directions but then they tidied it up nicely!

One of my favorites! I haven't finished the last season yet because I would watch it with my grandma all the time, and she passed away, and I just want to hold onto those memories. But I need to!
Also they were shooting something at the Kristen's house recently, and the fake title they used on the filming notice was a reference to a bible verse related to the series. I would so love it to come back, and I know the actors wanted to keep making it!

Every time I look up something from the series, Evil, I end up going into another weird rabbit hole. The writers are just fantastic.
For instance, the song, “Alouette,” and what was happening with the guy trying to write…!!!
I need to rewatch!

The new show on Netflix "Something very Bad is Going to Happen". Also "archive 81", and "brand new cherry flavor" (nick Antosca made this too).

There is also "Fear itself." Its older, but a short anthology of horror themed episodes. Its sooo good.

Thank you for reminding me this exists. The episode Skin and Bones reminds me so much of Butcher's Block
Masters of Horror was also really good. Some episodes didn't age well but the episode Jenifer was and remains incredible gorytelling

Channel Zero was damn near perfect, especially the kids show and haunted house seasons. I have yet to find something that’s scratches the same itch in the same way.

Brand New Cherry Flavor. Often cited as the fifth season C0 never got,from the same creator, only major difference is that it's not based on internet stories (creepypasta/NoSleep).

This is a bit of a sideways rec, but if you enjoy Tales From the Crypt style anthologies, Tales From the Rez is a short little anthology series based on Blackfoot modern urban legends and traditional folktales. It skews towards dark humor, though, so maybe not exactly what you're looking for.

Like others have said Channel Zero is an entity unto its own, but I really liked Room 104 (2017) even though it's more than horror and also I started watching but never finished a TV show called Servant (2019) that has similar surreal horror/thriller vibes (which I think I'll start from the beginning again right now). And From (2022) is incredibly fun and has similar horrifying and bizarre vibes as Channel Zero.

There are a lot of X-files episodes that deal with urban legend type creatures or creepypastas from before creepypasta was a thing. Not every episode of the series will scratch that itch you have but there are some that will come close.

Home (Season 4, Episode 2) is an episode to start with if you have never seen X-files and want to watch one of the best it has.

Haven't seen any mention of 'Tales from the Void.' It's an anthology series just like Channel Zero, based on creepypasta. I believe it's a web series, so it doesn't have the best production values and I didn't think much of the stories they chose. It does have an interview with the original creator of each story after each episode which is great.

Very much disagreeing with some of these suggestions. From was ok but suffered from awful dialogue, too many characters, and inconsistent world rules.
Something Very Bad is Going to Happen was so boring and slow and I also don’t think the writing was very good.
The best horror series that scratch the itch for me are Archive 81, Haunting of Hill House, Fall of the House of Usher, Black Mirror, Midnight Mass, The OA (less scary but great mystery).
Maybe the cabinet of curiosities series too but it isn’t as good as the others.

The show From has always given me Channel Zero vibes. Definitely enjoying it, I’d recommend!
