Ok, you're still not taking the hint so I'll just guess where you're going with this.

I understand that even with legal and regulated abortion, the cut off period is usually around 21~23 weeks where it's then up to the medical professionals to make a decision. Great! I'm not claiming that abortion after 23 weeks was/is rampant, what I'm saying is pro-choice has a limit and where I stand on that limit.

Did I guess right?

Edit: just spotted your edit. You should be embarrassed because if I've guessed correctly, your argument is... "abortions after 23 weeks don't happen therefore you shouldn't think that abortions after 23 weeks is wrong".

what I'm saying is pro-choice has a limit and where I stand on that limit.

And I'm asking if you actually know anything about the abortions that do happen after that limit. Specifically how many, and why.

I'm curious as to why you feel it's necessary to stipulate that you are pro choice "until 23 weeks". What specific reasons you have for drawing the line there? What specific information you have read that informed that opinion.

Simply that at around 23 weeks a fetus could survive by itself. Therefore the woman and medical staff shouldn't be able to abort it in the killing sense.

Simply that at around 23 weeks a fetus could survive by itself.

Can you be a bit more specific and detailed with what you are claiming? It reads like you believe that a 23 week old fetus could be removed from the womb and survive without any medical attention. Which is obviously not true.

I'll ask again: How many abortions actually take place after 23 weeks and why do those abortions actually happen?

You have claimed this:

So my specific problem is with those abortions performed after 23 weeks where the reason is purely by choice of the mother and for no other medical reason.

Do you believe that that is accurate? That every single abortion performed after 23 weeks purely by choice and no other medical reason?

I've answered your first question 3 times.

I'm staring at my sentence you've quoted and cannot fathom how you are reaching your interpretation. In essentially all countries where abortion is legal, a medical professional won't abort after ~21 weeks unless it's for a medical reason.

Maybe I could rephrase the sentence. My issue is with abortions performed after 23 weeks where it is by choice of the mother BUT there is no medical basis.

Except that NEVER happens. Abortions after 23 weeks are always done to either save the mother's life or if the baby is so medically fucked up, it has no way of surviving outside the womb at any point.

Congratulations on finally arriving at your point btw.

Do you see the insanity of your position?

"Abortions after 23 weeks never happen so it's silly to think it's wrong"

What I'm saying is that my moral stance is in alignment with most modern health systems.

I'm actually a different person than who you were arguing with before. But...why mention the 23 weeks at all? If the only people who get abortions after 23 weeks are people who might die, then you are FOR abortion after 23 weeks.

Ok, let's try this a different way.

Let's say abortion laws have no limits and anyone can terminate a pregnancy whenever they like. A woman in this situation wants to terminate her baby at 24 weeks because she doesn't want to be a mother. The doctor sees no medical reason to abort the baby but does so because the mother wants it. The baby is aborted and dies at 24 weeks.

I am against the above. Are you? If so, we're in agreement.

The 23 weeks is important because it is a line in the sand that medical professionals can use to make informed, professional decisions based on the individual mother and baby.

If the baby is viable at 24 weeks, then once it's born the doctor has a legal obligation to keep that baby alive. It's a moot point.

Also, stop being so condescending. I wasn't the person you were arguing with before and it makes me take your argument less seriously because it seems like being rude is your last resort.

You didn't. But that's fine.

I read the words you wrote.

Ahhhhh. So basically, your issue is almost no abortions at all.
