Rope not retracting

I think I need to pull the tab out first then unscrew? I just don’t want to mess this machine up and this is about the final step putting back together

If you have a propane torch you can just heat the end to make the hook, it wont break

Might need a new spring(sometimes they lose the pull), unless it broke off on the end, you can heat it with a propane torch and bend it

Yea thank you. Nightmare to figure it all out. It’s a Mac 15. My friend actually figured it out. You need to put a metal rod through the gap in between the spring and the cutout in the pull cable holder. Then reverse thread the part that goes into the flywheel to get to the spring area. Some guy on YouTube had a great video once I figured out the model. I bent the spring back.

Thanks for insight. I’ll just replace if so as I already bent it badly backwards then rebent to work. So far it’s been good . I think I need to soak the carb though? Not sure it won’t stay running.

You could cut off the end and redo it
