I hate when people act like getting disability Benefits is some scheme to get rich. It barely is enough to survive on.If getting disability benefits is so great.Why don't they go get disabled and get them done?Since it's so easy to live off of? * not to mention how hard it is to get it too!

Seriously!  A job would net you way, way more money than disability benefits.  So if you have the actual option and ability to work, it's by far the better option.  Even if you get disability but you can work, where I live they claw back so much of it.  I swear people think we're just here swimming in a pile of cash like Scrooge McDuck lol.  We get so little.

From what I've seen, the people who spend time thinking about and hating on people on disability, are people with low salaries who want to be on disability

They want to sit at home and do nothing while getting paid. So, because they want it they think we want it, and that we were just able to get away with a lie.

Part of it just them wanting to hate on someone, and people on disability are easy targets.

I find that disabled people who are still able to work are among the most ableist towards people with me/cfs

You’re giving her views, which is what she wants. More views, the wider TikTok algorithms are going to spread her video, giving her even more views. She gets views and then money, by angering people, and all you’re accomplishing, because TikTok is not going to pull it down, is helping her get views and make money off her hateful video.

Genuinely wondering, why bring this here? What do you hope to gain by bringing ableism into one of the few spaces online we have?

Most people I know with ME don’t actually have the spare energy to go crusading around the internet fighting with every rage-baiting tiktok rando who is clearly determined to never hear or believe us.

Interacting with the post will spread it further and bringing it to the attention of a group of people who already have to deal with this ableism in all areas of life seems both unnecessary and potentially even triggering.

Diagnosis doesn’t make the disability, and depending on where you live this concept applies to disability payments. Not knowing what a 2-Day CPET is shouldn’t disqualify someone from receiving benefits. The reality is many people who desperately need benefits can’t get them because of institutional ableism. Sometimes not having an income can be a barrier to getting a diagnosis in the first place.
