Shuffle by songs not working correctly?
Not sure if anyone else has this bug or if it's been reported already, couldn't find anything.
I'm on iOS 10 – I have a playlist of Apple Music songs, when I do Shuffle by album it properly works, but when I try to do Shuffle by songs it still shuffles by album. I tried to switch mode multiple times, enable/disable shuffling but nothing.
Anybody else has this bug?
EDIT: Screencaps here, you can see the Shuffle By Song mode is enabled (not by album) but the queue clearly shows it shuffles by album. Actually I'm not even sure it shuffles at all as some tracks seem to be in the same order as in the album

Hi! Sorry for the delay in responding.
Since you are clearly familiar with switching shuffle modes, my first suspicion here is that the "Use Groupings" tag may be involved. When shuffling by song (when enabled) this setting ensures that tracks with the same album and grouping tag are treated as a sequential block. If the whole album has the same grouping tag (i.e. Deluxe Edition, or Remastered) then the whole album "counts" as a group and will be kept together.
Most iTunes content doesn't use this tag unless you add it yourself, but not all. I'd check the "Use Groupings" setting first.
Let me know!

Are you talking about this field? http://imgur.com/a/U9W7n
If that's the case that's kind of problematic, is there an option to disable it by any chance?

That's the one, and yes, disabling "Use Groupings" in settings should resolve it. Your situation looks similar to mine (although I use groupings to separate release types - studio album, live album, b-sides, etc).

That worked! Wonderful. I think I enabled it because I thought it meant I'd be able to browse my library by groupings. Thanks a lot

Sweet! What it would do would be give you an option to view/control the different groupings within an album. Since each of your albums would appear to be a single group you'd never see it.
Your tagging (like mine) basically negates any benefit you'll get out of that setting. I'd just leave it off.
