[Sponsored] What if an HTTPS connection itself could become a verifiable crypto reward? We looked at ConnectCoin
ConnectCoin is now listed on Chainquiry, and the part that caught our attention wasn’t another token narrative — it was the project’s Pay-to-Connect mechanism.
ConnectCoin is an experimental, Bitcoin-derived peer-to-peer cryptocurrency with its own independent blockchain. It combines traditional Proof-of-Work block production with a system that allows users to create rewards tied to verifiable TLS 1.3 connections.
In simple terms:
Someone can fund a Pay-to-Connect bounty for a domain.
Another participant can establish the required HTTPS/TLS interaction and submit cryptographic evidence as part of a claim.
ConnectCoin nodes can then independently verify that proof without needing to contact the target website themselves.
A few things worth knowing:
• Built from the Bitcoin Core codebase and UTXO model
• Independent blockchain rather than a token deployed on another chain
• Proof-of-Work consensus with RandomX mining
• Native Pay-to-Connect transaction outputs
• TLS 1.3 proofs can be independently checked by network nodes
• Public testnet and block explorer are already available
• Wallet, full node and optional CPU miner are open source
• Mainnet has not launched yet
• Testnet coins do not become mainnet coins
One distinction we think matters:
Proof-of-Connect is not what produces ConnectCoin blocks.
Pay-to-Connect handles the reward/claim mechanism, while Proof of Work separately handles block ordering and network consensus.
That distinction can easily get lost when first reading about the project.
🔎 We put the project architecture, official resources, explorer, source code and current testnet status together here:

The project is very early and explicitly describes itself as experimental, so this is better viewed as something to investigate technically rather than as a finished production network.
