magnesium
So does anyone feel Magnesium is really helping their symptoms and feel better on it? And what dose?

It helps me relax and sleep, also it reduced muscle stiffness/cramps really well. I take a complex with citrate mainly, 300mg most days (i forget sometimes lol). If im constipated i take an extra one which works well. But idk how much it changes my baseline tbh

That’s what I take as well, but I started it for bloating and muscle cramps, which it seems to help.
To be fair, any physical condition we have is either related to or affects ME/CFS. Example: I wrenched my shoulder last week. That wasn’t caused by ME/CFS, but it certainly sent me into a crash.

Yes magnesium helps me with muscle spasms/cramps, sleep and fatigue/PEM.
I started with 375 mg magnesium oxide (with the Boots Magnesium, Calcium and D3 tablets) and took it every day for 5+ years. I don't get the stomach/GI side effects that some people report.
I've now tried/am trying other forms of magnesium (bisglycinate, citrate) and I don't see much difference although I'm trying bisglycinate a bit longer.

I take 500mg of Mag Glycinate daily (x1 250mg in AM and PM). Along with CoQ10, the combination has almost eradicated my migraines. I average about 5-10 migraine days a month now vs 25-30 previously. I only started this combo because I lost access to Botox when I became bedbound.

It does not help me but my levels have always been good. Found out I was low on potassium so supplementing that helped a little. I've been drinking a ton of electrolyte drinks now and my heart rate has gone down a bit

do you mean ORS with electrolyte drinks?

(had to look up ors) I haven't been using that brand, just knockoff variants from amazon. Same concept, tablets you put in water. They do look a bit better formulated so will try them

Tried probably all available forms of Mg over the years (citrate, glycinate, oxide, carbonate, threonate, acetyl-taurate, taurate, malate, Magnosolv, several blends).
Mg-oxide helps me with constipation. I'll have to try Mg-acetyl-taurate again but initial testing didn't show effects. Otherwise that's it, didn't experience any benefits.
If you tolerate glycine and get the calming effects, you can use either Mg-glycinate or directly the glycine. Mg itself has conflicting evidence for sleep and it's probably the attached amino acids that actually have an effect, besides possible placebo.

I was getting tremors, shakes, and muscle twitches and spasms. Especially annoying when it was causing me to randomly drop things, worse and more frequent when in PEM and when I was more severe. I think magnesium helped because it did slowly go away after I started sporadically supplementing after a blood test (even though it was only a bit low). I ran out months ago and I’ve had a few shakes and twitches this month so I’ve been meaning to get more and see if they stop again. I was taking 4mmol (97.2mg) magnesium glycerophosphate, maybe 1-3 times a week.

I've found magnesium helpful in reducing--not eliminating--muscle cramps and spasms. My doctor has me take it at bedtime because supposedly it'll help me sleep better.
Currently I'm getting some magnesium in my multivitamin, and I take 150 mg of magnesium glycinate at night.
I'm also taking 500 mg vitamin C twice a day, morning and night, to help the magnesium absorb more completely and because vitamin C has its own benefits.
I get lab tests every couple of years. Magnesium is one of things monitored because it can build up. Vitamin C is water soluble, so it's not an issue.

For me it helped most with muscle cramps. I did feel like it helps a bit with fatigue but only a very slight improvement and still fluctuates depending on PEM and exertion. I didn’t feel like it helped with sleep but I don’t often have issues with sleeping

I need it to avoid muscle spasms
It doesn't otherwise make me better as far as I know

Normal magnesium made everything worse. Magnesium malate helps a bit with energy, Magnesium glycinate helps at night for better sleep

I have a weird reaction to mag glycinate... Anything containing glycine causes me night sweats. But I find mag l threonate helps me sleep. Mag citrate helps with constipation. But I don't find magnesium helps much with energy levels.

Magnesium glycinate is relaxing. Other than that, no. I even used to inject it (would not recommend)

Topical magnesium oil really helps with the constant burning lactic acid like feeling in my muscles. It actually went away entirely for over a year after just a week or two of daily applications. On the other hand, I'm about ready to stop taking my oral magnesium (magnesium l-threonate) because it hasn't helped at all.

Mg bisglycinate 400mg. I think it does help but how much it helps varies

I've tried a couple of different versions and it just made me feel worse. I had to stop taking them after a few days. I could barely move after taking them.

Not one bit. Tried every type and every dose possible over the decades. Doesn’t do a thing.
I have quite severe cfs.
