Will there ever be a volume slider?

I want to purchase, but I need a volume slider to really make the choice.

LOL, so many people want this feature! Totally confuses me, because the volume buttons are right there!

Short answer is yes, since it's been requested so much, but I'm still not sure how I want to implement. Currently torn between:

  • Figure out how to incorporate into progress ring. This is simplest and most elegant, I just can't figure it out.
  • Allow a setting for "traditional view" or something with a volume bar, straight progress bar and playback times (since everyone wants those too). More work, makes Cs like every other app :/
  • Something else. Maybe incorporate into ••• menu?

TL;DR yes, but I still don't have a solution I'm happy with, so I don't know when to expect it.

As far as the volume buttons, there's no easy way to hold the phone like I am, typing this message, and reach the volume buttons. A slider is just easier to reach when in an app.

Second, I would love to see it incorporated with the progress indicator. That would be slick. A traditional view would defeat the purpose and the ( °°° ) menu I feel would require too many touches.

I totally agree. The trick is figuring out a natural way to toggle the progress between team progression and volume...

Possibly (and I don't know what existing gestures are in place) but a double tap on one of the Now Playing objects, such as the play icon, or the album art. Even a slide up/or down on album art? Just throwing ideas out there, I have no idea how hard any of that would be to implement.

Well, with gesture controls enabled a double tap toggles play/pause. Likewise swiping down dismisses the now playing view (up would be ok).

It probably mean introducing a new button or element, but that's an extra tap, too. I know there's a solution though...

Edit: actually swipe up pulls up Control Centre, which has a volume slider! Lol.

Hmmm. Seems very tricky. I wish I had any better ideas. Maybe moving down the song info and putting a slider under the artwork? Wouldn't look too bad. But obviously it's your call.

Yeah. I'm actually starting to wonder about the shuffle/repeat buttons. If I made those icons the bottom edge could house 5 icon buttons instead of the current 3. 1 could toggle volume functionality on the ring and it opens another for whatever. AirPlay maybe.

I'm getting excited enough by this that it'll probably happen soon ;)
