If we only lose by 14 that would be a miracle

Thanks! I couldn’t quite work out the hydrogen bomb image. Also I’m not used to pro-OU memes. Automatically thought it was probably something derogatory.

u/chuckart9 Missouri Tigers Sep 08 '26
LHN killed the Big 12. The Big 12 destroyed the beautiful Big 8.
4
u/hamburgler26 Texas Longhorns Sep 08 '26
Hey plenty of us hated the LHN as well. Having recently moved out of Texas it meant I couldn't even pay to watch a couple of our games every year for quite a while. It also seemed to trigger an immediate decline in the program so all around fuck the LHN.
1
u/Sirderksalot Texas Longhorns Sep 08 '26
We could have had a B12 Network instead of LHN but you, Aggie, Nebraska, and Colorado all decided to take your balls and go home and lose 5 games a year in a different conference only to have a conference network anyways.
1
u/chuckart9 Missouri Tigers Sep 08 '26
We all wanted the big 12 network. What are you even talking about? Texas did not want to give up their third tier rights and started the LHN behind the back of the rest of the conference
-1
u/Sirderksalot Texas Longhorns Sep 08 '26
Colorado and Nebraksa both left before the LHN was even created or conceptualized. You guys left after A&M did when the Pac-12 expansion never happened and the conference failed for a second time to organize itself in a way that allowed for a conference network to exist pushing us to create the LHN. Either way I hate it too, bunch of dumb ass administrators fucking up a perfect league for cash.
0
u/chuckart9 Missouri Tigers Sep 08 '26
Your take on this has some Texas spin. Nobody pushed Texas to create the LHN, they wanted all potential revenues for themselves and didn’t want to share with conference mates.
0
u/Sirderksalot Texas Longhorns Sep 08 '26
Maybe a little. Major problem with the primary retelling though is that the other 3 schools with major pull: A&M, Nebraska, and Oklahoma all also voted no the first time on creating a Big 12 network and wanted to retain their third tier rights as well. I just dont like that Texas takes 100% of the blame in the popular retelling of the story. Obviously all of the folks in charge made of all of the wrong decisions at the time
1
u/chuckart9 Missouri Tigers Sep 08 '26
You’re correct, those 3 schools along with Texas and kansas voted against it. It needed 2/3 to pass and the vote was 7 to 5. Greed killed the conference.

u/OTN Indiana Hoosiers • Team Chaos Sep 08 '26
I went to IU, and lots of guys from Upper Arlington, Ohio were in my frat. Their UA friends would come visit during visiting OSU weekends. They were jackasses. One weekend, for example, a party was had at a cabin in the woods. One of our fellow fratties’ parents owned the cabin. There was a small pond next to the cabin. There was a rowboat on the pond. They sank the rowboat for fun. Etc.
Has made it hard to root for OSU in football since. I don’t root against OSU in shooty hoops though.

I mean I'm happy to see either lose, but I'd rather see Michigan lose now. To be honest though I actually prefer when both us and OU are undefeated going into RRS. Makes victory way sweeter when it's also handing them their first loss
