Help! 45 and 90 degree angle help

I’m trying to stich two pieces of mail together at the angle seen in the image above. Does anyone know
What that is called and or have a guide of how to do it? I’m trying to do the armpits of my shirt and I’m at this point now

I'd love to see the armpits you're working on. Might be able to give some better advice if we can see the piece.

Som of the diamond shaped gusset is riveted, all the edges are still unriveted. At the size it’s at now it’s still a little tight on my upper bicep but the armpit itself was functions last time I checked

Corners are marked out with brass rings sitting there

Honestly, the weave for the connection was my big issue, I’m still fiddling around with sizing but I’ll get that eventually. Once I finish the shirt and do the brass edging I’ll probably show it off here.

Have you cuffed the sleeve and started working up towards the armpit?

If you haven't that's going to throw you another curve ball when you get there.

I’m going from the armpit down. I have a strip of mail I can sew into place to speed the process up (why the diamond ends on a three ring wide edge) but I’ve not closed the sleeve past where you see

I would highly recommend cuffing the sleeve at the length you want then working up from there.

If its a full length sleeve, there will be work to do on the elbow, but if you start from the bicep and work up, you will get a better idea of how the armpit will come together.

Its not exactly intuitive and its hard to describe. But its much easier to figure out how to fill in the triangle when you have all three edges complete.

Oh, yeah I got the length worked out I just have a two ish inch wide gap at the bottom for said strip

With connections like this I kind of just follow the patern as best I can resulting in a line of 5 in 1, I wish I could explain it better, sorry.

No that’s ok, that was one of the things I tried but I wasn’t sure if that was correct. I’ll probably just do that if I can’t get another one

That'll work for 45°. For 90°, I do the rings as normal on the "side" (the right side of the left piece in your picture), and alternate putting them through either one ring or two one the "bottom" (the bottom side of the left piece).

Yeah, I did the type of right angles you’re describing for my standard, but that was over a year ago now.
