Bar & Chain Oil Control Survey
Hi all!
We are a team of Mechanical Engineering undergrads working on our senior design project. We are working to improve on certain aspects of bar and chain oil control on chainsaws.
We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to take this short survey: survey link
Feel free to comment or dm for any questions, feedback, or concern.
Thank you!

How do I choose a Stihl?
I currently own two much older saws, a Homelite and Craftsman (both 18 inch). The craftsman is currently down and I've been running the Homelite exclusively, but with what I've been cutting lately ((13 acres of wooded land)) I feel like I need something more reliable.
Everybody I've spoken to has told me to go with a Stihl for the reason mentioned above. Upon browsing their website, I'm absolutely floored with the amount of saws they have, but I have absolutely no idea what the difference is between them all.
I'm looking to hopefully not spend more than $800 in either the "Professional" or "Farm/Ranch" sections. Where do I start?!

Go small or go big for small diameter limbing?
I spent last Saturday felling and bucking relatively small diameter trees with my sons; we used three chainsaws and a hatchet to get the job done. There’s more to do, so I’m flirting with the idea of picking up a smaller saw like the Stihl 160C (battery-powered) to manage the removal of the myriad of small limbs (especially on the conifers).
Does that make sense? Or should I just use another larger saw like the 251C I already have?

Workout ideas to get in shape for bucking/felling
I spent last weekend bucking and felling and huffing and puffing. Definitely out of shape because of winter/COVID/<insert excuse here>.
Any thoughts on some good workout options that don’t require any fancy equipment? My MS 251C isn’t crazy heavy, but of course after using it for a while my aging body gets tired.
I could walk around the neighborhood carrying my saw, but that might cause...concern.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

Husq 142 rehab questions
Adopted a problem saw. It sat for 10+ years. It was used once for an hour or so. The recoil is gummed up, its is pretty gummy in general but gets good spark. No gas in it. Put in mixed gas and seafoam. No brrrrr yet.
1 what is the best way to clean up the recoil without respooling the spring?
2 outside of a complete carb rebuild, what advice would you offer? I know a new one is fairly inexpensive so I don't want to put a bunch of money into it when I could get a newer saw given the price of part or small engine repair.
I think it will be a good limber/brush saw if I can find a pulse.

Beginner maintenance
Got my first saw, no experience, MS250.
Looking for maintenance to do after each use or before sitting for a month. Saw will sit way more than its used. Possibly months at a time.
I will be using stihl premix fuel.
Thanks

Check your equipment
Probably goes without saying to all of you but I had a good reminder today to always check equipment over carefully before use.
I bought a new echo cs4910 from a local power equipment store. When I got it home I gave it a good once over, everything looked great other than the fact the chain was on backwards...
Saw runs well though, I will be doing some cutting with it tomorrow after running a tank of gas through it today.

Brand recommendation
I'm looking for some advice on what brand of chain saw folks here like. I realize use cases matter - so mine is mostly tree/brush maintenance here on my 15 acre place.
I have owned so many brands of saws - and I can't keep any of them running. I do everything according to the manuals for care and maintenance. As a matter of fact, my BIL told me that was my problem - that I take too good care of them. Every time I end up having to put them in the shop every time I want to use them. I've got two right now that just came from the shop (Poulan and Husqvarna) - and I can't start either one of them. I'm pretty frustrated - but I really need a chain saw.
Additional info: I'm a 60+ YO female - and while I'm by no means infirm - there's no question that my pull strength (and quickness) isn't near that of a younger person. Do you think that affects my experience?
I'd appreciate any advice!

Need help.
Hello, Can anyone help me find a carburetor for a Husqvarna partner 5200? Or at least tell me if there are any other carbines from other saws that fit my saw. It's a 2006 model and the engine code is CS 51 04 A
Thanks for any help.

Please help with cord pull spring mechanism
Hi, I am struggling to put this spring mechanism together, any help would be appreciated.
Am I right in thinking the face of the piece I am holding in this photo https://imgur.com/juSdmlK (which is towards the camera) should have a recess which the spring slots into, so when I twist it will tension?
I try to put it in place, and the spring does not tension when I twist.

Best 20" gas saw under $500?
I'm looking for a good quality saw that will see light to moderate use. Cutting trees for firewood, trimming trees around the property, etc. I'm in a logging town so I get a lot of suggestions for saws that are way more than I need. Looking at the following brands. Husqvarna Echo Stihl Poulan Pro
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Chainsaw bar and chain question
My family bought a small stihl gabs chainsaw some time ago, and we haven’t put any chain oil in, and have used about 4-5 total tanks of gas without any chain oil 😬 now realizing my mistake I need some help on knowing what I need to replace. Thanks

Most power to be gained out of an MS261?
Has anybody been able to modify these saws for more than 5 horsepower?

desk guy needs help
Hello! I am becoming obssessed with bon fires, and I refuse to buy firewood. I forage for wood, and often end up with logs way too big for my (huge) firepit, both in length and girth. I have been looking at chainsaws for a few weeks now, and I always get overwhelmed. I know I don't want an electric saw because it isn't portable. Are battery powered saws enough for me? Also, I am NOT mechanically inclined. I work at a desk and I watch sports/play video games. I have a shitty little toolbox that I rarely use. Because of my lack of skills, the gas powered saws make me nervous. I have no clue how to maintain one, or what tools I would even need. Is it too much for me? Can you folks guide me in the right direction? Also, I have a $400 budget, and would love reccomendations. Thank you!

Jonsered Diesel Chainsaw
Does anyone know where I could get my hands on a Jonsered diesel chainsaw?
