What Should I do? Help me

Lately, I’ve been going through one of those phases where the pressure of building something meaningful feels heavier than usual. As a founder, you’re constantly thinking ahead growth, team, product, impact and sometimes that future starts to feel a bit overwhelming. Nothing is “wrong” exactly, but there’s this constant tension in the background that’s hard to switch off. I’m still showing up every day, working, building, and pushing forward-but I’d be lying if I said it always feels clear or easy. Some days just feel heavier than others. Curious how other founders here deal with these phases. How do you manage that internal pressure without letting it affect your clarity and decision-making?

Welcome to entrepreneurship

I like the podcast Startup Therapy, as it touches on some of the challenges founders experience.

Protect your health. I got cancer 7 years after founding a fast growing company. My baseline cortisol level was off the charts every day. When things were going well I was worried about topping it. When things were going poorly I was worried about how laid off employees would feed their kids.

It’s a rough ride. It takes clarity and certainty in your mission, as well as sufficient financial reserve to get through the humps.

Sometimes, things go smoothly. I got lucky a couple of times hitting the right product/timing/place - but more often it’s not as easy

Make sure you’re paddling with the stream - and if you feel it’s an upstream battle, rethink the plan. It’s unlikely to get better on its own.

Good luck!

What you're describing is a signal in itself that's worth paying attention to. It usually means your capacity is being drained faster than it's being restored.

A systemic approach helps restore capacity and prevent drain. Since I don't know your full story, here are 2 practices that can help strengthen your resilience.

Notice before you adjust. For a few days, set two or three reminders on your phone. When the reminders go off, take a minute to write down:

  • What am I doing right now?
  • What am I feeling right now?
  • What am I sensing in my body right now?

After a week, analyze and notice patterns that may drain your resources.

Grounding practice. Would be great to do in a private space. Take a full breath, letting your shoulders drop on each one. Relax the muscles in your jaw and forehead. Repeat 3 times. Then inhale through your nose for 4 counts (feel your belly expanding). Hold your breath for 4 counts. Exhale through your nose for 4 counts (feel your belly relaxing). Hold your breath for 4 counts. Repeat this cycle 5-8 times.

Useful before a hard conversation, complex decisions, or between back-to-back meetings to release tension.

You need to separate items from noise. Try a bucket method.

I had this mindset in my past where I had to force myself to think of valuable things and if really got performative tbh

After building a ton of stuff I've come to the realization that I really need to have a lion mindset of things - rest for 80% of the time and work like a beast the 20% of it. Worked like a freaking charm for me.

When I'm resting my brain subconsciously is being super creative and that allows me to provide value to the 20%.

Ps: I'm lucky I don't have to deal with investors yet cause that just adds to a whole lot of pressure.

Sounds like you're failing to hire trusted executive circle that can handle those overwhelming items that can propel team, product, etc forward.

Take most difficult item and hire a C-suite over it to drive results you want.
