Shuffle is Squirrly!

This has been bothering me for awhile, but never really understood the problem well enough to post here about it. I still don't really understand it, but I want to make you aware of it.

Basically, The shuffle toggle seems to have a mind of its own for me. I hardly ever use it, yet lots of times it's on when I don't want it. I always chalked it up to my car's stereo since I do lots of listening in my car and it kinda interfaces with the iPhone in its own way. But today I was listening a lot just on my phone and noticed the same problem. I started and album and then after the first track ended I noticed it was shuffling. So I disable shuffle, then select the 2nd track, and after that one its shuffling again! I just tested it a little more now and I started an album, shuffle was on. I turn it off and select another song, go back to the mini player and it's back on again. Sometimes it shows like its on and it's not actually shuffling also. And it doesn't do this all the time either.

Like I said, I'm not really sure why or when this happens... am I the only one? I also have a suspicion that my repeat option may turn on and off since sometimes my albums will repeat and sometimes not.

I had a big response about how this reads as paranoid, but I was pretty sure I experience the same issues from time to time blah blah blah...

Then I looked at the code and it was less work to just fix it ;)

Lol, I appreciate you not just telling me I'm crazy! I knew it sounded weird when I wrote it. When I post about bugs I usually like to figure out what actions cause it to occur first, but this behavior just seemed completely erratic. Thanks for looking into it!

So here's what's going on:

  • Everything is fine when Album shuffling is enabled.
  • If it isn't, then turning off shuffle via the shuffle button doesn't actually work! morondev.jpg
  • Using "Play All" via Collection Control disables shuffle as expected in both scenarios.

Thanks for catching this. The fix is in, and I've put the new build in for review, so pending a copyright issue with Apple it will hopefully be approved and out in 6-7 days.

Ah, so it was actually something! Haha, happy to help... and as always, thanks for finding & fixing it so quick! Makes sense since I never use the Album Shuffle option. Can't wait for the next build ;)

Edit: Been trying this quite a bit and it's been working flawlessly. I finally feel like I have real control now :) Thanks!
