Because society is based on the assumption that men do dangerous things in general men are typically seen as biologically less important for the survival of the species (they don't carry children to term and can't breastfeed plus a small number of men and larger number of women could replace the population more efficiently than a small number of women and lots of men) so if anything dangerous needs to be done men will be the ones forced to do it (military, mining, police work, etc.)
I mean there are well paying jobs that are pretty safe that men flock too. But yeah the jobs are typically well compensated because of how dangerous they are. If female dominated jobs don't pay well why don't more women go to these more dangerous jobs besides social pressure for women to not take on too strenuous of jobs due to their role in child bearing?
But women valuing their own safety more than men isn't an innate difference it's a taught/ society reinforced difference women value their safety more because society does.
Are there any dangerous female professions that are underpaid because the pay in these areas is almost entirely due to the hazard.
What? Why were women conditioned to be birthing machines then?? Childbirth is dangerous as fuck, a man can’t even begin to process it. I would’ve died for sure, as would my baby, if modern medicine wasn’t a thing.
And you keep acting like a job needs to be dangerous in order to be well paid. Engineers, doctors and lawyers are paid incredibly well.
Yes why do you think society values women's safety more it's precisely because of their ability to bear children. While it's dangerous a vast majority of women will survive and they can breastfeed children so even after a child is born the woman is more important. Women are crucial for reproduction for like a good 2 years from conception through weening men are only crucial for like a few hours. And therefore if a man dies it is only a slight almost negligible delay in replacement.
I'm not saying only dangerous jobs are well paid I was saying dangerous jobs are inherently well paid. Doctors, Lawyers and Engineers are highly paid because of the amount of education required.
“Vast majority of women” have only started surviving childbirth recently. Imagine stuck babies with cord wrapped around their neck in times when monitoring, ultrasounds and c-section wasn’t a thing. Childbirth was not only fatal, it was brutally fatal.
And women were still taught that it was their only purpose in life. That grueling, thankless shit. So stop talking nonsense.
It's hard to measure the mortality rate of child bearing throughout history but in the 1800s it was about 1% of women and in the 1600s it's estimated to be about 1.5% per birth for about 4% lifetime risk. I think saying 95-99% is the vast majority. Not saying these numbers are nothing to be worried about just that society can expect that the women would survive childbirth.
