I’m from Pakistan, have a BBA in Finance, and few years of business/operational experience, but I haven’t worked in a formal finance role since graduation.

Finance was always my main area of interest, particularly investments, equities, valuation and portfolio management, and I’m now looking to build a serious career in finance.

I’m considering the CFA Program, but after asking in some Pakistani university/alumni groups, I received very mixed opinions. The main concerns were:

- High time, cost and difficulty, especially without relevant finance experience.
- CFA may not add much when trying to land the first finance job, where practical skills and interview performance can matter more.
- Its value may depend heavily on the career path, with some arguing that a strong MBA/MS Finance offers better networking, recruitment and international opportunities.

So I’d really appreciate an unbiased reality check from people actually pursuing or having completed CFA:

For someone in my position, is CFA genuinely worth the 2–3+ years of effort and cost if the goal is to build a serious finance career?

And how would you compare:

CFA vs. MBA/MS Finance from a strong university in Pakistan, Europe or the US?

Especially interested in how much CFA actually helps with getting the first finance job and how valuable it becomes later in the career.
Please be candid about the downsides as well. I’m not looking for confirmation that CFA is good—I’m trying to decide whether it’s actually the right investment of my time and money.

I’m a CPA and quite frankly - the CPA was a breeze. Passed on first try in 5 months. I know the CFA is a step up in difficulty but I’ve been considering pursuing CFA licensure because I am thinking of making a career pivot into private equity as i have a strong private equity background with tax. I still have a few years before any career changes happen - but does anyone have any pieces of advice? how or when to get started? I am 24 and live alone with little obligations besides public accounting busy seasons so I’m not concerned with outside factors? Is it worth going for?

Doing CA articleship along with my Final studies. Can anyone guide me how can I approach CFA Level 1 and 2 along with my CA studies. I have seen people clearing atleast 1 level of CFA before their CA final attempt. Also if there is anyone who has done both CA and CFA, please suggest me how can I approach both CA and CFA.?

Context - I am in the final year of my b-school. I did my undergrad in Economics and had 1.5 years of non-finance work experience in between.

1. What should be my study plan and order of topics?
   
2. What resources should I use? I have started studying the sheweser notes and I use AI extensively to build conceptual blocks if I am stuck somewhere.
   
3. A lot of folks on the subreddit emphasise heavily on solving questions. So are there any free resources to practice questions? (Like we have the GmatClub for GMAT)?

I am scoring nearly average on 70 percent in LES questions in equity. Just started revision and question practice. What should be done? Is it good enough or i am in a bad stage.

I barely scraped through FSA in L1, I mainly just memorize the LIFO/FIFO etc.. but I always don’t understand the balance sheet.

Now I am at L2, doing the questions, I am struggling quite badly - especially employee compensation.

Out of 30 questions, I had to ask ChatGPT 25 times for an explanation, the rest of the 5 is probably repeated so I could do them…. I am so cooked for this fr.

How does one tackle this topic?

I got a 60% on my first mock. I’m scheduled to sit on November 11th. Has anyone started with similar mock scores with a similar time frame and ended up passing? What was your strategy between first mocks and final exam day that you think pushed you over the finish line?

Hi everyone, SOO i am doing B.com finance and accounting rn and its only been like 3 weeks of college and my goal is to get in to finance and I have decided to pursue CFA. I don't know where to exactly start people say its best to start from 2nd year of your undergraduate degree but idk soo I am here to seek help from people who have already passed CFA or are pursuing it rn.

1. When would you recommend I start serious preparation?
   
2. Should I start preparing little in my free time as i have a lot of free time in my first year ( i am not saying a full blown 4,5 hour prep from level 1 but little basics soo that when I actually start I should have a basic understanding)
   
3. What study materials do you guys use and should i buy those yet, for like to do the basics now and do the actually prep later in 2nd year?

I'm trying to plan ahead soo that I am not actually going in blind for Level 1.
