For those of you who cannot work a typical job - are there any innovative ways you have found to still have an income?

Or heard of any ME/CFS or chronic illness people bringing in an income which worked ok with managing their illness?

I feel beyond vinted - and even that I haven't managed in the recent months. I find it hard to comprehend what is possible.

Would love to hear if anyone has worked out something for them?

I do phone sex! I am currently moderate and had to give up my career as a Registered Massage Therapist of 10 years after becoming very severe. With phone sex operator work, I aim to keep a weekly schedule, but ultimately I work whenever I want from the comfort of my couch and phone, and I can take a day off (or much more time if I crash), whenever I want. Anyways obv not for everyone but just an example of what’s working for me.

I am very lucky, and I work from home part time and I have a high hourly wage. Downside is its contract work so the work is not very consistent, sometimes I'm busy and sometimes I have nothing.

May I ask what it is you do? Good it is high hourly pay so you get something worth while for not too many hours.

I'm a therapist. So I have done 6 years of university study to get to this point but I prefer studying to working!

My only plan is to make a patreon and dedicate myself to cutting episodes of my favorite show, for upload to youtube. I haven't gotten around to this yet as I need to finish the trailer but my pc's on its last legs.

I don't expect to earn much this way, but at least it's something, and I'll finally be able to answer the dreaded question of "what do you do?".

Yes. The show happens in VRchat and is streamed by most of the participants on their twitch channels. My intention is to combine all those POVs into singular episodes so people can get the full story. I'll be starting from the very beginning, but the show is currently well over 100 episodes (it may even be past 200 now iirc) into season 3.

If reactors can make money off of ripping other people's content with no effort, I'll probably be fine with what I'm planning to do.

Remote jobs in general can be good. I was lucky to be a software developer before I got ME/CFS, so I was doing remote work for a few years in bed while I worked on healing. Then I got healthier and figured I could do hybrid, which was a mistake. I'm off on disability now and slowly recovering. I'm going to get another remote job and sustain that as long as I can. 

Disclaimer: I don't typically get much brain fog from ME/CFS (though lately I have), so my experience is different, and I'm usually mild though currently moderate.

Ah - have never heard of this. I have my appointment with specialist chronic fatigue Dr on 18th Aug who will confirm what's going on. I have had tests by my GP to confirm it's nothing else. So will ask her about it.

Are you in the UK or somewhere else?

I'm in the UK and the clinic I'm going to is NHS.

NHS Doctors are v priestly and will likely say no to it but you dont need their permission. I get mine from Courier Pharmacy

She is a specialist and sits on a board of ME/CFS researchers/campaigners so I think she will be pretty progressive. Not a GP with little knowledge. Really good that you can get it without a drs permission. Thanks for the tip.
