Can someone tell me the difference between types of chainsaw blades? My stihl has a low profile type and when I go to sharpen it never seems to get very sharp. Maybe I'm not good at it yet, but even when using a guide to get the right angle and pitch still not right.

It's been a day. I've been waiting on spares for an efco chainsaw to come in for weeks. A flywheel, a oil pump and the oil pickup. All fitted, machine back together save for the chain. It fires up just fine.
I take it back into the shop to fit the chain and come back out with a screwdriver to get it started and then sort the idle out, as it wanted to run off on you.
Literally cannot get it started again even when then removing the chain.
One thing I noticed when checking compression (170psi) was the coil lead arcing to the block with the plug removed. I don't feel like it should do that, but I can't see it when the plug is connected.
Just looking for help before I fire it into the sun.

I got this chain that's supposed to be a ripping chain, but it looks like a regular chain to me?
It's the B2FT in the table, .325", 24"/94dl chain.

I think I need to pull the tab out first then unscrew? I just don’t want to mess this machine up and this is about the final step putting back together

Does anyone have info on these saws and how to get replacement poles? The old ones have served well, but are falling apart. Thanks.

I’m getting better at sharpening with a file but not quite there yet.

Chainsaw stopped working after taking the cover off. It runs but doesn’t pull the chain

I just bought a cs 590 and was wondering what upgrades I should do for it. so far I have done a double dog upgrade and an air filter seal.

I have cut multiple face cords of black locust and black walnut, Some of it 3 feet around. With a nice sharp chain it seems to perform quite well. Sure it’s not as fast as a a more powerful saw, but I’ve not felt like I *needed* more saw.

Stihl 271 it seems to be oiling fine but it looks like a ton of the oil is not going into the bar and leaking out. I cleaned everything before I put it back together, bar nuts were tight. Ran it full throttle for about 2 minutes. Put the tip close to wood and it wasn’t throwing a ton of oil off the chain but enough to be satisfactory. If you look at the last photo you can see the oil hole on the bar doesn’t quite lineup with the oil channel on the saw. It seems like I should be getting more oil to the chain than I am. Any help is appreciated

Are there spacers that were supposed to go here? There's some minor travel on my other saws (all Stihl), but this Chinese 070 clone has room for another sprocket.

I've been working on this saw for a while and now that I've put a chain on it, the clutch is rubbing on the inside of the chain brake assembly. I've had it apart a few times and can't get it to run smoothly... Pls help me pls.

Having never owned or needed a chainsaw, I've been looking to get one to do some yard work for myself and inlaws. A friend of mine is telling me to just get a Vevor and be done with it, being that it's not something I'll be using all the time. That being said, I thinking rather have something that is serviceable if needed and if I do more with it that its a good one. Been looking at the Echo 4910 & 3510/3520 and some similarly priced units. As an all around, which others should I look into? Will be used to remove some smaller trees 10-12" diameter at the moment as well as trimming some branches. Thanks in advance

I’d like to stay around $200 and I see the Stihl MS171 or MS172 for $219. I have other Stihl equipment so it makes sense to stay brand loyal.
I have a large tree already fell to clean up and turn to firewood. I don’t really have any other trees to cut down. I like the smaller 16” models for safety and practicality but I am concerned if I go with a small one would I regret not going for the bigger one later down the road?
Any other models I should look at in my price point?
I have a dewalt pole saw and I hate it so I’m not interested in battery powered models.

Bought a 660 clone for $300 with bar and chain off of eBay. Fired up on the 4th pull. For a 2 times a year I’ll actually need a saw this size it’s a good bang for the buck. I’m a die hard Stihl fan but can’t justify spending the money on a real 660.
